AEW Dynamite & Collision Holiday Bash Results 12/17 – Three Continental Classic Matches And More

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.’s live coverage for “AEW Dynamite” and “AEW Collision” Holiday Bash on December 17, 2025, coming to you from the Co-Op Live in Manchester, England!

Three matches in the 2025 Continental Classic are set to be held tonight, as The Death Riders leader Jon Moxley goes one-on-one with Roderick Strong and Orange Cassidy squares off with Mascara Dorada in a pair of Blue League Matches while Kyle Fletcher of The Don Callis Family collides with another member of The Death Riders PAC in a Gold League Match. Konosuke Takeshita and Claudio Castagnoli currently lead the Blue League with 7 points each, while Moxley, Cassidy, and Dorada hold 3 points apiece and Strong has yet to earn any points. Over in the Gold League, reigning Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, and Fletcher hold 6 points apiece to take the lead, PAC and Kevin Knight each have 3 points, and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry has no points.

Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood of FTR will be putting the AEW World Tag Team Championship on the line for the first time since dethroning Brody King and Bandido at Full Gear as they defend against Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn. Robinson and Austin called their shot on the November 27 episode of “Collision”, confronting FTR and their manager Stokely as they gloated about their then-newly won AEW World Tag Team Championship.

Although Babes of Wrath’s Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron emerged victorious against Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa of Timeless Love Bombs to become the first ever AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions, all four women will have to work together tonight as they go head-to-head with TBS Champion Mercedes Mone, Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion Athena, Marina Shafir of The Death Riders, and Megan Bayne. Nightingale, Cameron, Storm, and Shirakawa found themselves face-to-face with Mone during last Wednesday’s “Dynamite” Winter Is Coming special in a verbal confrontation that resulted in Mone throwing out the challenge to tonight’s match.

Shortly after The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander of The Don Callis Family defeated Kenny Omega and Jurassic Express to win $1,000,000 at AEW Full Gear on November 22, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson ultimately decided not to become official members of The Don Callis Family when they saw the Don Callis led stable launch an attack on their longtime friend/sometimes enemy Omega. Since then, The Don Callis Family has withheld the $1,000,000 from The Young Bucks, but tonight, Matt and Nick have the chance to win the money back when they reunite with Omega to take on the aforementioned Okada, Takeshita, and Hechicero in a $1,000,000 Trios Winners Take All Match.

Additionally, titleholder Samoa Joe, “Hangman” Adam Page, and Swerve Strickland will be putting pen-to-paper on the contract for their AEW World Championship match at AEW Worlds End on December 27.

We are live! Excalibur and Tony Schiavone greet audiences at home as Jon Moxley and Roderick Strong are already waiting in the ring.

AEW’s Jeff Jarrett Comments On Vince McMahon’s Absence From WWE SNME, Last Cena Match

After weeks of speculation that he would be in attendance, former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon wasn’t in Washington, DC after all for John Cena’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. But his presence was still felt, as a final video package for Cena featured McMahon, and fans even chanted for him, albeit as part of several negative chants directed at WWE chief content officer Triple H following the show.

Having expected McMahon to be at the event, and already displeased with WWE’s decision to have Cena go out by tapping out to GUNTHER, it would stand to reason that AEW’s Jeff Jarrett would also have a strong opinion about McMahon not being in attendance. But that really wasn’t the focus Jarrett had on the latest edition of “My World,” as he instead pointed out how McMahon’s appearance in Cena’s tribute video was the only time he felt Cena genuinely smiled. This prompted Conrad Thompson to ask Jarrett if he was surprised by Vince appearing in the video.

“I’m disappointed that there wasn’t more, but I get it, politically,” Jarrett said. “I get it. But…maybe a little bit [I was surprised].”

McMahon hasn’t appeared in WWE since he resigned from the promotion in January 2024 after Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against him, alleging sex trafficking and abuse, and until his appearance in the Cena video had largely gone unmentioned within the promotion. Despite that, some felt that McMahon would be included in the show due to his longstanding friendship with Cena, and WWE bringing back Brock Lesnar earlier in 2025, despite him being named in the Grant lawsuit as well.

Bully Ray Would’ve Changed One Thing About John Cena’s WWE Retirement

He also explained that he believes fans in the arena were so angry, because they had their moment taken away from them. He said the fans in attendance were having a moment with Cena, and they all had just been through a “bad experience together,” and then Levesque and the talent came out.

“They might have expected [the match result], but now it’s hitting them in the face,” he said. “They’re dealing with the reality of it. And those 20,000 people wanted to will John back to his feet. They started to chant ‘bulls***.’ They were going to get past it, and now you were gonna get the hero’s send off. You were going to get ‘Thank you, Cena.’ You should have gotten the speech, but it got interrupted. ‘My intimate moment got interrupted.’ That’s what really p***** those people off.”

