Jimmy Hart Details Warning Hulk Hogan About Negative Reaction Before Final WWE RAW Appearance In Los Angeles

Jimmy Hart Reveals Hulk Hogan Knew Crowd Reaction Before Final RAW Appearance

Jimmy Hart has opened up about the moments leading into Hulk Hogan’s final WWE appearance, revealing that concerns about the crowd reaction were discussed well before the segment took place.

Speaking with Cody Rhodes on the What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Hart recalled his conversations with Hogan ahead of the January 6, 2025 episode of WWE RAW. That show marked WWE’s debut on Netflix and was held at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

The segment was designed as both a major appearance for Hogan and a promotional push for his Real American Beer brand. However, the live crowd responded negatively throughout, loudly booing Hogan during his time on screen. The reaction was widely linked to his public political stance leading into the event, which became one of the biggest talking points coming out of the show.

Hart explained that he had serious concerns about how the California audience would respond and made those clear to Hogan multiple times throughout the day.

“I said, ‘you know where we’re going? We’re going to California.’ And like I said before, I’m not a Democrat or Republican. I’m jabroni. But here’s the deal. I said, ‘I don’t like this.’ ‘Jimmy, don’t worry about it.’ I went, ‘Okay.’ We get out of the van there, nice town car puts us there. Some fans go ‘Hulk, we loved you, but you love them. We don’t like you anymore.’ You know. I said ‘Hulk, I don’t feel good about this.’ ‘Jimmy, don’t worry about it.’ We go in the back. You know what I’m worrying about it.”

Even shortly before going out, Hogan checked in with Hart again for his thoughts.

“So we’re in the back and Hulk, he goes ‘Jimmy Hart, what do you think?’ He’d always ask before we do something. And I just said, ‘no, everything’s good, you know, everything’s okay.’ So, we went out and did the little thing with, rehearse where we were going to stand and help coming out, do his little deal. And I’m waving the flag.”

Following the segment, Hogan acknowledged that he had anticipated the possibility of a negative reaction.

“So we finish it, then we go in the back. And of course, then Hulk comes up going ‘hey, the radio was good on that segment we did.’ And I said, ‘well, I guess they should be because with all the commotion that happened on it, I guess we should have.’ And I said ‘but you kept telling me, don’t worry about it. Well, I was worried about it.’ And he goes, ‘Jimmy, look, sometimes you got to do what you got to do.’ And he said ‘I’ve made my bed and I’ve got to lie in it. That’s who I wanted to vote for. That’s what I wanted to do.’ He said ‘I knew in my heart going in there might be a catchy thing.’ But he knew it, you know.”

The appearance would go down as Hogan’s final WWE television segment. Vince McMahon later commented that the presentation could have been handled differently, noting that the crowd reaction overshadowed the intended legacy focus of the moment.

Hogan passed away in July 2025 at the age of 71. A two-time WWE Hall of Fame inductee, he was honored individually in 2005 and again in 2020 as part of the nWo. His last appearance, now further detailed by Hart, highlighted both his awareness of the situation and his willingness to proceed despite the risks.

Hart and Hogan shared a long history together dating back to the early 1990s. Hart notably managed Hogan and Brutus Beefcake as The MegaManiacs and remained aligned with him through his WCW run and the Hollywood Hogan era.

FTR Defeats The Conglomeration, Retains AEW World Tag Titles In Collision Main Event

FTR retained the AEW World Tag Team Champions in the main event of the “AEW Collision” portion of Wednesday’s show.

Cassidy and Strong put on a strong showing in the opening stages of the bout, gaining so much of an advantage that Cash Wheeler pulled Dax Harwood out of the ring to regroup. After that, FTR managed to find their footing through underhanded tactics and Harwood began dominating over Roderick Strong in the middle of the ring.

Strong fought back into the bout with a backbreaker to create some space, but Wheeler tagged in and prevented him from tagging out. Strong fought on and finally tagged out to Cassidy, working together in an exchange with the champions to get a near-fall.

Cassidy later had Harwood pinned for longer than three seconds but Wheeler was distracting the referee so he couldn’t make the count. He continued to avoid the Shatter Machine to get another near-fall but then FTR resumed their control in the ring, setting him up for a double suplex before Strong came in to make the save.

Cassidy got another near-fall before Stokely Hathaway got up on the apron, failing to make a difference at this attempt for his team as Cassidy got yet another near-fall on a roll-up.

