Will Ospreay Return Update

Will Ospreay Return Update Following Neck Surgery Recovery

A new Will Ospreay return update is drawing attention after fresh details surfaced regarding the AEW star’s recovery process. The latest report indicates that the former AEW International Champion is making solid progress and could be closer to an in-ring comeback than many expected.

According to Fightful Select, Ospreay has recently taken part in training sessions inside the ring before AEW events. Sources told the outlet that those workouts have gone well and that his condition continues to improve.

The report stated that “things look very promising for him to return to form as it relates to the level he was competing at before.” That update has increased optimism that Will Ospreay will eventually return to the level that made him one of AEW’s top performers.

Ospreay has been sidelined since last September after undergoing neck surgery to repair two herniated discs. The injury happened shortly after he competed at the August edition of Forbidden Door. Following the event, AEW wrote him off television through a storyline angle to explain his absence while he recovered from the procedure.

Despite the seriousness of the injury, there has been growing confidence internally about his rehabilitation. The latest Will Ospreay return update noted that discussions have taken place regarding a possible comeback sometime this spring. No official timeline has been confirmed, but there is hope that he could be ready for one of AEW’s biggest events of the year.

One potential target is AEW All In, which is scheduled to take place this summer at Wembley Stadium in London. The show is expected to be one of the promotion’s largest events, and Ospreay appearing there would represent a major moment in front of a home-country crowd.

Earlier this year, there were already signs that his recovery was moving in a positive direction. On January 21, Ospreay was reportedly backstage ahead of an episode of Dynamite where he underwent a medical evaluation. Not long after that, AEW aired a vignette teasing his eventual return to television.

AEW President Tony Khan also spoke about the situation in early February, offering a positive outlook on Ospreay’s rehabilitation and describing his progress as “very, very well.”

While there is still no confirmed date for his return, the latest report indicates that Ospreay continues to move closer to stepping back into the ring.

AEW Dynamite – 3/11/2026: 3 Things We Loved And 3 We Hated

I know I complained about this last week in this very column, but I really would have thought ahead of Revolution that AEW would have done something to remedy the lack of top women’s talent, especially the AEW Women’s World Champion, on “Dynamite.” Remedy, as in, get them on the darn show at some point, rather than have a silly press conference segment that had no business taking up time.

While I’m all for giving people time off, and I’m assuming that’s what was happening here, I don’t really think that’s a good thing in the days leading up to a pay-per-view, especially AEW’s first big event in a few months. Thekla, Kris Statlander, and “Timeless” Toni Storm were all missing from tonight’s show ahead of their matches at Revolution on Saturday.

TBS Champion Willow Nightingale defended her title against Peresphone tonight and had her fellow AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champion Harley Cameron alongside her in a backstage segment. Marina Shafir accompanied the Death Riders to the ring during their show-opening match as well, but it just wasn’t enough to build to the pay-per-view. It felt like just enough for AEW to say, “Hey, at least there were women on the show tonight!”

Sure, Nightingale’s match against Peresphone ruled, and she set up two different matches for herself for both of her championships at Revolution, but the big matches already set for the show were barely acknowledged. Shafir should have had a ringside brawl with Storm since she was out there already. It might not have fit the vibe of the match, which was more for Jon Moxley and Konosuke Takeshita to be on opposing teams ahead of their Continental Championship match, but when has that ever stopped the “Timeless” one from doing whatever she wants?

If I didn’t follow AEW on social media, I don’t think I would have any idea that Thekla is defending her AEW Women’s World Championship in a two-out-of-three falls match with Statlander. That entire rematch has been set up on “AEW Collision” on Saturdays, which is fine, I guess, but a video package or a recap about it all would have been nice to see tonight.

While I thought “Dynamite” was pretty solid overall, I thought this was a pretty big issue. The AEW Men’s World Championship got an entire press conference-turned-brawl segment, while the women’s title was barely acknowledged. As we move forward into AEW’s big pay-per-views of 2026, especially Double or Nothing, All In, and All Out, I hope this doesn’t become a trend.

Ronda Rousey Reignites Cris Cyborg Feud: ‘Obviously A Roided-Up Cheating B****’

Ronda Rousey reignited her feud with Cris Cyborg during the press conference for her upcoming fight against Gina Carano.

Rousey and Cyborg never met in the Octagon, the former occupying the bantamweight division and the latter the featherweight division of UFC. But Cyborg had defeated Carano in what had been her last match to date, becoming the inaugural Strikeforce Women’s Featherweight Champion in 2009.

Cyborg had also beaten Rousey’s close friend and WWE championship-winning tag partner, Shayna Baszler, in a catchweight bout in 2008.

Rousey renewed her war of words with Cyborg after Carano was asked about her last opponent, referencing Cyborg’s 2011 suspension for performance-enhancing drugs.

“Obviously a cheating ‘roided-up b**** that totally cheated you out of your title that was deservingly yours,” Rousey said of Cyborg. “So, you’re too nice to say it, I’m gonna say it, f*** her and you’re the best.”

“I had one failed test for PEDs in my 21 year career,” Cyborg responded. “2011. 15 years ago. The sport was very different at that time, and I didn’t even speak English then. I had no idea the pills given to me in Brazil to “help lose weight” were banned for athletes in the USA. I served my penalty. I learned a life lesson. I have been involved in Olympic style testing for over 15 years without any other issues. I have proven I am a clean athlete.”

Cyborg said she now uses that experience to mentor younger athletes in the importance of knowing dangers of PEDs. But she then turned her attention to Rousey personally.

“When Ronda Rousey hid her face in a pillow… I walked that same experience with dignity and humility something you couldn’t display during your UFC career and something you’re already highlighting with your MVP fight with Gina Carano. One thing I absolutely know is you will say every mean thing in the world… but you won’t fight me. I pray one day you become happy in yourself.”

Rousey and Carano are scheduled to fight, promoted by MVP and streaming via Netflix, on May 16.
