Ludwig Kaiser appears to be moving closer to regaining the ability to travel for wrestling-related commitments, as new court filings indicate no opposition from the prosecution.
An updated motion submitted by Kaiser’s attorney confirms that the Assistant State Attorney assigned to the case, Shaylynne Kotch, has indicated she does not object to the request. The motion seeks permission for Kaiser, whose legal name is Marcel Barthel, to travel both within the United States and internationally while the case remains active.
The supplemental filing states, “Since the initial filing of the Motion to Travel, undersigned counsel communicated with Assistant State Attorney Shaylynne Kotch, who indicated no objection to this motion. Wherefore, for the foregoing reasons, the Defendant respectfully requests this Honorable Court to enter an Order allowing him to travel out of the State of Florida and internationally.”
Additional details in the filing outline the timeline surrounding his arrest. According to the document, Barthel became aware of a warrant on May 19, 2026, while he was in Mexico for work. He then returned to Orlando the following day and turned himself in to authorities. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond, with conditions that he have no contact with the alleged victim.
The motion also highlights the importance of travel for his profession, stating, “Mr. Barthel is an international performer who is required to travel throughout the United States and around the world to remain employed. His primary residence is the apartment complex in downtown Orlando where the alleged incident occurred. Mr. Barthel has no prior criminal history anywhere in the world and is not a danger to others. He maintains his innocence and has retained undersigned counsel to assist him in this matter. He has every intention of appearing at all required court appearances related to these allegations.”
A separate detail from court records reveals that Kaiser’s bond was posted by Gunther, listed under his legal name Walter Hahn. The two have a long-standing relationship dating back to their time together in Imperium.
Kaiser was arrested on May 20 on a misdemeanor battery charge linked to an alleged incident on April 24 at his apartment complex in Orlando. The complaint involves another male resident, who accused Kaiser of striking him following a verbal exchange in an elevator area. Authorities state that Kaiser was identified through security footage and a photographic lineup. He has since entered a not guilty plea and waived his right to appear at arraignment.
If the court grants the travel request, it would allow Kaiser to resume scheduled appearances, including a previously announced Mask vs. Mask match against Chad Gable at AAA’s Noche de Los Grandes event on May 30 in Mexico City.
The final decision now rests with the judge, but the lack of opposition from the state removes a major obstacle as Kaiser looks to continue fulfilling his WWE and AAA obligations.
