CM Punk Filmed In Brief Altercation With Fan Following WWE WrestleMania 42

Look in CM Punk’s eyes, what do you see? Him taking down another invadee (a fan). We don’t know his anger (fully), but saw his dreams crumble right in front of him by “The OTC.” All jokes aside, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was not shy on how he felt about a fan filming a private moment, as he was seen swatting a phone right out of a fan’s hand, who was capturing Punk’s wife AJ Lee and Bayley embracing in a hug at a Las Vegas hotel hours after “The Super Bowl of Pro Wrestling” concluded.

In a video uploaded by TMZ Sports, someone captured the moment of when Punk smacked a phone away from a fan. Security stepped in to create distance between the fan and Punk. Punk’s mentor Ace Steel was also there to help diffuse the situation. The fan repeatedly apologized to Punk for capturing that private moment, to which Punk replied, “No, you’re not.” The video ends with Punk and Lee leaving together.

Punk is one of several WWE stars who’ve been quite vocal about fans overstepping their boundaries just to get photos or autographs. His recent public service announcement on the matter came in October of 2025, where he posted on social media, “We unfortunately have to have this conversation again. Do not turn up at airports. Do not show up at hotels. I cannot believe I have to say this. DO NOT FOLLOW PEOPLE. You’ve repeatedly been politely told no, respect it. You are not a fan, you are a stalker and will be treated as such. Respect the boundaries. Stop harassing people.”

“The Best in the World” is recovering from the closing main event of WrestleMania 42 on Sunday evening, where he fell to Roman Reigns. Punk’s reign with the World Heavyweight Championship began on November 1, 2025, marking 169 days with the belt. This past Sunday marks the 11th main event that Reigns has been featured in. It’s been two years since “The Head of the Table” has held gold, as he lost his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, after a historic 1,316 day reign.

Triple H Says WWE WrestleMania 42 Match Was One Of The Greatest He’s Ever Seen

It was not the easiest road to WrestleMania 42 for WWE this year, and the promotion has emerged from the two night extravaganza with as many questions as it has answered. But it’s also heading out of WrestleMania season with yet another classic added to the history of their flagship event, with Night Two’s closing salvo, Roman Reigns defeating CM Punk to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, proving to be a hit with anyone who tuned in to watch it.

Perhaps no one is happier with how the match came out than WWE’s chief content officer Triple H, a man who has many classic WrestleMania matches under his belt. Reacting to WrestleMania 42 during a post-show appearance on “SportsCenter,” Triple H used every superlative he could think of while praising Reigns vs. Punk, a match he believes will stand the test of time.

“Just epic,” Triple H said. “You can see the passion and the pride of two guys that absolutely, to the very core of their soul, believe that they are the best in the world. And they’re out there to prove it to each other, they’re out there to prove it to the 55,000+ fans that were here tonight. Everything about them screamed ‘I have to show I am the best.’

“And you see it all the way down to the end. [A] Knock-down, drag-out fight that just someone won’t give [up]. And you finally get to the end of it, no one really loses. But Roman Reigns comes out the winner. Roman Reigns is the new World Heavyweight Champion. To me, [it’s] one of the greatest matches I’ve ever seen. [It] doesn’t get bigger.”

WWE ‘Backed Off’ Pat McAfee Storyline After Negative Fan Reaction

Another WrestleMania season has concluded and now it’s on to the fallout of the two-night event. One person already affected is Pat McAfee. When it was revealed that McAfee was the person Randy Orton had been talking to for weeks, fans were confused and let down. Then, he cut two terrible promos about how the product sucks. The backlash from fans was immediate. Even with McAfee seemingly giving away the match result when he said that if Orton lost, McAfee would leave WWE TV forever, the reaction reportedly forced the winner of the match to be changed.

During an episode of Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer said he was under the impression that they killed the angle with McAfee because while he was getting heat, it was the wrong kind. “Jelly Roll was there and did his thing, but he wasn’t there for the finish. There was nothing there that led me to believe there was going to be a tag match.” It was previously reported that a tag match with Rhodes and Jelly Roll versus Orton and McAfee was planned for Backlash. Meltzer reiterated that they back off of the McAfee angle. WWE used McAfee to garner more publicity for the show.

Prior to WrestleMania, it was reported that Orton was “hurting” although it’s unclear how severe it is and if that played into the outcome of Night One’s end. Rhodes was also injured during the match with his eye swollen shut and his in-ring return is questionable. A fan event with Rhodes was canceled on Sunday morning.

Former Champion Announces Withdrawal From UFC 328

UFC 328 is set to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on May 9, with two title fights headlining the card. However, one fight that would have had major implications on the light heavyweight division has been scrapped due to an injury.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz took to Instagram earlier this week to confirm that he has had to pull out of his scheduled fight with Bogdan Guskov at UFC 328. The Polish fighter revealed that he has suffered a torn meniscus, and is not happy about being forced off of such a major card.

Blachowicz wrote: “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. I was supposed to be in the States next week, but plans had to change. I’m beyond p*****. Last round of sparring, wrong position and a kick to the knee. Torn meniscus. The plan and goal were clear, so the disappointment is huge. But this isn’t the end! I’m already working on getting back as soon as possible. Coming back to finish things on my own terms. @gloverteixeira it looks like I won’t get the chance to meet you on your mat for the second time. Third time’s the charm! See you soon! Oss.”

The fight with Guskov was set to be a rematch from their bout at UFC 323 which ended in a majority draw, with the former champion hoping to get back in the win column for the first time since 2022 after his last four fights ended in two draws and two losses. Nothing has been mentioned regarding finding a replacement opponent for Guskov at the time of writing.
