Kota Ibushi Released from Hospital Following Injury

Kota Ibushi Released from Hospital Following Injury – Kota Ibushi has officially been released from the hospital after spending two weeks recovering from a broken femur suffered during an AEW Collision match on October 11. Ibushi confirmed the news Tuesday night in a social media post, expressing gratitude toward AEW President Tony Khan, Kenny Omega, Michael Nakazawa, the medical staff, and fans for their support throughout his recovery.

The injury occurred when Ibushi was positioned on the shoulders of Josh Alexander on the top rope. He lost his balance, fell hard to the outside floor, and was unable to continue, resulting in a count-out loss. The incident was later followed by a storyline involving the Don Callis Family, but the injury itself was legitimate.

Ibushi remained in the hospital for two weeks, providing regular updates on his condition. Doctors reportedly told him that it could take up to two years before he could return to the ring. However, the 42-year-old star made it clear that he does not intend to accept that timeline.

“One year to fully recover. Two years until I can step into the ring again. I believe in myself more than the doctors,” Ibushi said. “I absolutely don’t believe in that. I know I have amazing DNA that gives me the ability to heal!!”

In his latest update, Ibushi revealed that he has lost 12.4 kilograms during his hospital stay and is currently using a wheelchair. Despite these challenges, he called this “just the beginning” of his recovery journey. He also expressed his appreciation for Tony Khan’s continued support, noting that the AEW President extended his contract during his hospitalization — a gesture that Ibushi said deeply moved him.

This marks yet another setback for the Japanese wrestling icon, who has battled multiple serious injuries in recent years. Ibushi previously suffered a major shoulder injury during the G1 Climax 2021 finals, which sidelined him for over a year. After returning, he sustained another injury in January 2024 during a Pro Wrestling NOAH event.

Despite these obstacles, Ibushi remains optimistic and determined to return to the ring sooner than expected.
