Backstage Update On Jelly Roll’s WWE Future Ahead Of WrestleMania

Jelly Roll’s potential involvement at WrestleMania 42 continues to be a talking point, but one rumored pairing now appears to be off the table.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed speculation that Jelly Roll could team up with Royce Keys on the grand stage. After looking into the situation, Meltzer noted that he was informed the pairing is not currently planned. While there is still no official confirmation that Jelly Roll will step into the ring at WrestleMania, the direction of recent television suggests WWE is building toward something.

“I kind of wonder where they’re going with Jelly Roll,” Meltzer said. “It just feels to me they’re going to build to some gimmick match with Kit Wilson, maybe a tag with The Miz because The Miz has been involved in the storyline. They could do that. I had asked about the story because there was a story about Royce Keys, and I was told that it’s not Royce Keys, for whatever that’s worth. I wasn’t actually told that there is a match [for Jelly Roll], but when you look at it, it certainly seems like they’re building it.”

Jelly Roll made his return to WWE television on last week’s episode of SmackDown, where he found himself in a segment alongside The Miz and Kit Wilson. The appearance took a chaotic turn during Miz TV, as Jelly Roll accidentally struck The Miz after Wilson managed to dodge the incoming blow.

Despite his limited in ring experience, Jelly Roll has already shown a strong commitment to the business. The chart topping artist previously competed at SummerSlam 2025, teaming with Randy Orton in a losing effort against Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre. His preparation for that bout reportedly earned praise internally, even as he remained self critical about his performance.

The storyline is set to continue on SmackDown this week, with Kit Wilson calling out Jelly Roll, further fueling speculation about what role the music star could play at WrestleMania 42.

The Bella Twins Confirm Final WWE Run With New Two Year Deals

The Bella Twins are officially back in WWE for an extended run, with Nikki and Brie Bella confirming they have signed new contracts and are preparing for what they expect to be their final chapter in the ring.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, the duo revealed that Brie’s return during the 2026 Royal Rumble coincided with both sisters agreeing to new two year deals with WWE. They made it clear this run is intended to lead directly into retirement.

“For me, I don’t think you and I will ever get that last retirement moment that like John [Cena] got and AJ Styles got,” Nikki said. “Let’s be honest, the men get, right?

“I don’t think you and I will ever get that, but I would love to have that. Because I do know that the contract that we signed, we signed a two-year deal starting Royal Rumble. And for you and I, the talks we’ve had and what I know just where I’m at, that’s it. That will be the end for me and for us.”

The Hall of Fame duo are wasting no time making an impact, as they are set to challenge Nia Jax and Lash Legend for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on this week’s SmackDown.

Nikki also shared her hopes of creating a memorable send off, even if she is unsure whether WWE will provide a traditional farewell moment.

“I want to have some of my best matches. I want to have a lot of fun,” Nikki said. “But I want to have like an iconic moment where it’s like, I could look back and go, ‘Damn, that was a great two years.’ We did it. I don’t want to walk away with any what ifs… I want to look back at these past two years that we’re about to create and be like, ‘Damn, girl. We did it.’”

With their legacy already cemented as WWE Hall of Famers, The Bellas are now focused on ticking off one final major goal, capturing the Women’s Tag Team Titles together. Nikki noted how meaningful that achievement would be, especially at this stage in their lives.

“This is like the final thing,” Nikki said. “So when I’m like 60, 70, 80, hopefully 90s, sitting with Brie on a porch, wine tasting, wine making, like we could, ‘Girl, we did that.’ We did Evolution. We did this. Tag team champs. Like, that’s how my mind works, like that’s accomplishments. But dang, to do it as moms. Nothing is better.”

This week’s SmackDown takes place at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, with just four weeks remaining until WrestleMania 42.

Ricochet Social Media Controversy Draws Attention From Mainstream Media

Ricochet Social Media Controversy Draws Attention From Mainstream Media

Ricochet has found himself at the center of wider media attention following a controversial social media exchange that has now reached outlets beyond the wrestling world.

The situation gained traction after TMZ Sports covered the story, highlighting both Ricochet’s original post and the apology that followed. The incident began when Ricochet responded harshly to a fan on Monday, stating he was “glad” she had multiple sclerosis after she criticized his acting. The comment quickly sparked backlash, prompting Ricochet to issue a public apology the next day.

“I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently others who are effected by MS,” he wrote. “She didnt deserve it and for that, I sincerely apologize. Moving forward I’ll do better.”

The controversy has also been picked up internationally, with UK tabloid The Sun reporting on the situation as it continued to circulate online.

Further insight into the timeline came during Wrestling Observer Radio, where Dave Meltzer explained that Ricochet’s decision to remove the original tweet was influenced by someone close to him.

“And then what ended up happening was, one of his friends called him and said, ‘You know, you really should take the tweet down.’ So he took the tweet down,” Meltzer said. “And upon thinking about it, he then apologized. Nobody forced his apology or anything like that. He decided to apologize and he did.”

Meltzer also noted that, as of now, there has been no official response from AEW regarding the incident.

“As far as where it stands elsewhere, as far as I know he has gotten no , I’ve heard nothing from AEW or anything like that as far as what happened.”

Adding to the situation, Ricochet was absent from AEW Dynamite following his loss of the AEW National Championship at Revolution. Meanwhile, his wife, Samantha Johnson, has deactivated her X account after reportedly receiving violent threats amid the backlash.

WINC Watchlist: AJ Lee’s Greatest Matches

Lee came up in WWE alongside Kaitlyn, and one of her best matches to date was against her friend at Payback in 2013 where Lee won her first Divas Championship. The women were given almost 10 minutes for their pay-per-view match, which led to one of the most important victories in Lee’s career.

Lee earned the right to challenge Kaitlyn for the Divas title by winning a battle royal on an edition of “Raw.” While the match didn’t have much story behind it, initially, Kaitlyn started to receive gifts from a “secret admirer” following Lee’s win, which turned out to be Dolph Ziggler, who was alongside a heel Lee at the time, and Lee’s bodyguard, Big E Langston. It all turned out to be a mind game planned by Lee, however, which helped her get inside the champion’s head when Langston dropped Kaitlyn in the ring during the reveal.

Kaitlyn wasn’t playing around to start off the match, and she threw Lee over the commentary desk to try and take her out early. Lee rallied quickly, however, and hit double neck breakers to the champion and locked in a sleeper. Kaitlyn looked to have the match won with a big shoulder off the ropes, but Lee popped up to lock in the Black Widow, and Kaitlyn countered into a pin attempt.

At one point in the match, Kaitlyn removed Lee’s belt, but it was Lee who clocked the champion with it behind the referee’s back. Kaitlyn caught Lee off a cross body, but Lee quickly moved into the Black Widow once again. Kaitlyn again escaped the hold and hit a spear to Lee. The champion attempted another spear, but went head-first into the turnbuckle, allowing for Lee to regroup enough to lock in the Black Widow a third time for the victory.
