Rebel Shares Heartbreaking Terminal ALS Diagnosis After Two Year Health Battle

Rebel has revealed a devastating update regarding her health, sharing that she has now been diagnosed with terminal ALS following a long and difficult medical journey that has kept her away from AEW for the past two years.

The former TNA star had previously opened up about ongoing health struggles, including a lung cancer diagnosis and a condition believed to be a functional neurological disorder. While preparing for lung surgery at the Mayo Clinic, doctors were able to determine the true cause behind her symptoms, confirming that she is battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

ALS is a progressive illness that affects nerve cells and leads to loss of muscle control. There is currently no cure, and the condition typically worsens over time, eventually impacting breathing and mobility.

In a deeply emotional video message shared on May 1, Rebel spoke openly about the diagnosis and what it means for her future. Her speech has noticeably declined compared to previous updates, reflecting the progression of her condition.

“First, I want to say thank you for all your prayers, because for those who know, I spent a two year medical journey trying to find out what is wrong. And finally, our prayers have been answered.

“The thing is, sometimes we don’t want to hear the answer to our prayers.

“And so, while I was waiting to have lung surgery for the masses on my lungs, the doctors at Mayo found, finally found, what’s going on. The doctors have diagnosed me with terminal ALS.

“There is not a lot of research behind ALS, and we don’t know how long I have, but it explains why I have trouble walking and talking, and all my functions will soon decline. But now we can prepare for the future and what is to come.

“And I wanna say thank you to Tony Khan and AEW for supporting me on this medical journey. It has been a blessing that is unheard of. And from the bottom of my heart, thank you. And thank you to all of you for your prayers.

”Please continue to pray for a peaceful journey and a peaceful passing. I love you.“

Rebel also expressed gratitude to AEW and Tony Khan for their continued support throughout her health battle, calling it a blessing during such a challenging time.

WWE’s Bianca Belair & Montez Ford Release First Episode Of ‘Pregnancy Vlog’

Belair closed out the 16-minute vlog by addressing the finger injury she sustained during her triple-threat championship match at WrestleMania 41. Once she realized the injury and recovery attached to it was more extensive than initially thought, Belair then had an important talk with Ford, whom she married in 2018.

“I originally thought it was gonna be a pretty straightforward recovery,” Belair said. “They said eight to 12 weeks, but it just started not really healing correctly. It still won’t bend to this day. That’s as much as it’ll do. I can’t get in the ring. It kind of just got to the point where I hit four months and I have always wanted to have a baby. I’m not getting any younger, and honestly, this is what I want to do. I feel like for so long I was kind of putting what I wanted to do and myself on the back burner. Me and my husband, we had a talk. I kind of just told him, ‘I’m ready just to do something for me, I’ve sacrificed enough, and I’m ready to have a baby.'”

Now at the age of 37, Belair is expecting her first child, whom she revealed as being a baby boy in another behind-the-scenes vlog. At the same time, the former Raw Women’s Champion continues to heal from finger surgery she underwent in February. According to Belair, she not only broke her finger, but also lost a portion of the joint, which resulted in further complications on her road to recovery.

Prior to her WrestleMania 42 appearance, WWE last saw Belair standing in a ring when she served as the special guest referee for Jade Cargill and Naomi’s No Holds Barred match at WWE Evolution in July 2025.

WWE NXT Star Claims AJ Styles Is Now His ‘Personal 1 On 1 Coach At The PC’

Since AJ Styles retired from professional wrestling this past January after losing to GUNTHER at the Royal Rumble, he’s decided to take on the role of being a WWE talent scout. In addition to looking for newer wrestlers to join the Connecticut-based promotion, it seems like Styles is also offering one-on-one lessons as a coach at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, as “WWE NXT” star Lexis King took to social media on Thursday to reveal that “The Phenomenal One” has been training him.

“Not only am I the FASTEST MAN ALIVE, but now AJ Styles is my personal 1 on 1 coach at the PC! Hahaha yall are COOKED!!!”

Although Styles has been satisfied with his new role as a talent scout, he was originally given a taste of a different side of the business post retirement, as WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque revealed last month that the former star was present at some creative meetings. However, Styles didn’t take a liking to being a writer or producer according to “The Game,” but found he had a passion for talent development.

Although King has been part of the “NXT” roster for the past two and a half years, he wasn’t part of the recent round of call-ups to the main roster with many of his ex-AEW colleagues. Since joining the developmental brand, King has been NXT Heritage Cup Champion and just won the WWE Speed Title last month.

Lizzy Rain Talks WWE NXT Debut & Future Goals, Explains Inspiration Behind Finisher

As her name implies, Lizzy Rain made it rain in “WWE NXT” against veteran in the promotion, Nikkita Lyons, this past Tuesday. Succeeding in her first WWE match, the British Superstar spoke with Hall of Famer Bully Ray on “Busted Open After Dark” about her thunderous debut, including what it meant for her to be part of this week’s televised lineup.

“I’m on top of the world. I don’t think I have any words…I’m overwhelmed,” Rain cheerfully said. “It’s what I’ve always wanted, what I’ve worked the last few years on the indies for, you know, what all my heartbreak was for when I had a knee surgery. It just means so much. And to be on WWE TV, it just absolutely blows my mind…I just thought I’d never get there. I did hands on heart, but I’d never get there. And now here I bloody am.”

“The Maiden of Metal” went on to mention what inspired the finishing move she used on Lyons to get the pinfall victory. As she calls it, Thunderstruck, a pop-up Shining Wizard, was inspired by someone once near and dear to WWE, and a former women’s champion of the United Kingdom, where Rain hails from.

Lizzy Rain discusses her WWE finisher and desired opponents

“I got inspired by Meiko Satomura’s Scorpio Rising,” the former PROGRESS World Women’s Champion said of her finisher. “I wanted to do a Shining Wizard, but a lot of people do Shining Wizards. I used to do the knee trembler as a finish, and I still wanted to do some sort of knee or Shining Wizard thing. And me and my coach were just thinking, ‘What else can we do that’s a bit different?’ And we thought, ‘Oh, what about a pop-up one?'”

With so much star power on her side, Rain is awaiting her next attack that she knows her future opponents won’t turn back from. The niece of former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr has two champions (and other non-champion opponents) in mind that she wants to pulverize the gilded pedestals they’ve built, proving their reigns are paper thin to the reign of intensity that she’ll carry.

“The long term goals are obviously winning the North American belt, winning the NXT Women’s belt,” Rain announced. “Tatum [Paxley] is someone I would really like to be in the ring with, and she obviously does have the North American belt. I feel like our styles… and that like personality clash. I think it’s something that everyone wants to see. Also me and Zaria, I feel like a lot of people want to see that.”
