Ric Flair Questions Why WWE Still Has No Wrestlers Union

Ric Flair Questions Why WWE Still Has No Wrestlers Union

Ric Flair has weighed in on the long running debate surrounding a potential wrestlers’ union and questioned why the industry still operates without one, particularly when it comes to WWE.

Speaking on the Legally Goff Podcast on March 11, 2026, the two time Hall of Famer reflected on how drastically the business has changed since the early days of his career. Flair explained that guaranteed contracts were not always part of professional wrestling and that performers were once paid strictly based on whether they worked.

“You know, contracts just came around in the 90s. You didn’t go to work, you didn’t get paid. And that’s why it was such a hard business.”

While discussing how the business model has evolved over time, Flair pointed out that one major element has remained unchanged. Despite the industry becoming more corporate and profitable, wrestlers still do not have a union representing them.

“We still don’t have a union.”

Flair went on to explain how wrestlers are classified within the system today, noting that talent are generally treated as independent contractors rather than traditional employees. Because of that structure, many of the protections commonly seen in other professional sports and entertainment industries do not apply to wrestling.

“We’re self-employed. I mean, they take care of you if you get hurt in the ring, but if you have an issue outside of the ring, you’ve got to buy your own health insurance and everything.”

He added that the situation is especially surprising given how much the wrestling industry has grown financially in recent years. Flair referenced WWE’s major corporate shift in 2023 when the company merged with Endeavor to form TKO Group Holdings in a deal valued at roughly $9 billion.

“There’s no union, which is unheard of for a billion-dollar company. I mean, they just sold WWE for billion to who bought them? I can’t remember, Endeavor or somebody. But it’s a whole different world now.”

William Regal’s WWE NXT Return May Not Be A One-Time Appearance

William Regal made an unexpected appearance on the March 10, 2026 episode of WWE NXT, and it appears the moment may signal the start of a more consistent on-screen role.

During the broadcast, Regal was seen at ringside alongside Fit Finlay during a key development in the storyline involving their sons. The segment featured Charlie Dempsey turning on Tavion Heights before joining forces with Lexis King’s faction, escalating tensions in the ongoing rivalry.

While the appearance fit naturally within the show’s narrative, it also stood out for another reason. A report from PWInsider on March 11 revealed that Regal had not been spotted at the WWE Performance Center for quite some time before appearing on this week’s episode of NXT. The report also noted that he had been away from traveling with the WWE main roster for an extended period, making Tuesday’s appearance the first time he had been present at a WWE event in a while.

That absence may now be ending. According to the report, there is internal expectation within WWE that both Regal and Finlay will begin making regular appearances on NXT moving forward.

If those plans materialize, Regal’s return could become an important element in the developing storyline centered around Charlie Dempsey and the Birthright faction. After spending a lengthy period away from WWE shows, Regal now appears to be back in the mix.

Cody Rhodes Considers Embracing “Golden Boy” Identity During WWE Title Reign

Cody Rhodes may be entering a new phase of his championship run, and it could revolve around a nickname that was never intended as a compliment.

While appearing on Complex’s Graps the Podcast on March 11, 2026, the Undisputed WWE Champion spoke about his current mindset as he continues his reign at the top of WWE. Rhodes admitted that even with years of experience across multiple promotions, he still feels like he is searching for the version of himself that truly defines who he is as a champion.

“Even at my experience level in pro wrestling, I still haven’t fully found who I am, and I would like this to be the reign that defines who I am.”

During the interview, Rhodes revealed that he recently heard someone refer to him as a “golden boy.” The term was apparently meant in a critical way, but Rhodes explained that he had the opposite reaction and immediately liked the idea.

“I heard a term, that was said in a condescending fashion, but I didn’t take it that way, I actually blushed. I heard someone say ‘golden boy’, and I loved it. I don’t know if I was supposed to love it, especially with how they were saying it. But I thought, ‘okay, maybe I’ll lean into that’, and maybe that’s the identity of this reign.”

Rhodes also spoke about the pace he feels he is working at right now compared to others in the industry. Confident in his current momentum, he suggested that if he continues performing at this level, embracing the “golden boy” identity could be a natural fit.

“I’m certainly out there in terms of output, and hopefully this is the one time I say it otherwise it becomes self obsessed, but I’m outrunning everybody on the treadmill right now, even the guy I consider my largest competition. If that’s gonna be the case, I’ll take this golden boy moniker and see where it goes.”

He also hinted that the concept might even influence how he presents himself at WrestleMania. Rhodes noted that every title reign brings a different side of a performer, and he hopes this one finally delivers the identity he has been searching for.

“I might even dial up my WrestleMania gear to lean into it further. I know that’s a bit vague but I’d like this reign to give me an identity that perhaps I’ve been seeking, because every reign is different.”

Rhodes recently regained the Undisputed WWE Championship after defeating Drew McIntyre on SmackDown. He is now set to defend the title against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42.

Swerve Strickland Hints At Massive AEW Salary During Online Debate

Swerve Strickland Hints At Massive AEW Salary During Online Debate

Swerve Strickland may have just dropped a major hint about his AEW salary, and it sounds like the numbers being debated online are nowhere near reality.

The conversation started after a hypothetical contract comparison graphic began circulating on social media. The post speculated that an AEW main event star might earn around $600,000 per year on a five year deal, while a WWE contract could potentially offer $1 million annually but with a mid card role.

While the figures were purely fictional, Strickland jumped into the discussion and quickly shut down the idea that $600K reflected anything close to his actual earnings.

“My main events are like 5x that.”

One fan questioned whether Strickland’s television presence would justify that kind of payday.

“They’re paying you 3 million a year and you have no influence on ratings??? lol I’m a fan but dam.”

Strickland did not hold back in his response, firing back at the criticism and pointing toward his performance in AEW’s biggest television spots.

“Do the homework on my last dynamite Main event.”

Strickland signed a major multi year deal with All Elite Wrestling in 2024, securing his place in the company for the foreseeable future. If his comment reflects the true scale of his contract, it suggests AEW is willing to invest heavily in keeping him positioned as one of the promotion’s top stars.

Whether fans believe the figure or not, Strickland made one thing clear in the exchange. He has no problem reminding people exactly where he sits on the AEW roster.

Statlander grabbed a mic and warned Thekla to “be afraid of what you need to do to keep me down.”

The Demand def. The Bang Bang Gang

Ricochet, Toa Liona, and Bishop Kaun defeated Juice Robinson, Ace Austin, and Austin Gunn in under 15 minutes. Ricochet used his National Championship belt to strike Austin, while Gunn was also taken out. Kaun pinned Gunn for the finish. Ricochet cut a post‑match promo that drew strong heat.

Andrade El Idolo def. Mascara Dorada

One of the standout matches of the taping. Don Callis interfered by attacking Dorada at the announce table. Andrade won after hitting a hammerlock DDT off the middle rope and then The Message at just under 19 minutes.

After the match, Bandido came out, followed by Rocky Romero, who attacked him. Brody King then hit the ring, only for Swerve Strickland to appear and lay him out. Trent Beretta also got involved.
