Stephanie McMahon Takes Shot at Sami Zayn During Hall of Fame Speech

Stephanie McMahon Takes Shot at Sami Zayn During Hall of Fame Speech

Stephanie McMahon delivered a memorable moment at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony by briefly stepping back into her on-screen character from the Authority era.

During her induction speech in Las Vegas, Stephanie shifted tone midway through her remarks and delivered a surprise heel-style promo. The moment stood out as she mixed humor with a throwback to one of WWE’s most recognizable storylines.

At one point, she declared herself “the most powerful boss btch ever,”* before directing an unexpected comment toward Sami Zayn.

“While you were cheering for underdogs and B+ players, I see you Sami Zayn,” Stephanie said. “I was busy running this company and turning it into the global juggernaut that it is today.”

The line echoed the language used during the Authority’s rivalry with Daniel Bryan and the “Yes!” Movement in the lead-up to WrestleMania, giving the segment a nostalgic feel for longtime viewers.

Zayn responded quickly after the ceremony. On social media, he tagged Stephanie and referenced a well-known viral meme to react to the comment.

“Why she say f**k me for?”

The exchange added a light moment to Hall of Fame weekend while also tying into current storylines. Zayn is set to defend the United States Championship against Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42 Sunday. Lil Yachty is expected to be in his corner for the match.

Stephanie’s brief return to her Authority persona gave fans a reminder of her past role on WWE television. The moment blended past and present, connecting a previous era with current talent in a way that stood out during the ceremony.

Sid Eudy’s Son Criticizes WWE Hall of Fame Legacy Induction

Sid Eudy’s Son Criticizes WWE Hall of Fame Legacy Induction

The son of Sid Eudy has publicly criticized WWE following his father’s induction into the Hall of Fame as part of the Legacy Wing.

Sid, known to fans as Sycho Sid and Sid Vicious, was honored during Friday night’s ceremony alongside Bad News Brown. The induction was presented in video form, with both families shown briefly in the crowd, but neither was invited to speak or appear on stage.

On Saturday, Gunnar Eudy shared a detailed statement on Facebook, expressing frustration with how the induction was handled.

“Thank you to everyone for all the love and support you’ve shown our family. It means the world, and I appreciate every single person who had my dad’s back.

Last night’s so-called ‘Hall of Fame induction’ for my father, Sid Eudy ‘Sycho Sid’ ‘Sid Vicious’ was straight up disappointing and disrespectful as hell. I’m glad my dad was big enough to put himself over even in death, because WWE damn sure wouldn’t.

I didn’t see one single ad for him here in Vegas. The Hall of Fame gift shop had zero merch for my dad not a damn thing, But they were loaded with all the Dennis Rodman crap you could want. It felt like they just swept him under the rug like a footnote, rushing to get him out of the way.

Maybe if we had waited another 20 years until all those jealous, insecure ex-colleagues were gone you know the ones who could never match his athletic ability, his looks, or his unbreakable will power to tell them “no” he would’ve finally gotten the full induction he actually deserved.

Still, I’m trying to stay positive for my son’s sake: I got to bring him, and he doesn’t know they did his grandpa dirty. He just got to see his hero honored. That moment with my boy made it worth it. And at least we walked away with the real Hall of Fame ring I’m adding pictures of it here because that’s something solid we can actually hold onto while the rest of this felt like a slap in the face.

Rest in power, Dad. The Master and Ruler of the World got his flowers… even if WWE tried to shortchange you one last time. They were always jealous. 💪🖤

Congratulations to Bad news Brown and Sid Vicious and Demolition.”

The comments highlight frustration with the Legacy Wing format, which does not include full in-ring speeches or extended recognition during the ceremony. The format has been in place since 2016, when WWE introduced it to honor past stars and pioneers in a condensed presentation.

Sid’s legacy in professional wrestling includes multiple world championship reigns across major promotions. He was a two-time WWF Champion and two-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and remained a recognizable figure from the late 1980s through the 1990s.

While the induction ensures Sid’s place in WWE history, Gunnar Eudy’s reaction reflects ongoing criticism from families and fans regarding how Legacy inductees are presented compared to headline Hall of Fame names.

