Chavo Guerrero Looks Back On Legacy Of His Uncle Eddie

Together with his late uncle Eddie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero made a name for himself in front of the WWE audience, going on to win championship gold together multiple times as Los Guerreros. However, that run was only one chapter of Eddie’s legendary career, and in an appearance on the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, Chavo looked back at everything his uncle achieved.

“We just kind of took for granted how good he was, and others at that time – how good they were. It was just expected,” Chavo opined. He then recalled once catching a Ring Of Honor show being shown in a bar, with Eddie wrestling Super Crazy. “I watched it and I was like, ‘Oh my God. He was so smooth and so good!’ Light years above, beyond, ahead of everybody there. He was so much better.”

Chavo then noted how it’s been over twenty years since Eddie passed, yet he’s still reminded about his late uncle every single day through social media posts, comments, or someone just bringing him up in conversation. It doesn’t bother him, though. “It’s good, man,” he reminisced. “It’s good memories, you know? I miss him. It’s just like he’s still with me.”

Chris Jericho then weighed in, noting how he believes there’s a legitimate argument that Eddie could be the undisputed greatest wrestler of all time. “I think the only thing that stops that is it was a really short period of time,” Jericho noted, pointing out how his main event WWE run was only around two years and he’s been gone for two decades, but many in the industry still pay homage to him all the time.

WWE’s Jacob Fatu Names His Top Five Dream WrestleMania Main Event Opponents

Jacob Fatu has taken part in two WWE WrestleMania matches so far, having taken on LA Knight at WrestleMania 41 to win the WWE United States Championship as well as wrestling an Unsanctioned match against Drew McIntyre at the recent WrestleMania 42.  Appearing on “No-Contest Wrestling,” Fatu was asked to name dream opponents, living or dead, they he would’ve loved to face in the main event of WrestleMania.

“I know Bron [Breakker] for sure; I don’t know what it is about him, man,” he opined during an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” adding that the two of them don’t talk too much but he knows they would have a massive clash if they ever stepped in the ring on opposing ends. “Not only that, with his father and his uncle, you know, they were really good and really close. … So shout out to them; I really respect his father a lot.”

The rest of his choices were more in the realm of fantasy. “I be playing him a lot in the 2K games – Macho Man Randy Savage, you know what I mean?” he proclaimed. “Definitely Jeff Hardy – he’s one of my favorites – you know what I mean?” Fatu also expressed that he would’ve loved to face his late uncle, Umaga, as well.

“Mr. Perfect, yeah, I would have tapped in with Perfect. And then, man I don’t know, I always felt like what would me and Brock Lesnar had looked like, you know what I mean?” Fatu added, further claiming that he’d prefer to face people outside of his family, but admitted that his list was made in the spur of the moment.

Asuka Is ‘Semi Retired’ Following WWE Backlash

There is growing speculation surrounding Asuka’s WWE future following her emotional loss to IYO SKY at Backlash, with new comments from Dave Meltzer suggesting the longtime star may be stepping away from wrestling in some form.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio after the premium live event, Meltzer revealed that he had been told Asuka is considered “semi-retired,” although he admitted the exact situation remains unclear at this stage.

“The story I heard is that she is semi-retired. I haven’t really gotten an exact meaning of what semi-retired means, but I guess people were wishing her goodbye and things like that backstage. So I don’t know if that means she’s going to Japan and still wrestle. I don’t know if that means she’s going to still do stuff here and there, but I was told semi-retired,” Meltzer explained.

Bryan Alvarez also reacted to the update during the discussion and admitted the idea of Asuka stepping away would be difficult to see.

“That sucks, I’m going to miss Asuka,” Alvarez stated.

The conversation later shifted toward WWE’s recent roster cuts, with both Meltzer and Alvarez wondering whether Asuka’s name could somehow be connected to those departures, though neither was able to confirm anything.

“I wonder if she was with other people that was cut. I mean, I don’t know,” Meltzer said.

“I can’t fathom that but I guess it’s possible. But I mean, Kairi was cut and she didn’t even get used to the end of this thing, so,” Alvarez replied.

Fans immediately began speculating after the closing moments of the Backlash match, where Asuka shared an emotional embrace with IYO SKY following their intense rivalry. The scene stood out as one of the most heartfelt moments of the night and only added to rumors that the match may have served as a farewell appearance of some kind.

The storyline between Asuka and IYO SKY had originally been expected to include Kairi Sane before her release from WWE altered the direction of the feud.

Since arriving in WWE in 2015, Asuka has built one of the most decorated careers in modern women’s wrestling history. Over the course of her eleven years with the company, she captured multiple championships across both NXT and the main roster, won the 2018 Women’s Royal Rumble, and also claimed the 2020 Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase.

At 44 years old, Asuka remains one of the most respected and accomplished performers of her generation, making the latest reports surrounding her future a major talking point coming out of Backlash.
