Backstage Report On When Blake Monroe Is Expected To Appear On WWE SmackDown

Former AEW star Blake Monroe has been called up to WWE’s main roster, and a new report has revealed when she could be expected to debut.

There’s a sea of change on the WWE main roster, with several stars from “WWE NXT” being promoted to “WWE Raw” and “WWE SmackDown.” Stars like Oba Femi and Trick Williams have already made an immediate impact, while another name who could soon leave her mark on those brands is Monroe. Following a recent vignette teasing her arrival on the main roster, a report from “PW Insider” has revealed more details about when she could potentially appear, claiming that she will likely debut by the end of the month. They caveated that statement by noting that plans could, of course, change.

Monroe debuted in WWE last June and quickly rose through the ranks in the developmental brand. She won the NXT Women’s North American Championship a few months later and held the title for several weeks before losing it following a botched finish. Earlier this year, Monroe stated that she’s in no hurry to be called up to the main roster, explaining how there is a separate, dedicated fanbase for “NXT.”

Monroe hasn’t featured on the developmental brand over the last two weeks, with her last appearance coming on the April 21 edition, where she lost to NXT Women’s North American Champion Tatum Paxley in a Casket match.

Former WWE Star On Oba Femi: ‘Quite Possibly The Strongest Person I’ve Ever Wrestled’

Oba Femi’s ascent to the top on the WWE main roster has been swift, and it’s no surprise to many who have come against him, with former WWE star Donovan Dijak claiming him to be the strongest wrestler he’s faced.

Femi continued his winning streak on this past week’s “WWE Raw,” where Otis answered his Open Challenge. During the match, the former NXT Champion effortlessly lifted the 330-pound Otis and delivered his signature Fall From Grace finisher. Dijak, a former opponent of Femi, later posted a clip from their match alongside Josh Briggs at NXT Stand & Deliver 2024, where Femi lifted both men onto his shoulders before hitting a Death Valley Driver. After this week’s “Raw,” Dijak declared that Femi is the strongest man he has ever stepped into the ring with.

“We spent days workshopping this spot because Oba is quite possibly the strongest person I’ve ever wrestled and I desperately wanted to showcase that as creatively as possible,” he said.

Femi emerged victorious on both occasions– the triple threat match against Dominik Dijakovic and Josh Briggs, as well as his more recent clash with Otis. The “Raw” star will likely continue his Open Challenge on the red brand, but as of this writing, he doesn’t have a match scheduled for this weekend’s Backlash premium live event.

Dark Side Of The Ring Set For Season 7 Return, Details On Premiere Episode

Pro wrestling is full of big characters, pyro, loud music, and death-defying leaps. For all its glitz and glamour, there has long been a dark, seedy underbelly from the biggest company in the world to the tiny independent promotion the next town over. Thanks to the internet, books, podcasts, and TV shows, we’re learning more of the sport’s dirty little secrets. “Dark Side of the Ring” has spent six seasons giving in-depth accounts of some of these stories, often from the people that directly lived them and can give a firsthand perspective.

The show will return for its seventh season on July 7 and will air its first ever three-part series on Total Nonstop Action (TNA) with TNA co-founder and wrestler, Jeff Jarrett. In an exclusive with Variety, creators and executive producers Evan Husney and Jason Eisner say the upcoming season is their most ambitious yet. “That’s especially true with our three-part exploration of TNA Wrestling, where Jeff Jarrett’s journey of redemption and resilience gives us a unique lens into the highs, struggles, and lasting impact of the foundational years of the company. It’s a perfect example of how compelling and ultimately human these stories really are.”

Along with the episodes onTNA, another topic “Dark Side of The Ring” will explore is the infamous match between Samoa Joe and Necro the Butcher. They will also tell the stories of Missy Hyatt, Zach Gowen, Big Boss Man, Paul Orndorff, and Rick Wilson. Wilson was a former exotic dancer who portrayed “The Renegade”, a generic version of Ultimate Warrior.

When the series premieres in July, VICE will air two back-to-back episodes before moving back to one episode per week on Tuesdays at 9 PM ET.

Nikki & Brie Bella Comment On WWE Departure Of Kairi Sane

The Bella Twins have opined on the recent WWE releases, particularly that of Kairi Sane, and speculated on what could be the reason for her exit.

WWE, once again, let go of many of its stars following WrestleMania, and one of the surprises in that list was Sane, who was being featured prominently in the storyline involving Asuka and IYO Sky. Nikki, on “The Nikki & Brie Show,” discussed rumors that Sane’s release was down to her wanting to return to Japan.

“The cuts are always hard,” Nikki began. “So, it’s all over the internet that her contract was up, and she wanted to go back to Japan. I don’t know what truth is in that. I know it gives me goosebumps, too. I don’t know what truth is in that. And maybe she was thinking like, ‘Oh, we were going to have our Mania match and end it there,’ which I was bummed that they didn’t have their Mania match ’cause the whole time all of his talent thought they were going to have a triple threat, right? We all thought they were going to have a triple threat at WrestleMania. And I think they were going to end up doing it at Backlash because of the involvement in the other match.”

Brie responded by stating that Sane’s return to Japan is the only explanation for her exit.

“To be honest, that only makes sense,” Brie said. “Well, you know what, a lot of people [who] are from out of this country, I’m sure at some point they miss their families and they miss their way of life. So it’s understandable.”

There have been reports that Sane’s exit could be down to her wanting to return to her homeland, but she seemingly dismissed such suggestions with a post she made on social media following her release. Fans have bombarded WWE on social media and clamored for WWE to bring her back, but it seems unlikely it will happen.

Another Ex-NJPW Star Reportedly Expected To Land In WWE, Could Use Nox Raijin Name

WWE is set to add another Japanese star to its roster following the signing of EVIL.

“BodySlam” is reporting that former NJPW star Hiromu Takahashi could be on his way to WWE, with sources at WWE’s Performance Center informing the outlet that he may join the company soon. The report also added that Takahashi could use the ring name Nox Raijin in WWE, which was initially rumored to be the name that was to be given to another recent star who joined from NJPW, EVIL.

However, EVIL has got a different name in WWE as it was announced that he will be called Naraku and will feature on next week’s “NXT.” The “Bodyslam” report claimed that WWE was initially going to call EVIL Nox Raijin, but changed plans and decided to name him Naraku, a decision that was made on Monday. NJPW announced the departure of Takahashi in February, bringing an end to his run with the Japanese promotion after more than 15 years with the company.

Reports following his exit claimed that AEW and WWE were potential destinations for the five-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Takahashi, over the last few years, has featured in AEW multiple times, with his last match coming at the AEW and NJPW co-branded pay-per-view, Forbidden Door, where he clashed against Kyle Fletcher for the AEW TNT Championship. He has also wrestled in CMLL and Pro Wrestling NOAH in recent times.
