AJ Lee To Defend WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title Vs. Becky Lynch At WrestleMania 42

AJ Lee will defend her Women’s Intercontinental Championship in a rematch against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42, following their latest confrontation during “WWE Raw.”

Lee returned to the company for the first time in over a decade last year alongside her husband, CM Punk, to feud with Lynch and her husband, Seth Rollins. She completed her return to the ring with a win alongside Punk against Lynch and Rollins at Wrestlepalooza in September.

Lee further secured victory with her team over Lynch and hers in Women’s WarGames at Survivor Series, and the feud continued into the new year. Lee beat Lynch in their first singles match at Elimination Chamber in February, capturing the Intercontinental Championship.

Lynch attacked Lee after her defense of the title during last week’s “Raw,” beating Bayley, and that led into Monday night’s show with her emerging to run down her rival and the fans. Sure enough, Lynch was interrupted by the emerging Lee and had to retreat, and Lee then went on to make the challenge for them to have a rematch at WrestleMania.

Lynch laughed and said that the champion had fallen into her trap, and this is what she always wanted. But Lee was unwavered by that and promised to beat her once more.

Former TNA World Champ Reflects On Wrestling WWE’s Oba Femi At Madison Square Garden

Since the partnership between “WWE NXT” and TNA commenced, dream matches have been curated on both sides. One of those breakthrough showcases featured the former NXT Champion Oba Femi defending his championship against TNA’s top powerhouse, Moose, at “NXT” Roadblock last March in Madison Square Garden. The former two-time TNA/Impact World Champion reflected on that bold moment from a year ago, and how he has the utmost respect for “The Ruler.”

“I told myself if I was ever going to do anything in ‘WWE NXT,’ he was definitely my first pick because we’re so much alike,” “The Face of the Franchise” told R3 Jonah on “Rewind Recap Relive.” “We come from the same country. He’s Nigerian. I’m Nigerian…We have a lot in common. He’s a great individual, a great wrestler, very athletic, and people could say the same about me. So, it was a match made in heaven.”

Most wrestlers are happy to be asked to sign to any commercialized promotion at some point in their hardworking careers. For Moose, there was no question of wanting to join WWE. Despite the AEW’s and NJPW’s of the world, Moose is under the impression that most wrestlers like him want a shot at becoming the next Superstar in WWE.

“Let’s be honest, everybody that gets, goes, or makes a decision that they want to be a professional wrestler always say, ‘I want to wrestle for WWE,” he believes. “Doing something that I told myself I was going to do when I was six-years-old, which was wrestle in WWE. And I’m happy that TNA and Carlos [Silva] gave me the opportunity to make that moment happen.”

After the heinous firing from The System, a group Moose helped build from the ground up, “The Wrestling God” is on his way to Sacrifice this Friday to take the last head off the four-headed snake, Eddie Edwards. Moose has already vanquished two out of his four former cohorts (Brian Myers and Cedric Alexander). On Thursday’s “TNA iMPACT,” he’ll face Bear Bronson, the newest recruit after Moose’s departure. As for Femi, he just exceeded Herculean strength after annihilating and humiliating “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar on the March 16 episode of “WWE Raw.” These two behemoths will officially meet in the ring at WrestleMania 42 next month.

Jeff Jarrett Calls Newly-Signed AEW Star ‘The LeBron James Of Lucha Libre’

Mistico is one of the biggest draws in lucha libre and CMLL, and it was revealed the 28-year in-ring veteran officially became “All Elite” after he won the AEW World Trios Championships alongside “Speedball” Mikey Bailey and Kevin Knight at Revolution. One of the most recognizable names all across Mexico, Mistico had worked in AEW a few times prior to his signing. Fellow AEW star Jeff Jarrett said on an episode of his “My World” podcast that he’d compare the lucha megastar to an iconic NBA star.

“Mistico is of [cultural] significance in multiple ways, but just think of him as the LeBron James of lucha libre,” Jarrett said. “I mean, you go back to Mil Mascaras or El Santo, also want to put our man Konnan there… Mistico, with the athleticism that goes in today’s professional wrestling, he did this 20 years ago and his character is, man. His theme song, his entrance song, is different… It’s a ballad almost, if you will. He’s a unique character, at the tip top.”

Jarrett commended the partnership between AEW and CMLL. In recent months, stars on both sides, such as Persephone, Claudio Castagnoli, Hechicero, and Mascara Dorada, have signed dual contracts. Jarrett said he believes Mistico and AEW’s relationship will be a healthy one.

“CMLL is not really seen out of Mexico, broadly, so to speak, so, he’s getting on a platform at this stage of his career to be seen on ITV,” he said. “To be seen on HBO Max. To be seen all over the world… I’m happy for the guy, personally, on several levels, because at the end of the day, it’s all about feeding your family.”
