WWE Considered nWo Revival in 2020 Featuring Sheamus, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura

WWE Considered nWo Revival in 2020 Featuring Sheamus, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura

An nWo revival was reportedly considered within WWE during the early stages of the pandemic era in 2020.

Speaking on the Public Enemies Podcast, former WWE writer Chris Dunn, who worked for the company from 2016 to 2021, revealed that a modern version of the faction was pitched while WWE programming was being produced under restricted conditions.

“Do you guys remember that ThunderDome? Really tough to do TV in there, so a lot of ideas were thrown against the wall [laughs]. So, it was discussed at one point, bringing back the nWo 2020,” Dunn said.

According to Dunn, the proposed lineup included Sheamus, Cesaro (now known as Claudio Castagnoli), Shinsuke Nakamura, and Lars Sullivan. The concept reportedly advanced to the point where WWE planned to introduce the group with the involvement of a legendary nWo member.

“The pitch was Sheamus, Cesaro, Nakamura, and Lars Sullivan. It was really close to happening… I forget which legendary nWo member was supposed to fly to Orlando to introduce this new nWo. But essentially they landed and they didn’t pass the COVID test.”

Dunn noted that while a debut had been discussed, there were no long-term creative plans in place beyond the initial launch, with the idea being to develop direction as the storyline progressed.

At the time, WWE was producing shows from the Performance Center before transitioning later in 2020 to the ThunderDome setup across multiple Florida venues. The uncertain environment led to a wide range of experimental ideas being explored.

The proposed faction never materialized. Sullivan exited WWE not long after, while Cesaro left the company in 2022 to join AEW. Sheamus and Nakamura remain active members of the WWE roster.

Following Dunn’s comments, Kevin Nash responded on social media, stating that he had not heard anything about the proposed revival. He added that neither Scott Hall nor Sean Waltman (X-Pac) were aware of the idea.

“Never heard anything about it. Scott and @TheRealXPac and myself were out almost every weekend together. So it definitely wasn’t one of us.”

The original nWo faction, led by Hulk Hogan alongside Nash, Hall, and Waltman, remains one of the most influential groups in wrestling history and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2020.

AEW Announces Redemption 2026 in Montreal

AEW Announces Redemption 2026 in Montreal

All Elite Wrestling has officially announced a new pay-per-view event titled Redemption, set to take place on July 26, 2026, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The event will mark AEW’s first-ever Redemption show and the company’s debut pay-per-view in Montreal. It will also serve as AEW’s tenth annual pay-per-view event on its 2026 calendar.

Ticket sales for the show begin with Early Access Premium Seating on May 26, 2026, followed by general public availability starting June 1. Fans can purchase tickets through AEWTix.com.

The addition of Redemption fills a key gap in AEW’s summer schedule between its established events. The company previously confirmed AEW Forbidden Door 2026 for June and AEW All In 2026 for August, making Redemption a new centerpiece event for July.

The Bell Centre, which has a seating capacity of over 21,000, has hosted numerous major wrestling events in the past, including WWE pay-per-views, SmackDown specials, NXT TakeOver shows, and multiple Survivor Series events.

AEW has increased its presence in Canada over the past two years, and this event continues that expansion strategy with a major international market.

The updated AEW 2026 pay-per-view schedule now includes:

  • AEW Double or Nothing 2026 on May 24 at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York (completed)
  • AEW Forbidden Door 2026 on June 28 at SAP Center in San Jose, California
  • AEW Redemption 2026 on July 26 at the Bell Centre in Montreal
  • AEW All In 2026 on August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London, England

The announcement follows AEW Double or Nothing 2026, where Tony Khan addressed several business-related topics during the post-show media scrum, including the possibility of running an event during WrestleMania 43 weekend in 2027, the Paramount-WBD merger, Madison Square Garden, and future plans for the MyAEW streaming service.

AEW’s Thekla Comments On ‘Race’ With WWE Star For Spot As Top Austrian Wrestler

Despite spending the majority of her career in Japan before eventually signing with AEW in 2025, Thekla is very proud to be Austrian. The current AEW Women’s World Champion was born and raised in the Austrian capital of Vienna, and is the only performer from Austria on the All Elite Wrestling roster, but she isn’t the only well known wrestler from Vienna currently working today. The other notable name from European country is, of course, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, and during a recent interview on “The Sal Licata Show,” Thekla was asked if her success in AEW makes her the greatest Austrian wrestler working today.

