WWE RAW 3/16/2026: 3 Things We Hated And 3 Things We Loved

I wrote last week that I was a big fan of Judgment Day turning on Finn Balor and “The Prince” finally breaking free of the stable, but tonight, there wasn’t much follow-up to that, perhaps due to Dominik Mysterio’s latest injury. The one thing that did happen, however, was Liv Morgan attempting to re-write history via promo segment, and it didn’t quite land for me.

I guess if Mysterio is injured, they had to do something tonight to continue the story, or at least acknowledge the big angle from last week. Morgan was already there to accompany Raquel Rodriguez to the ring for her match against Morgan’s WrestleMania 42 opponent, Stephanie Vaquer, so it seems like WWE just threw her in front of a camera to cut a promo about it all.

The contents of the promo basically tried to rewrite Judgment Day history, or at least, relatively recent history. Morgan said that getting Balor out of the faction had been her plan since the day she joined Judgment Day. That was really odd, as WWE accompanied that sentence with video of her actual goal, which was to destroy Rhea Ripley and take everything she had, including Ripley’s then-boyfriend, Mysterio. As she said it, the video from SummerSlam 2024 played when Mysterio sided with her and left Ripley in the ring, and it just didn’t work.

Morgan then continued, telling Balor he had been on borrowed time and she only tolerated him because he was friends with Mysterio. Sure, the Judgment Day has had its issues, but none of them have really been focused around Morgan taking over the faction. There have been more issues between her and Roxanne Perez, before Morgan got injured, that were starting to be the focus on the stable’s storyline, and Morgan sometimes didn’t agree with Balor, but there was never a strong story about her taking over the group entirely, though she and Balor did butt heads at times.

The one thing Morgan mentioned that was correct was that Balor had gotten soft, which we had seen when he chose to do things himself, like go after World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk. But, that was really the only thing that made sense here. Morgan mentioned the other members of the stable, but nobody else was there with her.

It would have made more sense, and actually would have been more interesting, to hear from JD McDonagh, who really turned his back on his friend last week and sided with Judgment Day instead. This didn’t work, and it’s likely because of Mysterio’s injury, but to have such a hot angle last week not get a good follow-up kind of stunk.

WWE Officially Announces Brock Lesnar’s Opponent For WrestleMania 42

Another WrestleMania 42 match was made official on Monday’s edition of “WWE Raw” following a chaotic opening segment that saw Brock Lesnar initially confront Seth Rollins on behalf of Paul Heyman, and ended with “The Beast Incarnate” underneath the boot of Oba Femi.

It was announced that Femi vs. Lesnar is official for “The Showcase of the Immortals” after Femi arrived to confront Lesnar, then sent him crashing down to the mat with a huge Fall From Grace powerbomb. Lesnar and Heyman announced an open challenge to determine Lesnar’s WrestleMania opponent on the February 23 edition of “Raw,” and Femi answered that challenge on Monday.

Later on in the show, the match was made official with a graphic. The pair sparked rumors of a WrestleMania match back at the Royal Rumble when, after numerous teases in the match, they finally squared up to one another. Lesnar ended up eliminating Femi from the match, after “The Ruler” had an impressive showing from the #1 spot.

Penta Defeats Dragon Lee In Impromptu Men’s WWE Intercontinental Title Match On Raw

Penta beat Dragon Lee in his second defense of the Intercontinental Championship during “WWE Raw.”

Penta won the title two weeks ago from Dominik Mysterio, defending it for the first time against Ludwig Kaiser’s El Grande Americano during last week’s show.

On Monday’s show, JD McDonagh was seen arguing with Adam Pearce about the next opportunity belonging to Mysterio, to which Pearce said that Mysterio was not cleared – having been in AAA action over the weekend – and McDonagh then argued that he should get the shot.

Penta walked past, taunted McDonagh, thanked Pearce, and went down to the ring to defend his title in an open challenge, which was then answered by Dragon Lee. Commentary made much about the idea that Lee was wrestling a much more violent contest, as though his defeat to Gunther earlier this month had lit a fire beneath him.

Ultimately the bout concluded after a Mexican Destroyer from the champion for the winning pinfall. After the bell, Penta offered his hand to Lee, who reciprocated for the two luchadors to share their moment of respect to close the segment.

Oba Femi Stuns Brock Lesnar, Appears to Answer WrestleMania 42 Challenge on WWE Raw

Oba Femi Stuns Brock Lesnar, Appears to Answer WrestleMania 42 Challenge on WWE Raw

The opening segment of WWE Raw delivered major developments as Seth Rollins and his group of masked allies kicked off the show, but it was Oba Femi who ultimately left the biggest mark , and possibly set up a blockbuster match for WrestleMania 42.

Rollins opened the show alongside several masked men wearing black hoodies as he addressed the fallout from last week’s shocking attack on Paul Heyman. The longtime advocate was struck with a chair by Rollins and was taken out of the arena in an ambulance after the assault.

Despite the injuries, Heyman appeared on Raw to confront his former ally. Heyman warned Rollins about the consequences of his actions, telling him that when you “f*** around and find out,” it turns into “FA-F5.” Moments later, the arena erupted as Brock Lesnar made his return.

“The Beast Incarnate” quickly went to work, taking out Rollins’ masked allies at ringside. Lesnar delivered a series of suplexes and F5s to the men guarding Rollins inside the ring before finally coming face-to-face with “The Visionary.”

Before Lesnar could attack Rollins, however, the arena lights suddenly went out. When they returned, the music of Oba Femi hit and the imposing star made his way to the ring. With Rollins retreating to the outside, Femi stepped directly to Lesnar and stunned the crowd by delivering a massive Fall From Grace powerbomb to the former WWE Champion.

Femi then stood over Lesnar, placing his foot on the fallen Beast and pointing directly at the WrestleMania sign , a gesture that appeared to answer Lesnar’s open challenge for WrestleMania 42.

If the moment was any indication, WWE may be teasing a massive showdown between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar on the grandest stage of them all.
