Dave Meltzer Explains Odd Choice For AAA TripleMania Venue

During AAA’s Noche de Los Grandes show, it was announced that their annual TripleMania show would be taking place over two nights. Fans were not happy when it was announced that Night One will take place in Las Vegas while Night Two will be in Mexico City. Dave Meltzer was baffled at the decision because the venue in Vegas is small and Monterrey had a large, loud crowd for Noches de Los Grandes.

On an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer provided more of an explanation on why WWE would choose to run a small venue in Vegas. “I’ve been told there are business reasons. My gut is that whether it’s sponsors, whether it’s people looking for a TV deal or whatever, I think the idea is that they can get them to travel to Vegas.” As for why the show is running at a venue that holds 600-1,000 fans, Meltzer said, “you want it packed and don’t want to risk empty seats.” Due to the big shows WWE just had in Vegas, he doesn’t think that they could draw a crowd of 7,000 or 8,000 people. He thinks the setup and presentation for Luxor Theater is another factor. The whole idea is to sell them “the perception of AAA being super hot”.

Former WWE Star Fabian Aichner Discusses Future In TNA

After taking a year off following his WWE release, Fabian Aichner finds himself in TNA, having agreed to a contract with the promotion that lasts through the summer. And while it may just be a short run, Aichner is filled with hope that it’s going to be an eventful one, admitting to “WhatCulture Wrestling” that he was feeling better about wrestling than he had some time. And a big reason for that is because TNA is going to allow him to be his authentic self.

“Obviously, the Giovanni Vinci character, or persona, was an important part of my career, and I’m grateful for that experience,” Aichner said. “But having my real name back just feels a little bit more authentic, a little bit more to who I really am, a little bit more real to my values.

“Really, all I’m doing is that cliched saying in wrestling, I turned up the volume a little bit. I take things that are really me, and I amplify them a little bit, then I put them on TV. And I think that’s why that first and second appearance already felt very different to me in TNA. It feels very authentic. I get goosebumps talking about it a little bit, and I really can’t wait for the future.”

Having set his sights on X-Division Champion Cedric Alexander Aichner spoke about the possibility of competing in Ultimate X. It’s a match he may have been less sure about wrestling beforehand, but not now with his renewed confidence.

“I think I can conquer the world at the moment, so if I get the opportunity, I’m definitely going to go in confident and doing whatever I can to get that title out of it,” Aichner said. “I don’t know how I’m going to do it, because I’ve never done anything like climbing on a rope to get a title, hanging above the ring. But we’ll find out man. It’s going to be one of those times where it’s the first time, where you’ll never forget. But I’m looking forward to it.”

Backstage Update On Possibility Of TNA’s Mike Santana In WWE

Mike Santana may be the current TNA World Champion, but according to a new report, he’ll be a free agent this year, and WWE has interest in the star. Santana has previously worked in “WWE NXT” through the partnership forged between companies at the beginning of last year.

According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select on Thursday, Santana’s work and professionalism are highly regarded in WWE, and there is support from at least one main roster talent for WWE bringing him in. The outlet reported that WWE would debut Santana on the main roster by the end of the year if he is signed, but what brand he would appear on hasn’t been decided.

Santana’s TNA deal is expected to be up this summer, according to WrestleVotes Radio, but exactly when the deal expires wasn’t noted. Santana hasn’t publicly stated what he plans to do, whether that be re-sign with TNA, or leave for WWE.

He won the TNA World Championship for the first time back at Bound for Glory 2025 from “NXT” star Trick Williams. He won the title a second time from Frankie Kazarian on January 15, when “TNA iMPACT” made its debut on the AMC network. He most recently defended the gold against Steve Maclin on the May 15 edition of “iMPACT.”

He made his “NXT” debut in May 2025 at Battleground and defeated Tavion Heights in his first match on the brand. He first challenged Williams for the TNA Championship in WWE in June, then didn’t appear on WWE programming again until the WWE vs. TNA “Showdown” angle, when TNA stars invaded the WWE Performance Center to brawl with “NXT” talent.

Nick Khan Says WWE Will Never Listen To Social Media Criticism From ‘Vocal Minority’

Whether it’s WrestleMania heading to Saudi Arabia next year, the ticket prices of major events, or the creative direction of weekly storylines, fans have never been shy when it comes to airing their frustrations about what they dislike about WWE’s programming on social media. However, in past years, the promotion has continued to reiterate that it doesn’t value online chatter, and during an interview with “Sports Business Journal” earlier this week, WWE President Nick Khan was adamant that the company doesn’t take fan complaints on social media seriously.

“Well look, I’ve never read X or Twitter as it relates to our business and I’ve certainly never read it regarding me. That is a vocal minority … I’m bcc’d on every email that comes into our fan service, email address, as is Chris Legentil, who’s our head of comms and head of talent. And some of the complaints are, ‘I didn’t like the match. You guys are pieces of s**t,’ or whatever, okay, I got it. Some are, ‘Hey, we had an obstructed view.’ Okay, we’ll have you come to our next show. People are allowed to complain, but we don’t adjust our business based on complaint. We adjust our business based on ratings, revenue, relevancy.”

Over the past year, Khan has defended some of WWE’s decisions that seemed to have caused online backlash, stating that he believes fans worldwide will travel to Saudi Arabia for WrestleMania. Additionally, he stood by the current ticket prices for the company’s events, claiming that the market demand has determined the cost for a ticket today.

AEW’s Jim Ross Doesn’t Believe WWE Shareholder Lawsuit Will Be ‘Over Quickly’

The WWE Shareholders lawsuit against Vince McMahon is scheduled to begin on June 8. The shareholders believe McMahon sold WWE to Endeavor to help himself stay in power and shut out potential buyers that may have been more suitable. Last week, McMahon and WWE President Nick Khan were sanctioned by Judge J. Travis Laster for their handling for Signal messages, which were allowed to “disappear”. McMahon, Khan, and other TKO executives are expected to testify during the trial.

On “Grilling JR”, AEW’s Jim Ross weighed in on the upcoming trial. “Where there’s smoke there’s fire and there’s fire here, I think. That’s a very unique case that’s going to expose a lot of conversations.” Due to a lot of money being involved, he expects it to be very hostile. Ross notes that he doesn’t know Khan, but he’s been successful with WWE. He says his former boss “has a noose around his neck.” Ross said “it’s not a case that will be over quickly, I don’t think. Because of verbiage; ‘what did you mean by that?'” He also says it’s taking important people away from their work for an extended period of time and they can’t afford to be distracted.

B.J. Bethel reports that the trail will begin on Monday and run through Wednesday. The court will have an off day on Thursday and the trial will end on Friday. POST Wrestling’s Brandon Thurston confirmed the schedule. He notes that a judge will not make a judgement for several months.
