Nikki Bella Says She’s Wrestling On WWE WrestleMania Amidst Reports She’s Not Cleared

A report ahead of WrestleMania 42 indicated on Friday that Nikki Bella would not be part of the Women’s Tag Team Championship match due to an ankle injury she suffered on “WWE SmackDown” on March 27, but the former Divas Champion herself seems to have confirmed she’s good to go. On an episode of “The Nikki & Brie Show” ahead of the “Showcase of the Immortals,” Nikki spoke with her sister as though they’re set for the four-way match.

“WrestleMania, we are back in action,” Nikki began. “Eleven years later, Brie. Over a decade, to remind everyone.”

Brie said that it was nice to hear from so many fans who were excited to see them back at it. She said she even heard Charlotte Flair, a competitor in the match alongside Alexa Bliss, say that she liked the setup of the match, as it includes stars from the past, present, and future. The Bellas and Flair and Bliss will take on Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, as well as reigning champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend.

“I’m just so excited to be part of it,” Nikki said. “Back in our day, it was rare you would get a WrestleMania moment. This is our second WrestleMania moment as far as walking in together as a tag team.”

On Friday, PWInsider reported that Nikki was not cleared for the match. The outlet reported that WWE had lined up a replacement for her in a returning Paige. BodySlam+ confirmed Paige had signed a multi-year deal with WWE that would see her back in the ring.

Update On Ex-WWE Star Alberto Del Rio’s Wrestling Future Following Latest Arrest

Alberto Del Rio/El Patron will be returning to the ring soon after his arrest and charging of domestic violence in recent weeks.

Del Rio, real name Rodriguez, was arrested on April 6 after San Luis Potosí State Civil Guard officers answered a report of domestic violence.

They arrived at the scene and caught Rodriguez in the act of verbally and physically attacking his wife, and found his wife to have physical injury to her arms and face. Thus, he was arrested and charged by the State Attorney General’s Office, held in La Pila prison until April 12 as he reached a financial settlement for his freedom.

In light of his arrest several promotions including The Crash Lucha Libre announced he would be suspended and removed from their shows. But he has already secured bookings for his return since being released, with Producciones Hernandez posting a video from Rodriguez – his first appearance publicly since being arrested – to confirm his appearance on a Monterrey show on May 1.

“We have a date in Monterrey with great stars of national and international wrestling, especially the presence of the greatest of all time,” he said (via “Milenio”)

Rodriguez’ own promotion, LM52, has also reportedly announced it will reveal details about its reactivation on Tuesday. It’s possible his arrest and legal situation will be addressed. LM52’s first show was announced for May 7 at the Foro Interlomas, with tickets still available for purchase.

Paige Reportedly Signs With WWE, Set for Return Match at WrestleMania 42

Paige Reportedly Signs With WWE, Set for Return Match at WrestleMania 42

Paige has reportedly re-signed with WWE and is expected to return to the ring at WrestleMania 42 this weekend, marking a major comeback after years away from in-ring competition.

According to PWInsider, Paige is slated to compete in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Fatal Four-Way match on WrestleMania 42 Saturday. She is expected to replace Nikki Bella, who has not been cleared following an ankle injury sustained several weeks ago on SmackDown. The report adds that WWE quietly brought Paige to Las Vegas, where she has already taken part in a run-through for the match.

The potential return is notable given that Paige was ruled medically unable to compete in January 2018 at just 25 years old. That decision followed a December 2017 incident during a match involving Sasha Banks at the Nassau Coliseum. After taking a kick to the back, Paige lost feeling in her extremities and the match was immediately stopped. Due to her prior neck issues, WWE removed her from in-ring competition.

At the time, Paige had already dealt with multiple challenges, including neck surgery and time away from WWE. She had returned to television as part of the Absolution faction alongside Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, but her comeback was cut short by the injury.

Following her in-ring exit, Paige transitioned into a non-wrestling role as SmackDown General Manager. Her career was also highlighted in the film “Fighting with My Family,” produced by Dwayne Johnson and starring Florence Pugh as Paige.

After her WWE contract expired in June 2022, Paige signed with All Elite Wrestling and returned to the ring. She went on to win the AEW Women’s Championship from Hikaru Shida and remained active with the company until March 2025.

Now 33, Paige is reportedly set to compete again in WWE, seven years after being told her in-ring career was over. If confirmed, the return would mark one of the most significant comebacks in recent WWE history.

Triple H Addresses Pat McAfee Controversy Ahead of WrestleMania 42

Triple H Addresses Pat McAfee Controversy Ahead of WrestleMania 42

Paul Triple H Levesque has addressed the ongoing discussion surrounding Pat McAfee ahead of WrestleMania 42, indicating that McAfee’s actions could eventually lead to consequences.

Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, Levesque was asked about McAfee’s involvement in the storyline featuring Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes. While acknowledging McAfee’s outspoken role, he suggested that it may not go unanswered.

“There’s something on the horizon for this for sure. When you run your mouth as much as Pat does, eventually somebody’s gonna try to shut it but, really, as a WWE fan, what I’m really looking forward to is that moment, mentor, student, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, locking up over that WWE Championship. It’s just a moment that transcends a couple of generations to me and that’s what’s really cool about it,” Levesque said.

The comments come as McAfee’s involvement has generated strong reactions from both fans and talent in recent days, with multiple WWE stars publicly voicing their opinions on the situation.

Levesque was also asked about the level of criticism surrounding WWE’s creative direction heading into its biggest event of the year. He acknowledged the pressure but framed the attention as a positive.

“It’s always pressure but the thing is talk is good. People are talking and that is a good thing. Pat, love him or hate him, Pat makes people talk, and I think that’s what’s important here is people are talking. This is gonna be an amazing show. This will be incredible and it will deliver on all levels,” Levesque said.

His remarks suggest that while the response to McAfee has been mixed, WWE views the discussion as part of the overall build to WrestleMania. At the same time, the focus remains on the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Rhodes and Orton, which is set to headline WrestleMania 42 Saturday.
