MJF Declines Hiroshi Tanahashi’s Challenge With A Raspberry – Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared on the June 14 episode of AEW Dynamite via video message to challenge MJF for the AEW World Title at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 25.

As seen below, Renee Paquette informed MJF, who was backstage being iced up after his AEW Dynamite match against Adam Cole, that the bout was made official. MJF cared not for Renee’s message, saying that he declined that bout and would no show the booking.

Tanahashi failed to capture the vacant AEW World Title at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022, losing to Jon Moxley. MJF previously called NJPW an “indie fed.” 

“Do I have to wrestle at Forbidden Door? Fuck that. It’s a fucking Indie fed. With all due respect, their greatest legend probably couldn’t lace my boots. I think I would make anybody on that roster look silly, and I don’t want to waste my time. I’m a very busy man. I think New Japan Pro-Wrestling sucks. Except that Great-O-Khan guy, he pops me. I like him. Everybody else there is the drizzling shits. It reminds me of a local Indie fed.”
