Backstage Update On Injury Status Of WWE’s Stephanie Vaquer

It’s safe to say that Stephanie Vaquer’s WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania 42 didn’t go the way she wanted, as she was defeated in short order by Liv Morgan, losing her WWE Women’s World Championship in the process. Unfortunately, things have only gotten worse for Vaquer since, as she was taken out by Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez in a backstage attack on “Raw,” an angle reportedly done because Vaquer had suffered a legitimate injury.

Sadly for Vaquer, it’s an injury that will not involve a quick recovery. Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that Vaquer will be out of action “for the foreseeable future,” confirming that Monday’s angle was indeed a write-off.

Furthermore, there was conflicting information provided on when Vaquer could return. Some sources were hopeful that she could be back in time for SummerSlam, though it was cautioned that a return for the August event wasn’t guaranteed. Other backstage chatter on Vaquer was a bit more optimistic, suggesting that she could return to action in as little as six weeks, well before SummerSlam. However, it was noted that the six weeks was the minimum she could be out for, and that chatter was also described as speculative.

This will be the first time Vaquer has had to miss any time with injury since first signing with WWE back in 2024. However, the former Women’s World Champion was reportedly in danger of missing time earlier this year after she sustained an ankle injury; ultimately, Vaquer continued to work through it, though she only wrestled one match per month heading into WrestleMania. It remains unclear whether the injury sidelining Vaquer now is the same ankle problem from before, or a different kind of injury.

Report: AJ Lee’s WWE Creative Is ‘Effectively Done’ Following WrestleMania 42

Earlier this month at WrestleMania 42, AJ Lee lost the Women’s Intercontinental Title to Becky Lynch to conclude their seven month feud together, and it doesn’t seem like the three-time Divas Champion will be returning to WWE programming anytime soon.

On Thursday, Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reported they were told by a WWE source that any creative plans for Lee are effectively done at this time. There is reportedly hope within the company that Lee will eventually step back in a WWE ring and be involved in future programs, with many internally eyeing SummerSlam as the destination for her return. On Wednesday, Lee shared a lengthy post on social media that seemed to indicate that her run with the company has come to a stop for now, where she thanked the WWE’s women’s roster, her AJ Leegion fans, and even broke character by praising Lynch despite being her bitter rival since last year.

Lee made her long-awaited return to WWE last September where she teamed with her real-life husband CM Punk at Wrestlepalooza against Seth Rollins and Lynch. Additionally, Lee had the opportunity to compete in WarGames at Survivor Series and win the Women’s Intercontinental Title in her hometown of Chicago, Illinois at the Elimination Chamber this past February. Along with being an in-ring competitor, Lee has various responsibilities outside of professional wrestling, including being an author, working on several film projects, and continuing to be an advocate for mental health awareness and animal welfare.

Bully Ray Explains Why He Isn’t Surprised About The WWE Departure Of Tyra Mae Steele

Ray continued to unpack where Steele went wrong in her pro wrestling stint, harkening back to her final “WWE LFG” match against Sterling, claiming that even while she was injured, she still outperformed Steele in “LFG.” He said Sterling was the clear winner and would have been chosen if not for the injury.

“They gave [Steele] the contract and since the end of season one until this weekend, they did not see enough of Tyra Mae Steele or she did not impress enough to continue her career at WWE,” Ray said.

When it comes to WWE focusing on former athletes to transition into pro wrestling, Ray expressed that he isn’t sure it’s the right direction for the promotion, especially since those athletes often never wanted to be in the industry from the beginning and might not see it as their future anyway. However, he took specific issue with WWE pulling them out of their dedicated sports, only to release them.

“When they don’t make it in your world, you just cut and release them back into their real life, and now their real life might not be waiting for them anymore,” he opined, pointing out that they likely missed out on opportunities in other sports.

“I would love to see [WWE] maybe be a little bit more honest upfront about what can happen, if things can go wrong,” he further explained. “They’re not letting them know the perils or the pitfalls that can happen once it’s all over.”

WWE Releases Official Poster For SummerSlam 2026

Now that the two-night WrestleMania 42 is behind us, we can turn our attention to the next two-night WWE event. One of the company’s “Big Four” PLEs is SummerSlam, which last year was expanded to two nights. This year, it will take place on August 1 and 2 and emanate from US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

WWE posted a graphic for the event on social media to let fans know that combo tickets are available for pre-sale. The poster for “The Biggest Party of the Summer” features current champions Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Liv Morgan, Trick Williams, Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley, and Penta. CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Oba Femi are also included.

Notably absent from the poster is Brock Lesnar, who has been rumored to be retiring at SummerSlam. Lesnar is billed from Minneapolis, won his first WWE Championship at SummerSlam, and returned at SummerSlam last year. However, with his actions following his match at WrestleMania 42, it is unclear if he has officially retired already.

Finn Balor Reveals One Thing He Doesn’t Miss About Being Part Of WWE’s Judgment Day

Just over a month before WrestleMania 42, the Judgment Day shockingly turned on Finn Balor and kicked him out of the group on “WWE Raw.” The betrayal followed months of WWE teasing a breakup between Balor and the faction, but “The Prince” has been able to bounce back since being on his own again, and he recently revealed his favourite part about no longer working with the Judgment Day.

“One thing I do NOT MISS is walking out to that Judgment Day Music.”

Several members of the Judgment Day have been vocal about their frustrations with the theme music for the faction, with Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio specifically criticizing the song in interviews. Earlier this month, Morgan released her first-ever song titled “Trouble,” which was accompanied by a music video and is being used as her theme song going forward. However, Mysterio is still clamoring to get his personal entrance music changed, stating that he wants the song “Sucio Dom,” which means “Dirty Dom,” by Mexican singer/songwriters Adriel Favela and Calle 24. Mysterio has also named other artists he’d like to work with such as Fuerza Régida and JOP, explaining that it’s not often a professional wrestler gets to use Corridos or traditional Mexican music as their theme song.

Two weeks ago at WrestleMania, Balor overcame Mysterio in a Street Fight as his alter-ego “The Demon,” making it the first time he’s won using the persona since Super ShowDown 2019 when he defeated former WWE star Andrade.
