Ronda Rousey surprise appearance at AEW Revolution may be connected to ongoing frustration with TKO Group Holdings over a compensation issue, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Meltzer reported that a source close to the situation indicated Rousey’s AEW angle is partially tied to a dispute involving her planned fight with Gina Carano. Negotiations for the Carano fight under the UFC banner went on for over a year but ultimately fell through. When the deal collapsed, TKO allegedly revised the compensation terms, leaving Ronda Rousey with limited options. The fight is now scheduled to take place under Jake Paul’s MVP promotion on Netflix rather than through the UFC.

Regarding speculation about a potential match between Rousey and Toni Storm, Meltzer clarified that no plans are currently in place. “Rousey, who is not shy about promoting her projects, to the best of my knowledge, did not push AEW after the angle,” he wrote. “The angle would lead you to believe there would be a Rousey vs. Storm match, which would get some attention, although we’ve heard nothing at all indicating it is happening.”

The response from WWE to Rousey’s AEW appearance was reportedly negative, and TKO may also view the situation unfavorably given her presence on a competing platform. Meltzer emphasized, however, that the overall impact on the wrestling industry is limited. “This is more an annoyance than any kind of game changer for wrestling,” he noted. Rousey has not publicly praised AEW nor criticized WWE in relation to the angle.

Storm’s extended absence adds further uncertainty to any follow-up program. She was pulled from AEW Dynamite the week after Revolution due to a legitimate injury and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period, with no confirmed return timeline.

Mercedes Mone Teases Imminent AEW Return After European Tour

Mercedes Mone has indicated that her return to AEW is approaching, confirming that she plans to come back once her current international tour comes to an end.

Speaking during an appearance on IL61, Mone addressed her status and made it clear that her absence from AEW programming is nearly over.

“I’m returning really, really soon,” Mone said. “Right now, I am on my Mone Madness Tour all over Europe. First it started in Mexico, now here in Italy, next stop is Paris, then London, then Poland, then Winnipeg. After that, Mama is gonna return home.”

Her comments provide a strong indication of when fans could expect her return. Mone is scheduled to defend the WPW Women’s Championship at WPW Fight at the Museum in Winnipeg on March 31. AEW Dynamite is set to take place in Winnipeg the following night on April 1, making that episode a logical target for her comeback.

Mone has been away from AEW television since dropping the TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale at AEW Dynamite New Year’s Smash. She later appeared in a vignette on the January 10 episode of Collision, where she warned that her return would have major consequences.

Since then, Mone has stayed active outside AEW, competing across multiple countries as part of her “Mone Madness Tour.” Her run has included appearances in Mexico and throughout Europe, building momentum ahead of her anticipated return.

She currently holds multiple championships across different promotions, including the Discovery Wrestling Scottish Women’s Championship, the PTW Women’s Championship, the Bodyslam Women’s Championship, the WPW Women’s Championship, the APAC Women’s Championship, and the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Championship.

AEW has not officially confirmed a return date. However, based on Mone’s schedule and comments, her comeback appears imminent, with early April emerging as the most likely timeframe.

UFC Looks To ABC To Oversee White House Card, DC Commission Calls It Dangerous

UFC announced that it would be looking to the Association of Boxing Commissions for its upcoming Freedom 250 event at the White House, in a move that DC Combat Sports Commission Chairman Andrew Huff said sets a “dangerous precedent” for the industry.

The sanctioning dispute had somewhat clouded the upcoming card on June 14, with the possibility that the fights on the card wouldn’t be official. Though this announcement may not dissipate all issues.

Providing his statement on the UFC’s announcement, ABC President Timothy Shipman was quoted: “As the event is being held on federal property, there is no requirement for the UFC to select a state athletic commission to oversee the event.”

He continued, “UFC expresses its commitment to ensuring that this event is among the most thoroughly regulated in the history of the sport and has requested that the ABC serve as an independent third party to assist in assembling the most qualified judges, referees, and inspectors in the world. The UFC has further confirmed that it will abide by all applicable regulatory requirements in support of this event, including all required medical examinations, pre-bout and post-bout physicals, and athlete safety protocols. All bouts on this card are officially licensed and sanctioned contests.”

UFC’s Chief Business Officer, Hunter Campbell, and Marc Ratner, Senior Vice President of UFC’s Government and Regulatory Affairs, will collaborate with ABC on the details of he regulatory oversight for the event, per the announcement.

However, Huff told “SevereMMA” after the announcement that, “The ABC is not a sanctioning body and has no authority in the District of Columbia. While I am relieved to learn that an additional organization will maintain some sort of oversight of the UFC White House event, I am disappointed that the ABC, which represents Commissions across the United States, including in the District of Columbia, has chosen to ignore our Commission’s laws and authority. It sets a dangerous precedent for all commissions and the industry as a whole.”

President Donald Trump Promotes UFC White House Event, Republicans Clamor For Tickets

President Donald Trump is on the marketing train for UFC’s White House card, Freedom 250, on June 14, and there are plenty of Republicans chasing tickets for the historic event. Axios published a report that quoted Trump as saying the event was the “hottest ticket I’ve ever seen,” as donors, lobbyists, Congress members, and well-connected fans clamor for tickets.

The event will see 5,000 VIP seats on the White House South Lawn. Many of those tickets will go to military personnel, leaving just a couple thousand for the aforementioned well-connected. After getting inundated with requests, one source told Axios that they’re sick of being asked about the fight.

It’s further noted that “Republicans began flooding the White House with inquiries about VIP tickets almost immediately after the event was announced last summer;” “One senator asked to attend with their family;” “A GOP fundraiser close to the White House received dozens of direct messages on social media asking how they could get in;” and “Trump himself has been fielding ticket requests, a person familiar with the event prep said.”

Dana White announced last week that 85,000 tickets will be publicly available for an outdoor viewing experience on the Ellipse just south of the White House grounds. The event will stream on Paramount+ in the US per the usual.

Organizers are reportedly still determining how the VIP tickets on the South Lawn will be distributed, with a Trump aide quoted as saying, “It’s all very fluid.” Another familiar with planning is said to have warned that “some of those jockeying for seats are likely to come away disappointed.”