Bully Ray said that despite everyone likely having the best intentions, including Cody Rhodes and CM Punk who laid their championships on the shoulders of Cena, the moment should have been left alone. He noted that we live in a society where when something happens, the blame always needs to fall on someone, and the first person to be out of the curtain was Triple H.

“I’m trying to put myself in the shoes of the fan in attendance at that moment,” he said. “I wanted to be one of the people that cheered John on, but I couldn’t do that because I was distracted from it.”

Blake Monroe Blasts NXT Over Title Loss

Blake Monroe Blasts NXT Over Title Loss

Blake Monroe Blasts NXT Over Title Loss – Blake Monroe is not letting her accidental NXT Women’s North American Championship loss fade quietly, and her latest reaction made that clear. One day after losing the title to Thea Hail in what has since been confirmed as an unplanned finish, Monroe took to social media on December 17 with a pointed message aimed directly at WWE NXT.

Responding to NXT’s official header image on X, which showed Monroe seated on the mat as Hail celebrated with the championship, Monroe wrote,

“change your fck ass header @WWENXT”*

The image captured the moment immediately following the referee’s three-count, a finish that multiple reports have stated was never intended to happen. Monroe’s frustration appears tied not only to the loss itself, but also to WWE continuing to spotlight a moment that resulted from a mistake rather than a planned storyline beat.

As previously reported, the original plan for the December 16 episode of NXT was for Monroe to retain the championship. During the closing moments of the match, however, Hail came off the ropes and knocked the wind out of Monroe. When Hail went for the pin, Monroe attempted to raise her shoulder but was unable to do so in time. With WWE referees instructed to treat all pinfalls as legitimate, the official counted to three, resulting in an unexpected title change.

Backstage sources have suggested that Hail, still relatively early in her career, may not have realized she needed to allow Monroe a brief moment to recover before attempting the cover. The confusion was evident immediately after the bell, as Monroe’s entrance music initially played before being abruptly cut off and replaced with Hail’s theme once officials realized what had happened.

WWE later leaned into the situation by acknowledging Monroe’s late shoulder movement as part of the narrative. Still, the damage had already been done. The accidental title change reportedly caused significant disruption backstage, forcing WWE to adjust creative plans and rewrite upcoming segments that had already been taped with Monroe positioned as champion.

Monroe had previously hinted at her anger with a cryptic post referencing being “screwed,” but her latest message leaves little doubt about how she feels, particularly with WWE continuing to promote the unintended finish. With NXT preparing to tape additional episodes soon, it remains unclear whether WWE will move quickly to reverse the title change or extend the situation into a longer storyline. For now, Thea Hail remains champion, but Monroe’s reaction suggests the issue is far from settled.

Backstage Talk of a WWE Policy Shift Following Botched NXT Ending

Backstage Talk of a WWE Policy Shift Following Botched NXT Ending

Backstage Talk of a WWE Policy Shift Following Botched NXT Ending – The unplanned championship switch on NXT reportedly created major confusion behind the scenes, forcing WWE’s creative team to make last-minute changes to already taped programming. The situation unfolded on the December 16 episode of NXT, when Thea Hail defeated Blake Monroe to win the NXT Women’s North American Championship. According to multiple reports, that result was never meant to happen.

Fightful Select reports that the title change occurred at what was described internally as the worst possible time. NXT had just finished taping several weeks of television so talent could head home for the holidays. Those episodes were reportedly produced with Monroe still planned as champion, leaving creative in a frantic rush to rework segments, edit footage, and adjust storylines to reflect Hail as the new titleholder.

The confusion was noticeable almost immediately. WWE’s official website briefly listed Monroe as the winner of the match, even though Hail was clearly shown celebrating with the championship on television. Internally, there is belief that Monroe may have had the wind knocked out of her and was unable to kick out in time, leading the referee to count the pinfall unexpectedly.

Rather than reversing course, WWE chose to move forward with the outcome. A post-match confrontation between Hail and Monroe was reportedly added on short notice to help establish the new title reign. Graphics, promotional material, and social media posts were quickly created to present the championship change as intentional and official.

One higher-up within NXT told Fightful that the situation is expected to lead to heavy shifts in policy. Going forward, talent involved in tapings may be required to remain on site until all production is completed, even if their scheduled segments have already finished. The goal would be to ensure availability in case reshoots or sudden changes are needed.

A rematch between Hail and Monroe is already being discussed internally, with expectations that it could take place at NXT New Year’s Evil on January 6, 2026, though nothing has been formally announced.

While rare, unplanned title changes are not unheard of in WWE history. Wrestlers such as Razor Ramon, Mickie James, and Kevin Owens have all won championships under similar circumstances when matches did not go according to plan.
