Becky Lynch is still Women’s Intercontinental Champion after IYO SKY answered her open challenge on “WWE Raw,” but SKY’s attempts to win the title were thwarted by Asuka. Lynch came out to cut her victory promo after dethroning AJ Lee at WrestleMania 42 and said she was aware the fans wanted her to be a fighting champion, so she issued the challenge.

She didn’t want to face SKY after she came out, however, and it took “Raw” General Manager Adam Pearce to make the match official. Lynch was in control of the beginnings of the match and hit a leg drop off the second rope. SKY battled back with a missile dropkick followed by the bullet train attack, but Lynch kicked out. SKY dodged the Manhandle Slam, but Lynch intercepted SKY on the suicide dive.

SKY hit a sunset flip powerbomb to down Lynch on the outside, then countered another Manhandle Slam. She hit a big backbreaker, but Lynch kicked out. Lynch got her feet up to block an Over the Moonsault attempt and hit her Manhandle Slam, but SKY kicked out. 

The challenger took out Lynch with a moonsault on the floor, but as she got Lynch back in the ring, Asuka appeared to trip her up on the apron and threw her back in the ring. Lynch hit a final Manhandle Slam to retain, and Asuka beat down her rival in the ring. 

Later in the night, it was revealed that Asuka and SKY will go one-on-one at Backlash in Tampa on May 9. After the announcement, a video package of Asuka was shown, where she explained SKY was her greatest failure, and how she thought they’d be a family once again before SKY ruined it. Asuka said at Backlash, she’s going to teach SKY one final lesson: that she’ll never be ready for Asuka. The recently released Kairi Sane was not mentioned in the promo.

As the road to AEW Double or Nothing 2026 starts to map itself out, the April 22 episode of “AEW Dynamite” saw a lot of action that could have major implications for the weeks ahead. Darby Allin made his first defense of the AEW Men’s World Championship against Tommaso Ciampa. MJF baited Kevin Knight into getting an AEW TNT Championship match for next week, and Will Ospreay’s neck problems caught up to him as he was defeated by Mark Davis.

Despite all of that action, the TV ratings weren’t as kind to AEW as they have been in recent weeks. Wrestlenomics and The Programming Insider both confirmed that the April 22 episode of “Dynamite” averaged a total viewership of 617,000 viewers, a 13% drop from last week’s 710,000 viewers, and 14% below the trailing four week average which currently sits at 715,000 viewers. The April 22 episode of “Dynamite” was also the least watched episode of AEW’s flagship show since February 11, which averaged 604,000 viewers. As always, these figures do not include those who streamed the show live on HBO MAX.

With a drop in viewership meant a drop in the 18-49 demographic as well, with the April 22 event posting a 0.10 number. This is 17% drop from the 0.12 number posted last week, a 29% drop below the trailing four week average of 0.14, and is the lowest number posted in the demo since the March 11 episode which posted a 0.09. In the prime time cable rankings for Wednesday night, “Dynamite” would finish joint-tenth for the night, with the NBA and NHL playoffs on ESPN and TNT respectively earning the vast majority of the viewership in first and second place. However, “Dynamite” did once again have a decent showing with older audiences as the show placed seventh in the 25-54 demographic, finishing with a 0.19 number.

Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker faced off to open “WWE Raw” on Monday, with Rollins making the challenge for Breakker to prove that he is ready for the main event in a singles match at Backlash. 

Breakker returned at WrestleMania 42 for the first time since Rollins had cost him his place in the Royal Rumble, spearing the former leader of the Vision in half to help Gunther take the win on the night. 

Rollins sought revenge against Breakker and the remainder of the Vision during last week’s “Raw” but wound up getting multiple spears as a result. So this week, he went the route of talking things through, coming out to the ring and calling Breakker out to join him.

Breakker said that Rollins had only ever intended for him and Bronson Reed to be foot-soldiers to help him achieve his goals, and that he never needed him or his Vision; he just needed Paul Heyman. 

Rollins said that Breakker had everything to succeed in the business, the combination of strength, speed, and size. But he didn’t have the brains, and he was not ready to make that final step yet. But he would give him a chance to prove that he is, challenging him to a singles match at Backlash. 

Breakker did not accept in the moment, but the match was later made official.

Over the last several years, Ilja Dragunov has made a name for himself as one of WWE’s hardest-hitting performers. During an interview with “Ringer Wrestling,” Dragunov revealed that he’s taken a lot of cues from WWE legend Shawn Michaels, specifically on how to pace himself in the ring. 

“A lesson that I learned very quick from him, I think it was around NXT UK days where Shawn was around a couple of times – it was basically that if you’re not exhausted by your own performing, selling, whatever – you’re not doing [it] right,” he explained.

Dragunov further noted that this ties directly into passion, and whenever he steps into the ring, he feels like he almost dies from how hard he pushes himself. “Even when you look at NXT and the time I worked there, and talked to Shawn a lot of times, he always gave me a beautiful approval of, like, the way that I work and the person that I am,” he claimed. “I never needed to change anything, because it worked out for me.”

At the same time, Dragunov claims he loves a good fight, and admitted that he might sometimes take things too far. “I’m more of a danger to myself in the ring [than] I’m a danger to somebody else sometimes, you know?” he gleefully pointed out. “I don’t think there’s anything that I do like that is not as least as painful for me that it is for the other person.”

Last year, Dragunov had a memorable run with the WWE United States Championship, and made an appearance in the Men’s Royal Rumble this past January. He also took part in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale before WWE WrestleMania 42 but fell short.

Following the shocking release of the entire Wyatt Sicks during last Friday’s post WWE WrestleMania 42 talent cuts, one of the stable’s biggest supporters, Alexa Bliss, spoke out on social media to thank the stars. Bliss took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment about the departures of Uncle Howdy, also known as Bo Dallas, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, Erick Rowan, and her former tag team partner, Nikki Cross.

“Thank you Wyatt Sicks,” Bliss posted, alongside the red circle and black heart emoji. Bliss, who worked with the late Bray Wyatt, whom her current character still takes influence from, including her ring gear style and use of the Sister Abigail finisher, was once rumored to be the sixth person of the “sicks” in the group. The addition of Bliss to the Wyatt Sicks never transpired following her return at the 2025 Royal Rumble.

Bliss has a special bond with Cross from before her time working with Wyatt in 2020. The pair started teaming together in 2019. They would become the first women to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships twice. The team first won the gold from The IIconics in August 2019, and again from the Kabuki Warriors at WrestleMania 36.

Cross responded in thanks, and said she cherished their friendship and was proud of the memories they built together. She said getting to see Bliss with her daughter, Hendrix, and hang out with them had been a wonderful gift.
