AEW’s Billy Gunn Talks Continued Relationship With Ex-WWE Writer Road Dogg

AEW’s Billy Gunn has named his former tag team partner, Road Dogg, as his favorite wrestler of all time.

The duo, who went by the tag team name The New Age Outlaws and were part of D-Generation X, played an important role during the Attitude Era, when their popularity skyrocketed. Gunn recently explained in an interview with “Monopoly Events” that their close personal relationship is why Road Dogg is his favorite of all time.

“So, this pains me more than I [can imagine] [my favorite] it has to be Road Dogg. He is my favorite. He is my favorite of all time because he was part of one of the best times in wrestling and he is my true partner because I talk to him all the time and it’s just to say, ‘hello’ and that you can’t beat,” said Gunn.

The veteran star also named Road Dogg as his favorite member of the D-Generation X faction, a group which also included Triple H, Chyna, Shawn Michaels, and X-Pac. Gunn has previously credited Road Dogg, aka Brian James, for helping him become a popular star in WWE, saying that James motivated him to become better and helped him believe in himself.

The tag team had a short time together in WWE, teaming together between 1997 and 2000, before they reunited in TNA a few years down the line. They featured together in the 2010s, eventually leading them to return to WWE, where they had yet another run before they wrestled their final match together in 2015, after which Road Dogg retired from in-ring action. While Road Dogg transitioned to a backstage role, which he recently quit, Billy Gunn continues to wrestle well into his 60s and features sporadically on AEW as well as the indies.

Tony Khan Comments On Ronda Rousey’s AEW Appearance At Revolution 2026

There were many surprises at AEW Revolution, but the one that likely shocked fans the most was the appearance of Ronda Rousey. The former UFC and WWE star went face to face with “Timeless” Toni Storm following Storm’s victory over Rousey’s friend Marina Shafir, prompting security and officials to separate the two before Shafir snuck in a cheap shot on Storm. Rousey and Shafir then disappeared into the crowd, but not before interacting with Shafir’s Death Riders stablemate Jon Moxley just prior to his match with Konosuke Takeshita.

Rousey was on everyone’s mind when AEW owner Tony Khan began taking questions at the post-Revolution media scrum. And when asked what Rousey’s status was with AEW, Khan explained that she was there for one simple reason.

“Well Ronda is a really good friend of Marina Shafir,” Khan said. “And Marina brought her in as backup.”

Khan quickly noted that this wasn’t the first time Rousey had worked for him, having previously teamed with Shafir to take on Athena and Billie Starkz during a November 2023 Ring of Honor taping. The AEW owner was complimentary of that match and Rousey, and while he never confirmed Rousey’s status with AEW, he strongly hinted this wasn’t a one off appearance.

“Ronda Rousey is a huge star,” Khan said. “We have a great relationship with her, she’s wrestled for me before in ROH. And she’s always welcome here in AEW anytime.”

When asked whether Rousey’s appearance meant there’d be an AEW presence at Rousey’s upcoming MMA fight with Gina Carano on May 16, Khan confirmed that was all but guaranteed.

“I think that would be great,” Khan said. “Ronda’s always welcome here, and anybody from AEW who wants to attend that fight is welcome to do so. And Ronda may invite some people. Ronda invited me to the fight tonight. So I guess so. Yeah, it sounds like we’re going to be there.”

Booker T Reveals Which WWE NXT Star Has ‘Finally’ Won Him Over

Booker T has been up close and personal towards WWE’s young stars in “WWE NXT,” and one promising wrestler, Tatum Paxley, has won him over following her recent performance.

The WWE Hall of Famer analyzed Paxley’s recent match with Izzi Dame at NXT Vengeance Day, and lauded them for the show they put on. He praised both stars involved in the match on the “Hall of Fame” show, but singled out Paxley and admitted that he has finally understood what Paxley’s character is all about.

“They [Dame and Paxley] went out there and they rocked it, man. They had a hell of a match, man,” he said. “Tatum Paxley, man, she’s found herself. She’s found herself in this character. Trust me, I didn’t know if this character had any sustainability. I didn’t think it was something that you could actually put on the main roster and actually people buy it. But it goes back to the old adage to what I say all the time about professional wrestling, and that is, man, you can do whatever you want to do before the match. You can act any kind of way you want to act after the match, but in the match, you go out there and perform and you perform at the highest level. All of that goes away.”

