Booker T Says WWE Needed Better Security Over WrestleMania 42 Weekend

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has hit out at fans who crowded wrestlers during WrestleMania 42 weekend, stating that the WWE stars needed better security.

Reports have emerged that fans were seeking autographs at the hotel where WWE wrestlers and staff were staying over WrestleMania weekend, and even clashed with CM Punk. Booker T, on his “Hall of Fame” show, spoke about his experience and requested fans to be mindful of what the wrestlers go through.

“Give the guys a little bit of a break, a little bit of space at certain times, because it’s taxing. It truly is and I say that because walking through MGM Grand, man, we needed some better security in MGM Grand this year just because it was really, really hard for [me], I can only imagine what the superstars, the guys that’s actually going out there and doing it in the ring, how it felt for them because I got mobbed and I’m not even doing this anymore. Hopefully, we can get that fixed,” he said.

The veteran star and “WWE NXT” commentator said a fan followed him into the restroom to take a picture with him, which angered him immensely.

“I was walking out of the hotel, and a guy just blocked me, and he’s got his camera out like this, trying to [take a selfie], it was just so disrespectful. And if I would have bumped him and he went down or something, he probably would have been trying to sue me,” he said. “They were camped out. You couldn’t walk anywhere. And they were following in the bathroom. I remember the guy literally was filming me in the bathroom. And when I walked out, he goes, ‘Hey Booker.’ And I just kept walking because I was so mad because he was filming me in the bathroom.”

He admitted that it was the toughest fan interaction he has had in his long career, stating that the fans were disrespectful.

Backstage Update On AEW Plans For Grand Slam Mexico 2026

As the summer schedule for AEW begins to take shape, one of last year’s biggest TV specials has yet to be added to the company’s list of upcoming dates. That special being the Grand Slam Mexico edition of “AEW Dynamite,” which was the episode of AEW television with the highest viewership throughout 2025. Last year’s event took place on June 18 at the iconic Arena Mexico in Mexico City, and while the 2026 edition of the show might not be officially announced at the time of writing, it is most certainly in the works.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported earlier this week that AEW officials are in talks with CMLL about bringing Grand Slam Mexico back for a second consecutive year, but that the event won’t be taking place in June like last year. No word has been given as of yet regarding when the event will be held, but Meltzer did note that Grand Slam Mexico 2026 would take place after the month of June.

AEW currently has all of its weekly shows announced up to the week of June 10 with the second annual Summer Blockbuster special, meaning there is a gap between then and the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 28, a show which CMLL will be a part of, but it could mean that Grand Slam Mexico 2026 acts as a stop on the road to either the new Redemption pay-per-view which is rumored to be taking place in July, or All In London on August 30.

Last year’s Grand Slam Mexico event saw Mercedes Mone defeat Zeuxis to become the CMLL World Women’s Champion. Mistico defeated MJF via disqualification, which eventually led to their rematch at CMLL’s 92 anniversary show that September, and the all-star team of The Young Bucks, the Death Riders, and The Beast Mortos defeating The Opps, Swerve Strickland, and Will Ospreay.

Big Damo (Fka WWE’s Killian Dain) Reportedly Signs With MLW

Big Damo, formerly Killian Dain in WWE, has signed for MLW and will make his debut in the promotion soon.

Damo, who was previously a part of the Sanity faction in WWE, has wrestled in numerous promotions worldwide, featuring in AEW, TNA Wrestling, and PROGRESS, to name a few. The imposing star will soon be seen in an MLW ring, which was first reported by “Fightful Select.”

The report claimed that MLW plans to use him as a “major” star. The promotion’s decision to hire Damo is part of their larger plan of adding more European stars to their roster. “Fightful Select” stated that the new star will be in the CONTRA faction, and he is set to be a part of the promotion’s tapings in Chattanooga on May 9, followed by shows in New York on June 11, and Philadelphia the following two days.

MLW later announced Damo’s signing on social media and confirmed that he will be a part of the show in Chattanooga.

The Sanity faction that Damo was in during his time in WWE reunited after Damo’s release from the promotion, and the trio — led by Eric Young and including Alexander Wolfe — continues to wrestle in the independent promotions like PROGRESS and ICW.