Stephanie Vaquer Always Knew She’d Join WWE: ‘I Never Had Plan B’

It’s only been a year since Stephanie Vaquer was called up to WWE’s main roster, and during that time she’s been able to stand toe-to-toe with stars like IYO SKY and Tiffany Stratton, be featured on multiple Premium Live Events, as well as become Women’s World Champion. However, before achieving success on the highest level in WWE, Vaquer wrestled internationally for 16 years in countries like Mexico and Japan, where she became one of the most gifted female stars not signed to a major promotion. Although she finally joined WWE in her early 30s, Vaquer admitted in a recent interview on “Insight” that there were several moments when she wanted to quit the sport, but always believed she would accomplish her goal of becoming a WWE star.

“Many time, but I don’t know how I can explain that, but I knew it. I always say, I never have plan B. I always have the plan to my dream. I never say ‘Oh if that not happen maybe I can go and be I don’t know,’ I never think about that. I never thought I can’t do that. I always say yeah this is my dream and I will be and we’re here. But it’s crazy, I can’t really explain the feeling. I knew it and maybe not like this, this is better. This is better than my dream, not like this, but yeah, I think maybe destiny.”

In addition to becoming a major star in CMLL throughout the 2020s, Vaquer also had the opportunity to showcase her talents in AEW before signing with WWE, where she lost the NJPW STRONG Women’s Title to Mercedes Mone at Forbidden Door 2024. Vaquer has returned to Mexico once since joining WWE, as she made her Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide debut last year at Worlds Collide.

Cody Rhodes Points Out Outside Involvement Trend In His WWE WrestleMania Main Events

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is no stranger to a chaotic WrestleMania build. Outside of his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 to face Seth Rollins, either his ‘Mania match itself, or the build around it has been divisive amongst WWE fans. Rhodes appeared on ESPN’s “Unsportsmanlike” podcast ahead of his WrestleMania 42 bout against Randy Orton, with Pat McAfee in his corner, and talked about the ongoing trend of his WrestleMania matches.

“I feel bad pointing this out, but the first WrestleMania main event, well three years, there’s involvement outside of me vs. Roman Reigns straight up,” Rhodes explained. “The ‘Final Boss’ enters the fray. That becomes a situation. Last year, WrestleMania, me vs. John Cena, there’s outside involvement again. Travis Scott enters the fray. That’s a whole other situation. That’s what I do. Being a Cody Rhodes fan at WrestleMania season is a choice. It’s an experience. We’re going to have people who want to drop in and, hey, it’s interesting.”

While Rhodes famously finished his story against Roman Reigns to win the title at WrestleMania 40 after losing to the “Tribal Chief” at the 39th edition of the event, the match almost didn’t happen thanks to involvement from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson also interfered in the build to WrestleMania 41, as a newly-heel Cena aligned with The Rock, in addition to Travis Scott. The “Final Boss” never showed up to ‘Mania, however, leaving Scott to leisurely stroll down the ramp before helping Cena win the title.

Rhodes is set to defend his gold against Orton on Saturday. The match has been a talking point for fans for weeks, and not in a good way, after the reveal of McAfee as Orton’s mystery ally.

ESPN Writer Andreas Hale Denied Access To WWE WrestleMania 42

ESPN reporter Andreas Hale took to social media to announce he had been blocked access to WrestleMania 42, despite the ongoing relationship between WWE and its PLE partner.

WWE agreed a deal to air Premium Live Events via ESPN+ reportedly worth $1.6 billion for five years, and in the build-up to WrestleMania 42 has been prominently working with ESPN personalities including Stephen A. Smith.

However, it appears there will be no objective coverage from ESPN at the event, with Hale revealing that his credentials for the event had been denied with no reason given to either him or ESPN.

“I will not be covering WrestleMania 42 for ESPN,” Hale wrote via X. “WWE denied my credentials and blocked my access. Neither I nor ESPN has been told why. You can speculate on the reasons, but if you want answers, ask WWE. Let me know what they tell you.”

ESPN’s relationship with WWE has not always been plain sailing, with the deal becoming subject to a Class Action lawsuit for deceptive marketing practices in January. ESPN was also reportedly forced to drop its letter grading system in reviews of the shows at the behest of WWE.
