Willow Nightingale Sneaks Past CMLL Women’s Champion To Retain AEW TBS Title

Willow Nightingale made the long trip back from London, England to compete on the March 11 episode of “AEW Dynamite,” where she put her AEW TBS Championship on the line against Persephone. Nightingale might have made a defense of her crown against Nina Samuels at EVE’s Wrestle Queendom 8 over the weekend, but Persephone had a big weekend of her own as she dethroned Mercedes Mone to become the CMLL World Women’s Champion on March 6. However, it was Nightingale who managed to walk out of San Jose, California with the TBS Championship around her waist, and she even made a challenge for some more title matches after all was said and done.

A back-and-forth opening saw both women feeling each other out, not wanting to give up any opportunities to their opponent. However, it was Persephone’s strength that caught Nightingale off guard multiple times through out the match, even being able to deadlift the champion off the ground to slam her down. Persephone didn’t just have strength in her locker, she had some high-flying to compliment it as she came close to getting the win with a Springboard Moonsault in the center of the ring. With that said, Nightingale also wanted to prove that she was comfortable taking to the sky as she was able to hit a running Cannonball off the apron.

Nightingale did go to the well one time too often as she missed a big Moonsault off the top rope, with the challenger taking her to the other corner to try and deliver a Sunset Flip Powerbomb. Persephone looked to have the match in the bag in the dying moments when she had Nightingale in position for a Crucifix Bomb, but Nightingale was able to wriggle her way out of it and into a Backslide position, where she slid the challenger down and pinned Persephone’s shoulders down for the win. Persephone was left stunned as Nightingale had her hand raised in victory.

After the match, Nightingale cut a promo backstage with Harley Cameron where she was fired up after an action-packed week, and she wants to up the stakes with Revolution coming this Sunday. Nightingale not only wants to defend the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships against Megan Bayne and Lena Kross at Revolution, but she also wants to defend the TBS Championship against Kross on the Zero Hour pre-show before the pay-per-view officially kicks off. Both matches were later made official by AEW President Tony Khan.

Kyle Fletcher Retains AEW TNT Title With Help From The Rainmaker

Kyle Fletcher is still TNT Champion after a hard-hitting, fast-paced match against “Speedball” Mike Bailey on “AEW Dynamite” that almost went the full 20-minutes until Kazuchika Okada helped his Don Callis Family stablemate. and fellow AEW World Trios Champion, get the victory.

Fletcher went to town on Bailey to start off the match, knocking him out of the ring early on. Bailey battled back with plenty of hard kicks and almost put the champion away with a standing moonsault. Fletcher looked like he was going to law dart “Speedball” into the ring post, but Bailey countered and hit a poisonrana to Fletcher on the apron. The men continued to battle both in and out of the ring as time ticked away on the match.

Bailey continued to counter everything Fletcher threw at him and hit a corkscrew moonsault to the champion after dodging a baseball slide. Back in the ring, Fletcher threw Bailey face-first into the corner, but Bailey rallied and locked in a sleeper hold, then an arm bar on the champion. With five minutes remaining, Bailey looked to have the match won numerous times after rocking Fletcher with various kicks and another poisonrana. Fletcher hit a Michinoku Driver, but Bailey survived.

With just three minutes remaining, Fletcher dodged the Ultima Weapon and the competitors traded pin attempts before Okada jumped on the apron to distract the referee. Fletcher raked Bailey’s eyes, then smashed him over the head with the TNT Championship that was slid in the ring to him, and hit the Brainbuster for the victory.

Chelsea Green Recalls Nearly Playing A ‘Grunge’ Character In WWE

“I’m like hold on, okay, this is not what we had spoken about, but wait, this is something I can do. So I spoke to them and I asked, ‘Hey, can I just be in there for a record time?’ And they’re like, ‘Okay, yeah, run in and Rhea will toss you out.’ I looked at Rhea, and I said, ‘If you don’t get me out in a record time, I’m going to be so upset with you.’ So it was kind of like our funny thing,” Green said.

“When I went in, we looked at each other like let’s go, and she tossed me out. Then I played up the Karen character and that snowballed into what it is now. I’m telling you that is how I am who I am now.”

According to Green, her WWE comeback didn’t seem to be at the forefront of plans for the Royal Rumble, especially with the likes of Nia Jax and Cody Rhodes also making returns that January night. Nevertheless, Green considers it a benefit as it personally allowed her to secure a record for the shortest stint in the Women’s Royal Rumble match while laying the groundwork for a character highly-praised for its entertainment value.

Fast forward to 2026, Green said much of her on-screen work is of her own doing, with some outline guidance from WWE’s writing team. As an example, Green noted that WWE relays the basic vibe they want her to convey, which she then incorporates into her self-written promos for television. Green confirmed that other elements, such as her digital newspaper known as the “Chelsea Chronicle,”  are also thanks to WWE putting trust in her.

Jake Paul Invites Jon Jones To Fight Under MVP

Jake Paul became the latest to weigh in on Jon Jones’ fall-out with UFC and Dana White, inviting him to come over to Most Valuable Promotions and get paid what he deserves.

Jones said he was “lowballed” in negotiations to return to UFC, having retired last year and vacated the Heavyweight Championship, with him also saying he was in talks to return at the White House event. White said that was untrue and reiterated that he was done in the UFC, and that prompted Jones to ask for his reelase from the promotion.

Another fighter to have left UFC after a pay dispute whilst Heavyweight Champion, Francis Ngannou, is due to return to the cage for a fight against Philipe Lins on the Ronda Rousey-Gina Carano card promoted by MVP, its first MMA event scheduled for May. And if Paul was to have his way, Jones would also be fighting for him.

“Jon, you’re always welcome to come over to MVP. We’ll get it popping and we’ll get you paid what you deserve,” Paul said ahead of the press conference.

Ngannou had also extended an olive branch should Jones leave UFC, affirming his belief that Jones should be paid better after his contributions to the sport. He had left UFC before a fight with Jones materialized, with Jones moving up from Light Heavyweight and winning the title later.

UFC 327 Loses Main Card Match Due To Injury

Manuel Torres’ scheduled UFC 327 opponent, Beneil Dariush, has said that the fight is off after Torres sustained an injury.

“I just found out yesterday or Sunday that he pulled out. He’s injured. So I guess that fight is not happening anymore,” he told the “OverDogs Podcast,” “To be honest with you, originally they said I was supposed to fight Manuel in February, and then they said March 7, and then they said April 11.”

Dariush said that he assumed Torres was struggling with injury at the time of the first delay, and perhaps he had re-injured himself in trying to make the match. Though he could not be sure enough to say.

With a record of 16-3 in MMA and multiple Performance of the Night awards since winning his UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021, it may be a missed opportunity for Torres to climb the rankings against Dariush, having gone 1-3 in his last four.

UFC 327 is due to be headlined by Jiri Prochazka versus Carlos Ulberg for the vacant Light Heavyweight title on April 12. The title was vacated by Alex Pereira ahead of his move to heavyweight, which will see him take on Ciryl Gane for the Interim Heavyweight title at the White House event in June.
