Kota Ibushi Out of Action for Two Years

Kota Ibushi Out of Action for Two Years – Kota Ibushi has suffered a major setback after being injured during Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision (taped on October 8). The incident occurred when Ibushi fell from the shoulders of Josh Alexander off the turnbuckle to the floor outside the ring, resulting in a serious injury that required immediate medical attention.

The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion was stretchered out of the arena following the fall. Later, Ibushi confirmed on social media that he had sustained a broken femur and had undergone surgery to repair the damage.

In an update to his fans, Ibushi detailed the extent of his recovery timeline while expressing strong confidence in his ability to return. “My current condition. One year to fully recover. Two years until I can step into the ring again. I believe in myself more than the doctors. I absolutely don’t believe in that. I know I have amazing DNA that gives me the ability to heal!!”

Ibushi, who officially joined AEW in 2023, has struggled with multiple injuries over the past two years. After dealing with several physical setbacks throughout 2024 and early 2025, he made his return to the company in June 2025. Just two months later, in August, he revealed that he had signed a new two-year deal with AEW.

The injury comes as a major blow to both Ibushi and AEW, as the company had been positioning him for a renewed push following his contract signing. Despite the grim prognosis, Ibushi’s optimism suggests he intends to defy expectations and work toward a full recovery.
