Eric Bischoff Comments On Story About WWE Nearly Debuting New NWO In ThunderDome Era

When you’re in the New World Order (nWo), you’re in it for life. However, if you’re part of the original pack, you’re not in on its plans to potentially expand. Well, lack thereof. As the 30th anniversary of the formation of nWo approaches on July 7, talks to reboot the cool anti-heroes made its rounds around the creative tables in WWE during the ThunderDome era back in 2020. Eric Bischoff, who showcased the trendsetting stable in his promotion at the now defunct WCW, was unaware of these discussions. Even most of its other members were in the dark on these talks, too.

“Sean Waltman [X-Pac] reached out to me and said, ‘Hey, did you ever hear anything about this?’ I said, ‘I never heard anything about that,’ and neither did Kevin Nash, apparently, according to Sean Waltman,” the former nWo manager said on his “83 Weeks” podcast. “You know, the three surviving members of the nWo knew nothing about it. So, obviously, we weren’t involved in it, which makes me think maybe there’s something lost in translation along the way here.”

In a recent interview with “Public Enemies Podcast HQ,” former WWE writer Chris Dunn revealed that the Stamford-based promotion was desperate for ideas at a time when the world had shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One idea that sparked interest among those in charge of writing for WWE’s flagship television programs mentioned the idea of bringing back the nWo, but with newer prime athletes like Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura, and former stars Cesaro and Lars Sullivan leading the charge.

As Dunn recounted, the idea was “close to happening,” though plans to have one of its original members (not X-Pac, according to Dunn) introduce the new nWo didn’t come to fruition. The reason being the star, who Dunn couldn’t recall in his interview, didn’t pass their COVID test, thus causing them to delay, then eventually scrapping the idea.

TNA’s Frankie Kazarian Opens Up About Relationship With Retired WWE HOFer AJ Styles

The relationship between Frankie Kazarian and AJ Styles stretches back more than 20 years, with the two frequently crossing paths in TNA Wrestling, and occasionally, on the indie circuit. That’s why it comes as no surprise that Kazarian was one of the first to learn about “The Phenomenal One’s” in-ring retirement.

“Nobody’s happier for the guy than I am,” Kazarian said on “Talk Is Jericho.” “I know him better than most people on the planet. Him, myself, Samoa Joe and Chris Daniels. You can’t be in a car and the same hotel room with a guy for five, seven, eight years and not get to know them really well. When you’re talking about the guys standing up at my wedding, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, there’s a bond there. He’s a brother and a friend. My god, what a career. He had an amazing career before he went to WWE. Then he got to WWE and he was there for a decade and did everything you could possibly do and opened the world’s eyes to who he was. So just really, really cool.”

According to Kazarian, he first found out about Styles’ retirement plans in late 2025. When the two then reunited at the AMC debut of “Thursday Night Impact” in January 2026, Styles informed Kazarian that his existing WWE contract was about three weeks away from expiring.

Styles’ final match pitted him against “The Career Killer” GUNTHER at the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble. Beforehand, Styles wanted to face Kazarian one last time if given the opportunity. Ultimately, no such match ever materialized. Kazarian and Styles did, however, appear on-screen together on “WWE Raw” during the latter’s career celebration ceremony.

Roxanne Perez Identifies Moment She Knew She Was Ready For WWE’s Main Roster

It’s been more than a year since WWE called up Roxanne Perez from the NXT brand, and the 24-year-old has since settled into her role as a member of The Judgment Day. Speaking to Complex, Perez was asked to identify the moment when she felt she was truly ready to perform regularly on the main roster.

“Honestly, I think that moment for me was the Royal Rumble in 2025, where I outlasted every other woman in the Royal Rumble and I was [one of] the last two standing with ‘The Queen’ herself, Charlotte Flair,” Perez said. “Unfortunately, I was eliminated, but as I sat there and watched her celebrate, I just realized – I’m 23 years old at the time, I’m standing in the ring with Charlotte Flair. … This is exactly where I belong.”

Perez joined The Judgment Day just several months after her full-time call-up. At the time, Liv Morgan was injured, and there was some tension between the two upon Morgan’s return which has since been resolved. Nearly a year after joining the group, Perez feels fully integrated.

“I’m here for The Judgment Day, no matter what it takes,” she said. “If they need chicken tendies, I got them with the chicken tendies. If they need a tag partner, I got them with a tag partner. If they need help with absolutely anything, … I will do whatever it takes, and I feel like I’ve proven that time and time and time again.”

As the youngest member of the group, Perez views her age as a strength and not a weakness, and she believes her allies are well aware of all that she brings to the table.

TNA Sources Reportedly Unhappy Over Tessa Blanchard Working With CMLL

Tessa Blanchard has been back on the TNA Knockouts roster for 18 months at the time of writing, and in that time she has challenged for singles and tag team gold. She has also attempted to rebuild her reputation as fans, and even some wrestlers, have not forgotten about her previous allegations of racism and bullying towards other female wrestlers. However, she might be in hot water again, only this time it’s to do with the wrestling war between WWE, AEW, and their respective partners in Mexico, CMLL and AAA.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TNA officials aren’t happy with the fact that Blanchard has been wrestling for CMLL, with Meltzer claiming that TNA doesn’t want any of its wrestlers working for that promotion. Blanchard has been making appearances for CMLL since October 2025, which was already a surprise to some as she had been working there for over a year before deciding to re-sign with TNA in December 2024.

However, over WWE WrestleMania 42 weekend, Blanchard wrestled Persephone for the CMLL World Women’s Championship at a CMLL event. This has naturally caused a stir in TNA as Persephone is signed to a dual AEW-CMLL contract, and given TNA’s working relationship with WWE, who also own CMLL’s biggest rivals in AAA, TNA officials, and even those in positions of power above the TNA officials, don’t want one of their wrestlers working with an AEW wrestler.

Blanchard and Persephone have crossed paths multiple times in Arena Mexico this year, albeit in tag team action, but their singles match happening over WrestleMania weekend is what angered people. Meltzer rounded off by saying that TNA shouldn’t really care about this situation because the real wars are between WWE and AEW, as well CMLL and AAA. However, the fact that there is pressure on Blanchard to stop working for CMLL led to Meltzer saying that it “just confirms what everyone already knows about TNA.”
