Rumor Killer On Alleged AEW/PWTees Split

It was an eventful Tuesday for AEW, despite the promotion being one day away from their tapings of “Dynamite” and “Collision: Playoff Palooza” in Portland, Oregon. Not only did TrillerTV officially announce the end of AEW+, but rumors began to swirl that AEW had ended its collaboration with ProWrestlingTees following a Reddit post suggesting as such, and several artists confirming they would no longer be designing AEW merchandise going forward.

But at least for now, those rumors appear to be unfounded. Shortly after the rumors began to gain steam, PWTees owner Ryan Barkan sent a statement to Fightful, denying that the AEW/PWTees relationship had come to an end. Barkan’s statement was also released on PWTee’s X account and other social media platforms.

“The person who made the reddit post circulating has no knowledge of our business,” Barkan said. “‪Nothing on that post is true except that we unfortunately told some of our contracted designers that we would not need them for as many AEW designs anymore. ‬‪Some of the AEW designers are still contracted. Nothing has changed otherwise and we are still fulfilling merchandise for AEW.”

Barkan’s statement not only seemingly kills the rumor, but appears to reinforce that the AEW/PWTees relationship will continue. The promotion and t-shirt company have had a working relationship since AEW first launched in 2019, and several AEW talents such as the Young Bucks and Colt Cabana and strong ties to PWTees even before AEW was launched. For their part, AEW has made no comment on either the initial rumor, nor Barkan’s statement denying the rumor.

WWE Star Paige’s Life To Become Stage Musical

After several years away working for AEW and on non-wrestling related projects, Paige made her triumphant return to WWE at WrestleMania 42, winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships with Brie Bella as a replacement for Brie’s sister Nikki. And the title victory only appears to be the start of Paige’s homecoming, as her life story, previously adapted into the film “Fighting With My Family,” will now become a musical.

Deadline reports that “Fighting With My Family” is now being adapted into a musical production, with the film’s producer/star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and writer/director Stephen Merchant involved as producers. British playwright Jon Brittain will write the book and lyrics for the musical, while the songs will be written by English musicians songwriters Miranda Cooper and Nick Coler. Cooper’s production company, Tilted Musicals, will develop the musical, with the hope of a public production occurring in 2027.

“‘Fighting With My Family‘ feels exceptionally well-suited for the stage,” Johnson said in a statement. “It’s packed with personal emotion expressed through the dynamic world of wrestling, which has always been about storytelling and connecting with a live audience…As it comes to life musically, I have no doubt it will be an absolute blast for theatergoers.”

Released in early 2019, “Fighting With My Family” proved to be a minor hit, grossing $41.5 million worldwide against a budget of just $11 million while receiving good reviews. Though it starred notable talents such as Nick Frost, Lena Headley, Vince Vaughn, and Johnson playing himself, the film is best remembered for being a launching pad for actors Florence Pugh and Jack Lowden, who portrayed Paige and her brother, former AEW star Zak Knight.

Austin Theory Went To Great Lengths To Conceal Identity As WWE’s Masked Man

WWE’s Austin Theory was the mystery man revealed last December, and he’s opened up about how he kept it a secret.

A mystery, hooded man had run riot in WWE last year, which eventually turned out to be Theory, who joined The Vision. Despite the numerous rumors that other stars were under the mask, Theory has clarified that he was the only one who donned the masked outfit.

“Yes, every time it was me. It wasn’t all these other guys you think it was,” he said to Adrian Hernandez. “It was my ass, you know, everybody was like, ‘Oh, that’s got to be Austin Theory.'”

Theory revealed in the interview that he had to go to great lengths to keep his identity a secret, so much so that he would have elaborate travel plans so that he didn’t give anybody a clue that he was the masked man.

“My travel was crazy. I was flying into the opposite city, staying at the hotel, then I’d have a chauffeur pick me up, take me to the arena. But the best part is because when you get to the shows, there’s fans waiting outside already. And sometimes, you know, they can see through and try to figure out who it is. So, my favorite part was most of the time when these chauffeurs picked me up, they had no idea like who I was or what I was doing. So, right when I get close to the building, I put my black hoodie on, I put my shiesty on, I put my hood on, and the brother driving’s just like looking in the rearview like, ‘Am I about to get robbed? Like, what’s happening?'”

Theory said that he would keep his face fully covered even when he was backstage at WWE events and that not many people knew that it was him under the balaclava.