“That’s a tight race,” Thekla said. “I’m going to say I usually do put myself on the number one spot, but I’m glad–I mean I’m glad he’s a guy, I’m a girl you know? We don’t have to actually race for that spot, but I think he can do s*** that I can’t do and vice versa. Let’s put it that way.” Like GUNTHER, Thekla wrestled in her home country when she started out, as well as making the trip across the border to Germany. However, she quickly established her name on an international scale when she first made the trip to Japan, eventually getting her breakthrough while working for Ice Ribbon until 2021.

GUNTHER also took the long trip to Japan during his pre-WWE days, wrestling for the likes of ZERO1-MAX and Big Japan Pro Wrestling as he idolized the Japanese legends of the past when putting together his own in-ring style. However, he primarily stayed in Europe during his time on the independent scene before signing with WWE in 2018.

WWE NXT Results 5/26 – NXT Women’s Title On The Line, Kelani Jordan Faces Wren Sinclair

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.’s results for “WWE NXT” on May 26, 2026, coming to you live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida!Grey watching from the outside as Jordan stands over Sinclair in the ringDarkState in the ringVan Dux pinning LegacyDiggs, Nattie, and Parker on the outsideHendrix, Naraku, and D'Angelo in the ringBoth men in the ring staring down one anotherThe two men in the ringVice standing over Dame WWE/Netflix

The bell rings and Dame fires off shoulders on Vice’s midsection in the corner. Vice lands a spinning kick on Dame’s midsection and levels her with a cannonball off the ring apron on the outside, then dumps Dame back inside the ring.

Dame lands a backstabber on Parker, but OTM appears at ringside and brawl with Spears and Vance to the back as a confused Dame watches from inside the ring. She then delivers a kick to Vice’s midsection during the commercial break and fires off shoulders on her spine in the corner, before whipping her into the opposite corner and landing a backbreaker on her.

Dame lands a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Vice, but Vice looks to lock in an armbar on Dame. Dame blocks it with an S-Grip and Vice transitions into a Triangle, but Dame reverses into a variation of a Boston Crab.

Vice rocks Dame with a kick back from the break, but Dame sets up for a Shining Wizard on Vice. She accidentally hits the referee, but Dame levels Vice with a clothesline back from the break and the two women exchange right hands with one another as the referee is still down.

Dame looks to land a kick on Vice, but Vice pins her. Dame kicks out with the referee having begun his count late, causing Vice to check on the referee moments after. This opens the door for Dame to grab the NXT Women’s Championship from the outside and throw it over to Vice, then uses it as Vice holds it to run her over with a big boot. She goes for a pin, but Vice kicks out.

Vice cinches in a submission on Dame, but Dame counters into a roll up. Vice kicks out and delivers a spinning back heel kick to Dame for the win.

Winner (and still): Lola Vice

Moments before the show goes off the air, DarkState appears on their way out of the Performance Center and says after they defeat Myles Borne and Tavion Heights next Tuesday, they’re coming for the gold. The camera pans over to their left, and we see Saquon Shugars watching from the top of a production truck.

WWE Raw Viewership & Ratings Report, 5/18/2026

The May 18 edition of “WWE Raw” stayed consistent in viewership over the course of seven days, as compared to the previous week’s episode. The show saw a hot opening angle with Jacob Fatu calling out World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns, after weeks of the pair opening the red brand.

According to Wrestlenomics, with data from Netflix, the May 18 episode of “Raw” drew 2.6 million global views over a seven day period, with 4.6 million hours of the show watched. The global views were consistent with the May 11 episode, but more hours of that show were watched, with Netflix reporting 4.8 million hours viewed.

“Raw” ranked seventh for the week globally, and fifth in the United States, down from its position at fourth domestically the previous week. The show was beaten out in the states by “Nemesis,” “The Boroughs,” “The Roast of Kevin Hart,” and season three of “Worst Ex Ever.”

In addition to the opening angle with Reigns and Fatu, further setting up their Clash in Italy rematch, the show also saw Finn Balor defeat JD McDonagh once again, this time in a street fight. Sol Ruca called out Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch, setting up their non-title match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and Paige and Brie Bella successfully defended their Women’s Tag Team Championships against Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez.

The main event saw Seth Rollins defeat Austin Theory. The post-match angle continued Rollins’ storyline with the Street Profits as well as The Vision, when Angelo Dawkins ran out to help him, then took a spear from Bron Breakker.
