Nigel McGuinness Clarifies His AEW Contract – Nigel McGuinness has provided some clarity regarding his contract status with All Elite Wrestling, confirming that both his commentary work and occasional in-ring appearances are covered under a single deal. McGuinness currently serves as a commentator for AEW Collision and recently returned to active competition, facing Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
Speaking with The Magic Of Wrestling, McGuinness was asked whether AEW uses separate contracts for his two roles. He explained that while his agreement initially focused on commentary, it was later amended once his wrestling return was finalized.
“Yeah, my manager and agent sort of handle all that side of things. I just sign along the dotted line,” McGuinness said. “I know we did, we sort of re-upped when it became clear that I was gonna be getting in the ring again, just sort of like an amendment to it. It’s ostensibly the same contract, I believe.”
McGuinness joined AEW in 2023 after previously serving as a commentator for WWE’s NXT UK brand and working with ROH earlier in his career. His in-ring return earlier this year marked his first official match in over a decade, making his comeback one of the more talked-about moments of the Forbidden Door event.
He remains a regular voice on AEW Collision and is confirmed to provide commentary for the upcoming October 25 taped episode from San Antonio, Texas.