FTR connected with a Shatter Machine on Cassidy as the match went on but Strong broke up the resulting cover at two. Harwood threw Cassidy against the ropes in the direction of the referee, creating an opening for Hathaway to strike him. From there Harwood got the pin for the title retention to close the show.

FTR are scheduled to defend the World Tag Team titles against Christian Cage and Adam Copeland at Double or Nothing.

Darby Allin Taps Out Speedball Mike Bailey To Retain AEW World Title On Dynamite

Darby Allin is still AEW World Champion after his defense against “Speedball” Mike Bailey on “AEW Dynamite” on Wednesday, and he moves on to face MJF in a hair-vs-title match at Double or Nothing on Sunday.

Before the match could get underway, MJF’s music hit and he strode down the ramp to join commentary. Bailey immediately got on the offensive to wear down Allin, who initially wasn’t moving as fast after six other successful defenses since winning the gold from MJF mid-April. Bailey looked for the Ultimo Weapon early on, but didn’t risk it.

The men fought on the outside of the ring, and Allin hit a Scorpion Death Drop to Bailey on top of the barricade. They continued on the outside, and Allin tried to neutralize one of Bailey’s strongest weapons by pinning his right foot under the stairs.

Allin dodged the Ultimo Weapon back in the ring and hit a Coffin Drop across Bailey’s back. Before Allin could get the pin, MJF got up and put “Speedball’s” foot on the ropes, which brought out TNT Champion Kevin Knight. Bailey continued to battle, but after an exchange of pin attempts, Allin hit another Scorpion Death Drop and cinched in the Scorpion Death Lock.

After Bailey battled to the ropes, Allin hit another Coffin Drop before locking the hold back in, and “Speedball” had no choice but to tap. Instead of confronting Allin after the match, MJF left through the crowd, but came back to nail Allin with a clothesline after Knight put the champion over on the mic. The pair then battled with a pair of clippers before MJF retreated up the ramp.

Injured Willow Nightingale Withdraws From Owen Hart Tournament, Vacates AEW TBS Title

Willow Nightingale had sad news for fans during “AEW Dynamite” on Wednesday, as she announced in a backstage segment she injured her shoulder during her recent TBS Championship defense against Red Velvet. The match took place Saturday on “AEW Collision.”

In the pre-recorded video, Nightingale said that because of the injury, she has to pull out of the Owen Hart Tournament. She was set to face Alex Windsor at Double or Nothing on Sunday. In addition to not being able to compete in the tournament, Nightingale said she also has to relinquish the TBS Championship.

“But as sure as this smile remains on my face, I will be back,” Nightingale said to end, before leaving the belt in the locker room area. “I don’t know when, but I’ll tell you this. I’m coming right back to the top.”

Commentary announced after the segment that a wild card opponent will take Nightingale’s place in the tournament. Instead of the match against Windsor happening at the pay-per-view, the Double or Nothing match will now be Mina Shirakawa vs. ROH Women’s World Champion Athena. As of this writing, AEW did not announce what will happen with the TBS title.

“The Babe with the Power” defeated Mercedes Mone to capture the gold at “Dynamite: New Year’s Smash” to end 2025. Her reign, her second with the TBS Championship, lasted 140 days.

AEW’s Paul Wight Is Impressed With Coaching Skills Of WWE HOFer

Jon Moxley, Dean Malenko, QT Marshall, Madison Rayne, Christopher Daniels, Chris Hero, and Colt Cabana are just some of the diverse and well proficient coaches in AEW. Although Paul Wight (former WWE star The Big Show) also has a hand in coaching, he does not think his abilities measure up to one name in particular that wasn’t listed intentionally in the first sentence: WWE Hall of Famer, Billy Gunn.

“To me, a good coach is someone like Billy Gunn. I think Billy Gunn is one of the best coaches I’ve ever met in my life,” Wight praised in his sit-down interview on the “High Performance Podcast.” “He understands every mechanical dynamic of what needs to be done and also what they’re trying to do mechanically. He’s so brilliant and so patient. He’s beautiful to watch coach.”

While Wight takes great pride in helping current and prospective wrestlers out, he admits he’s not the guy to call on when learning how to do a 450 splash. Rather, he’s the guy that prefers to assist others in their character development and help them find answers to the age-old questions: “Who you are, and what do you bring to the table?” Of course, as he mentioned, many things in wrestling are duplicated (moves, gimmicks, storylines), but authenticity – and sticking to it – remains the forefront on why he became a coach.