He pointed out to one move that Paxley did in the match that, in a way, sold him on her gimmick, and even gave him goosebumps.

“And when she did the one move to where she turned the move in the offense and did the Undertaker almost sit up but standing up, bro, I said, ‘Okay, now she finally got me.’ I got goosebumps talking about it — I finally bought in to what Tatum Paxley actually has been trying to do for so long,” stated Booker T.

Paxley won the NXT Women’s North American Championship at Vengeance Day, beginning her first reign with the title.

WWE’s CJ Perry, Fka Lana, Comments On Danhausen Debut At Elimination Chamber

CJ Perry, aka Lana, is excited about Danhausen in WWE, and is eager to see how WWE CCO Triple H does comedy in pro wrestling.

Danhausen’s debut drew a polarizing reaction both in the arena and on social media, but one person who was very positive about him is Perry, who wants to see WWE cater more to the entertainment side of pro wrestling.

“It [Danhausen’s debut] made me really excited again about WWE because lately we’ve been doing all — well not just lately but in the Triple H era, as well as just in the ESPN era, we really have to push a lot of sports more than anything, right? And that’s very understandable. It’s professional wrestling, it’s on ESPN right now, you know, it has to be very, very sports driven and I feel like in the old regime, we had a lot more comedy acts. We had a lot more comedy acts and dance acts and you know, I’ve kind of been missing the entertainment. I’ve been kind of missing someone going through a cake possibly,” she said on “TMZ Sports.” “I personally love the entertainment part. I love the soap opera stories. I love the comedy acts. I love the cakes. I love the flags and the medals.”

While she loves the hard-hitting matches, she enjoys the entertainment aspect of WWE, which she reasoned is the reason why she fell in love with pro wrestling. She is curious to see how Danhausen fares in the promotion, and urged the fans to be patient with him.

“It will be really interesting to see how Danhausen does in this Triple H era because it used to be that Vince McMahon, it was a one-man show, right? And in this one-man show, Vince really drove all the  comedy. He drove the comedy and the entertainment acts. And so now we’re going to see what Triple H’s comedy era looks like. And that’s really exciting.”

So far, Danhausen has featured in backstage skits on both “WWE Raw” and “WWE SmackDown,” and has yet to wrestle.

Matt Hardy Explains Why He’d Rather Enter WWE Hall Of Fame In Vegas Than Saudi Arabia

WWE legend Matt Hardy wants the Hardy Boyz to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year rather than next year, when it goes to the Middle East.

WrestleMania season always brings rumors and speculation about WWE Hall of Fame picks. With just three inductees announced for this year’s Hall of Fame — Stephanie McMahon, AJ Styles, and tag team veterans Demolition — there is speculation about who else could make the list. One legendary group whose Hall of Fame induction has long been overdue is the Hardy Boyz. Matt Hardy recently discussed the possibility of entering the Hall of Fame on “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” and said he would prefer for it to happen this year, when WrestleMania is in Las Vegas, rather than next year, when it moves to Saudi Arabia.

“I am very happy for AJ [Styles] and apparently he has, you know, re-signed a deal with WWE. It seems like he’s going to be sticking around. So, very happy for him. And you know what, man? The more I thought about it after you said that, you might be right. I could see John Cena going in there. I saw someone put up a graphic said this is my guest for the Hall of Fame and had me and Jeff in it. And who knows, anything’s possible when it’s all said and done. I’ll be honest, I would rather be going in Vegas than in Saudi Arabia. It is what it is [laughs] … because more of my friends and family can be there,” he said.

WWE will move WrestleMania to Saudi Arabia in 2027, but there’s no indication yet on what will happen to the Hall of Fame, which takes place over WrestleMania weekend. Hardy feels that WWE should promote this year’s Hall of Fame in Las Vegas as the biggest in history, to drive more people to the show and the city.

The 2026 WWE Hall of Fame will be held on April 17, 2026, a day before WrestleMania kicks off at Allegiant Stadium.
