Matt Hardy Addresses The Hardy Boyz Future After NXT Title Loss

Matt Hardy Addresses The Hardy Boyz Future After NXT Title Loss – The Hardy Boyz’s short reign as NXT Tag Team Champions came to an end at NXT Halloween Havoc, where Matt and Jeff Hardy were defeated by DarkState in a rematch from the NXT vs. TNA Showdown event.

The match, contested under Broken Rules, featured Matt and Jeff returning to their “Broken” personas as Broken Matt and Brother Nero. Despite their trademark chaos and creativity, the duo couldn’t withstand DarkState’s relentless onslaught. The victory marked DarkState’s second reign as NXT Tag Team Champions.

After the match, Matt Hardy took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank the fans in Arizona and reflect on the outcome. “Thank you for having our back tonight at @WWENXT #HalloweenHavoc, Arizona! You guys & gals were WONDERFUL!” Hardy wrote. “We’re so sorry we weren’t able to retain the #WWENXT Tag Titles. The State of Dark swarm was relentless & never-ending tonight.”

Hardy assured fans that the defeat doesn’t signal the end of their journey. “Our journey is nowhere near over, myself & Brother Nero have SO much left to do,” he added. He also mentioned the emotional tribute they paid during the match: “Very happy we could pay homage to Bray tonight – We love you & miss you, Windham.”

The Hardys’ NXT Tag Team Title reign lasted less than three weeks, having captured the belts from DarkState at NXT vs. TNA Showdown earlier this month. While the brothers remain active across multiple promotions, it’s unclear whether they will continue appearing on NXT programming following their loss.

With the win, DarkState reestablishes itself as a dominant force in NXT’s tag division — and with momentum firmly on their side, the faction’s second title run has already started on a powerful note.
