Bully Ray Questions Why Brock Lesnar Returned To WWE So Quickly After ‘Retirement’

When Brock Lesnar removed his boots, gloves, and left them in the ring at WrestleMania 42 after losing to Oba Femi, many took that as a sign that Lesnar was retiring, a feeling bolstered when Lesnar was then moved to the alumni section of WWE’s website. Instead, Lesnar returned to WWE less than a month later, attacking Femi on “Raw” last night to seemingly re-start their feud. Many were left confused by this, including two-time Hall of Famer Bully Ray, who on Tuesday’s “Busted Open Radio” questioned why Lesnar came back so quickly, or at all.

“Brock decided to shock the world by taking off his boots, taking off his fist pads or whatever, those MMA gloves, and he leaves them in the middle of the ring, thus signifying that Brock Lesnar is done,” Bully said. “We even heard Paul Heyman begging and pleading to move him out of…you know the ‘Then, Now, Forever’ area of the opening of the show, and put him in the forever part. All indicators were that Brock Lesnar was done. Brock Lesnar made a conscious effort to tell the world ‘It’s over at WrestleMania.’ A month later, he changed his mind. Why?”

Bully softened his stance somewhat after co-host Tommy Dreamer suggested Lesnar’s retirement was a ruse to lull Femi into a false sense of security. Even still, Bully believes an explanation from Lesnar is in order, which Dreamer believes will be coming in the near distant future.

“When you see Brock Lesnar take off his boots and his gloves, and leave them there and start to tear up and hug Paul Heyman goodbye, you pretty much think that that’s the end for Brock,” Bully said. “Would you agree that we definitely hear from Brock…something, even if it’s as simple as ‘I changed my mind?’ Don’t we need to hear a why Brock Lesnar decided to come back?”

“Yes,” Dreamer said. “And I feel we will. That will be next week.”

WWE’s Jordynne Grace Working To Get Pilot’s License For Charitable Cause

Many wrestlers have outside hobbies away from the ring including gaming, streaming, podcasting, and painting. Jordynne Grace has one that’s kept her busy the last few years and involves furry, four-legged friends. She has documented on social media about her love of fostering dogs. During WrestleMania weekend, she ended up adopting another dog after asking husband and fellow wrestler, Jonathan Gresham to talk her out of it.

Grace is taking her commitment to fostering pets to another level. Last week, “The Juggernaut” posted clips to social media of her flying a plane. After five lessons, she revealed that she is working to obtain a piloting license. She is working with an organization called Pilot N Paws, who work with volunteer pilots to “fly abandoned pets from kill shelters to rescue groups or their forever homes nationally”.

In another video on X, Grace captioned it, “still scared to go from the top rope, mind you”. Grace posted on Instagram a video of her flying with the caption “I took off and landed unassisted today (I think, he told me he didn’t help).

Back in the ring, Grace recently returned from injury. In her first match back on “SmackDown”, she lost a Number One Contender’s match for the Women’s U.S. title to Tiffany Stratton. She also lost to Lash Legend on Main Event the following week.

JBL On WWE Cutting Contracts: ‘That’s Life’

Last month, WWE conducted it’s annual round of talent cuts following WrestleMania, with names like Aleister Black, Kairi Sane, and the Wyatt Sicks all being released from the company. In total, over 20 superstars were let go, causing WWE to face backlash from its fanbase who were particularly upset with the departure of Sane after she was regularly featured on TV each week, and Black, who’s name was originally floated in world title plans ahead of WrestleMania. However, one wrestling legend who doesn’t agree with the audience’s view of the talent cuts is WWE Hall Of Famer JBL, who stated that he doesn’t blame the company for creating roster space on  “Something To Wrestle,” especially with “WWE SmackDown” expected to return to a two-hour program next month.

“I’m not big on bashing WWE over this … that’s life. And that’s life with WWE. I mean, it’s just life in business. I mean, look at companies like Apple or Facebook and they cut people, they’re making so much money. Yeah, but that’s business. That’s one of the reasons they’re making so much money. I mean, they don’t adopt you and so look, is it legit that they say it’s going from three hours to two? I think it probably is, but I think it’s more legit that they’re just cutting people that they think they don’t need, or at least need right now.”

In addition to WWE’s releasing talent after WrestleMania, weeks later they asked multiple stars to take a pay cut, but some rejected the offer, including Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the New Day, who chose to leave the promotion instead of accepting a reduced salary.

AEW’s Swerve Strickland Says Young Bucks Changed Their Minds On Anarchy In The Arena

We’re days away from the eighth iteration of AEW Double or Nothing. Anarchy in the Arena is typically the pay-per-view’s signature match. This year the event is in Queens, New York. The New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) is probably why we’re seeing a Stadium Stampede match in its place as Anarchy in the Arena gets bloody and sometimes people get set on fire. The NYSAC isn’t a fan of those things. The Young Bucks tweeted that they thought they were done with Stadium Stampede matches. They seem to have similar feelings about Anarchy in the Arena matches.

During an interview with Bootleg Kev, Swerve Strickland weighed in on Anarchy in the Arena match he participated in last year. There was a meeting the night before to plan out the match. He says the Bucks hated the match from 2024. “They said putting that together was a nightmare” and Matt Jackson promised he’d never do another one. Last year, they started realizing all of the elements they had with various talent and could do another Anarchy in the Arena. Adding Willow Nightingale and Marina Shafir “switched up the dynamics.” After Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata got involved, “it wasn’t just spots. We had characters to work with.” He feels like that’s where AEW shifted and they got their momentum back.

“Everyone was so unselfish.” He asked Mox if he would take some staples and Mox agreed. He confirms it was his idea to take the staple in tongue and it stayed all match long. He told them to hurry up and do it before he changed his mind. Swerve says they were all laughing putting the match together and they had fun with it. “Everybody was proud of everybody else’s performance.”

AEW’s Athena Talks Current ROH Women’s World Title Run, Beating WWE’s Roman Reigns

At this point, it’s hard to imagine a time when AEW star Athena wasn’t the Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion. At 1,256 days and counting, Athena’s title run has shattered almost every championship record in Ring of Honor’s history. And now, Athena is setting some new goals, one of which involves topping Roman Reigns’ lengthy reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of “Fightful” just days before ROH Supercard of Honor, where Athena retained her championship in a six-woman Survival of the Fittest match, Athena admitted she was gunning for Reigns, whose Universal Title run lasted 1,315 days, 60 days longer than Athena’s reign currently stands. Athena also admitted she wouldn’t be shy about celebrating reaching that milestone, and that she would then turn her sights towards breaking Bruno Sammartino’s thought to be untouchable 2,803 days as WWE Champion.

“When we get through Supercard of Honor this week, and I beat the epic Roman Reigns’ last championship run, I just want you to know that I’m going to be so petty,” Athena said. “I want everyone to know that we are going to have the pettiest celebration ever. We’re going to have cakes, we’re going to have some skittles, whiskey, tequila, you name it…But we’re just going to have a big smorgasbord of a party. We’re going to have a cookout, it’s going to be amazing.

“But… like I said before, my goal is Bruno Sammartino. My goal is Bruno Sammartino. Seven years, seven years. But you know what, when you’re a Forever Champion, what’s years, you know? And a lot of people think that I might be getting ahead of myself, but at the end of the day, I’ve been champion for, what is it, over 1,250 days, or something like that? I don’t see this ending any time soon.”
