News On WWE Superstar Spectacle In India – This Friday marks WWE’s long-awaited return to India, hosting the WWE Superstar Spectacle at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium.
Headlined by an impressive roster, the event boasts stars like John Cena, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens, Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER, Jinder Mahal, Veer, Sanga, Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Matt Riddle, Ludwig Kaiser, and more.
The event, although not airing on Peacock, will be broadcast locally on the Sony Sports Network in India. Notably, Dave Meltzer discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio that the Indian market stands as WWE’s second-largest TV revenue source, following the US. Nonetheless, challenges persist in attracting fans to events and selling tickets due to cultural tendencies that generally eschew attending live sporting events apart from cricket.
The setup for the show involves around 3500-4000 seats, with Meltzer emphasizing that the show’s primary goal is not ticket sales but rather to enhance WWE’s popularity in India. The event is a collaboration with Sony, which is hosting the show to bolster WWE’s reach in the Indian market.
