AEW Revolution Backstage News Ahead of Tonight’s PPV

AEW presents its Revolution PPV tonight from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and several backstage news have emerged as the company prepares for the event.

AEW Revolution Backstage News

Internally, there is said to be considerable satisfaction with the business performance of this year’s Revolution. Ticket sales have surpassed 12,000, generating a gate of more than $1 million. That total makes this the second‑largest Revolution in company history, trailing only last year’s show headlined by Sting’s retirement match.

There is also growing internal belief that the Revolution brand may receive an even bigger spotlight moving forward, with expectations that next year’s edition could take on increased significance within AEW’s annual pay‑per‑view lineup.

Regarding roster‑related chatter, nothing new has surfaced about Kris Statlander’s contract status. Inquiries made this week reportedly turned up no updates on the situation.

Despite fan speculation, there has been no indication that Mercedes Moné will appear tonight. She dropped another championship over the weekend, which fueled online discussion about her next move, but nothing suggests she is scheduled for Revolution.

Tonight’s show also marks a key moment for the rollout of MyAEW internationally. There is internal interest in how the service performs during its first major live event, with the launch viewed as an important test for the platform.

Beyond Revolution, there has been internal discussion about talent who have been off AEW television potentially resurfacing in the coming months. No specific names have been confirmed, but the expectation is that some absences may soon come to an end.

Jay White once again stirred speculation by teasing a possible return ahead of an AEW pay‑per‑view, something he has done during previous PPV weekends. As of now, there is no confirmation that “Switchblade” will appear tonight.

Another name quietly making the rounds backstage is Tatevik Hunanyan. Although she only recently had her first AEW match since signing months ago, she has reportedly been backstage at events regularly as she continues to settle into the company.

Booker T on NXT Stand & Deliver Move Away From WrestleMania Weekend

Booker T on NXT Stand & Deliver Move Away From WrestleMania Weekend

This year’s WWE NXT Stand & Deliver will not be part of WrestleMania weekend for the first time in years, shifting instead to a standalone event on April 4 — two weeks before WrestleMania 42. As the brand prepares for the change, Booker T says he isn’t sure yet whether the move will ultimately help or hurt the show, but he believes it will definitely feel different for fans and talent.

Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker was asked whether separating NXT Stand & Deliver from WrestleMania festivities would be beneficial. He admitted he has mixed feelings.

“I don’t know, man,” Booker said. “I don’t mind being an add‑on because we know we ain’t going to have a problem selling tickets. We’re going to be around everything that’s going on. Actually, having the young guys still have a piece of that feeling of WrestleMania, I thought was very, very, very important. I really did. So yeah, it’s going to be different.”

Why Stand & Deliver Was Moved

Reports indicate that the decision to shift the show away from WrestleMania weekend was driven by several factors. In previous years, WWE’s production team was responsible for SmackDown, the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, and NXT Stand & Deliver — all within a 24‑hour window leading into WrestleMania night one. Moving Stand & Deliver gives the crew relief while also giving NXT a clearer spotlight and more room to succeed on its own.

NXT Stand & Deliver will take place at The Factory at The District in St. Louis, with NXT Champion Joe Hendry, NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, and NXT North American Champion Myles Borne all advertised for the event. The show will stream live on WWE YouTube channels.

WrestleMania 42 week will bring WWE back to Las Vegas, where multiple high‑profile matches are already confirmed. The two‑night event takes place April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium.

Chelsea Green Offers Update On Ankle Injury & WWE WrestleMania 42 Status

Despite her broken ankle, Chelsea Green is still active on television, utilizing her now-vulnerable state for comedic moments instead. However, the reality is that Green is still recovering from a legitimate injury, but could there still be hope for a WrestleMania angle?

In an interview on the “Beyond The Bell Podcast,” Green commented on her mental state and how rehab has been for her ankle.

“Everything is great. My ankle is very sore, but we’re making huge progress, which is great and necessary, especially entering, you know, WrestleMania season! I cannot be missing WrestleMania,” she assessed. Green noted that she’s currently in Los Angeles and has been expanding her resume while in the city, and beyond her injury, life isn’t just good, but she actually has no complaints.

During another interview earlier this month, Green talked about her injury and went deeper in depth about her injury. The former WWE Women’s United States Champion explained that her inner ankle bone is chipped and cracked, and while many people have been questioning the legitimacy of her injury – likely after the lengths Seth Rollins went to have a kayfabe injury last year – she’s still focused on recovering and making a solid comeback down the line. At the same time, Green didn’t hint at returning to action at WrestleMania 42 in either interview, and while her rehab is steadily progressing, she’ll likely appear at the event without actually competing.

WWE Champion Cody Rhodes Discusses ‘Lucky’ Streak Of WrestleMania Opponents

Cody Rhodes has main evented three WrestleMania’s back-to-back, with his first being his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship shot against Roman Reigns, followed by a Night 1 main event against Reigns and The Rock, a Night 2 main event against Reigns again, and last year’s clash against John Cena.

This year, Rhodes is set to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton, and while some believe it’s a booking bias, ‘The American Nightmare’ claims it’s simply luck.

“The idea that I got to wrestle John in his final WrestleMania and now I’m wrestling Randy in the same stadium?” Rhodes asked out an interview with Complex, noting that the window is closing on his former Legacy stablemate. “I’m really lucky, right? I’m very lucky because I don’t know how much longer Randy does it.”

The Undisputed WWE Champion went as far as to attach both Orton and Cena to himself, describing both men as the ‘angel and devil’ on his shoulders, constantly whispering to him throughout his career.

“One of the craziest things about Randy and my relationship was the dynamic shifted,” he added, claiming that he always admired Orton since his days in Evolution, but the dynamic changed when they were paired together, and he had to almost babysit ‘The Viper.’

“The area where he never was in trouble, and no issue at all was how great of a teacher about wrestling he was,” Rhodes explained, further describing Orton as a sensei he wanted to impress, and that now at WrestleMania 42, he gets to do that.

Jake Hager Reveals The Former AEW World Champion That He Most Wanted To Wrestle

Last year, Jake Hager revealed that he had officially hung up his pro wrestling boots after a near 20-year career. And looking back, Hager seems largely content with the wide range of competitors he faced. There is one man that he wishes he could have done more with, though.

“To be honest, no,” Hager told “TMZ’s Inside The Ring” when asked if there were opponents he was still craving to wrestle prior to his 2017 WWE departure. “I never thought about wrestling like that, wanting to wrestle certain people. It was always what my job is and what’s best for the company, bullcrap answer like that. I will say that in AEW I really wanted to wrestle Hangman Page in a storyline just because of the Stadium Stampede scene that we did.

“You won’t believe me, but we shot that in one take,” he continued. “Like we paused, and then stopped and started filming again, but he is so unbelievably athletic. It was impressive. I got to be like so aggressive because of that. So I always thought down the road that we were going to lead to that and it was going to be great, but never got to it.”

The Stadium Stampede in reference took place at AEW Double or Nothing in May 2020, pitting Matt Hardy and The Elite (Hangman Page, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) against The Inner Circle’s Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Ortiz, Sammy Guevara and Santana. Hager’s team lost the bout after Omega sent Guevara crashing through a platform with a One-Winged Angel.

Hager left AEW in 2024 following the expiration of his contract. Meanwhile, Page remains a regular fixture in the company, with an AEW World Championship match – attached with a Texas Death stipulation – against MJF awaiting him at tonight’s Revolution pay-per-view event.
