WWE’s Dominik Mysterio On Judgment Day Changes: ‘We Played The Finn Balor Playbook’

After removing Finn Balor from the Judgment Day, de facto leader of the group, Dominik Mysterio, spoke about Balor’s ouster and why it had to be done.

Balor and the other members of the Judgment Day had been bickering over the last few months, which indicated that he could be thrown out of the group, which eventually happened on the March 9 edition of “WWE Raw.” In an interview with Reality of Wrestling’s “The Collection” show on YouTube, Mysterio explained why it was necessary for Balor to be removed.

“I mean, I don’t know about the leader [me being called the leader], but you know, that’s what they say, allegedly. You know, it has been a good run for my old pal Finn Balor. It had to be done. There was a lot of differences going on. We weren’t being a cohesive unit and at the end of the day, we played the Finn Balor playbook and that’s what happened. He should have seen it coming,” said Mysterio.

The former WWE Intercontinental Champion is pleased to have ejected Balor from the Judgment Day, and he is even more gleeful that JD McDonagh, who has a long history with Balor, was the one to eventually stab his compatriot and throw him out of the group.

“I’m just happy that at the end of the day, it was my boy JD McDonagh that pulled the trigger, you know. Because I know JD and Finn have their, you know, history, but I’m so happy for JD for finally being able to leave Finn’s shadow,” Mysterio added.

Balor didn’t appear on the following “Raw” after being thrown out of the group, but with the way he was humiliated by his former friends, he will likely return and take revenge on the road to WrestleMania 42.

Report Details Creative Plans For WWE NXT Championship Match At Stand & Deliver 2026

Last night on “WWE NXT,” Ricky Saints, Ethan Page and NXT Champion Joe Hendry were all brutally attacked by Tony D’Angelo, and with Stand & Deliver just under three weeks away, a new report has shed light on the plans for the title at the Premium Live Event following the show.

According to BodySlam+, their sources have indicated that a Fatal Four Way between Saints, Page, Hendry and D’Angelo is expected to take place at Stand & Deliver. Last week, D’Angelo claimed that he returned to “NXT” for two reasons, first was to get revenge on DarkState, and second to become the brand’s top champion, and therefore is targeting Hendry going forward. Additionally, Page indirectly caused Saints to lose his title match against Hendry at Vengeance Day, and though he’s been in pursuit of reclaiming the North American Championship, he shifted his focused to the NXT Title on last night’s episode.

After D’Angelo wiped out all three men in the ring, Interim General Manager Robert Stone announced a match for next Tuesday’s episode of “NXT” between D’Angelo and Saints, which was recommended by Page. BodySlam+ also reports that the tension between Saints and Page will continue to build throughout the next few weeks, as both men have been trying to work together, but have to same goal of becoming NXT Champion.

If the Fatal Four Way comes to fruition, the only star in the match who has never captured the NXT Championship would be D’Angelo, as both Saints and Page would be looking for their second reign with the title.

Backstage Report On WWE’s Current Plans For GUNTHER At WrestleMania 42

Given that he retired Bill Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles in just a six month span, one might expect GUNTHER would be poised for big things come WrestleMania 42. But with only a few weeks to go before the “showcase of the immortals,” nothing concrete has emerged for the former World Heavyweight Champion, who hasn’t appeared on “Raw” since defeating Dragon Lee two weeks ago.

It turns out that absence may be because the original WrestleMania plan for GUNTHER was tied to that Lee match. Bodyslam+ reports that the original intent behind GUNTHER’s victory over Lee was to lead to a feud between GUNTHER and lucha libre legend Rey Mysterio, which would culminate in a match between the two at WrestleMania. However, that match is very much up in the air as Mysterio continues to deal with a rib injury suffered prior to the Royal Rumble, which has kept him out of action since.

What this means for GUNTHER isn’t entirely clear. While it was noted that GUNTHER’s WrestleMania plans had changed as a result of Mysterio’s injury, his Mania plans still seem tied to Mysterio and whether or not the luchador is cleared. As a result, the possibility appears to be on the table that GUNTHER may miss WrestleMania 42.

The 51-year-old Mysterio has not had the easiest last year, missing over seven months in 2025 after suffering a torn groin and ruptured ear drum just a day before he was set to compete at WrestleMania 41. Despite returning in November, Mysterio has continued to deal with health issues, and was absent from the ring for nearly a month between December and January. It’s unclear whether this was the rib injury affecting Mysterio, or if he was dealing with another ailment at the time.

WWE’s Santos Escobar Reportedly Aggravated Injury During AAA Match, Is Set For Surgery

WWE’s Santos Escobar has reportedly worsened an injury that will now require surgery and could put him out of action for some time.

Escobar, as per “Fightful Select,” had suffered an injury at a “WWE NXT” house show back in January, in his match with AAA’s El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. He injured his tricep in that match, but continued to wrestle. The injury is said to have worsened during his match at AAA Rey de Reyes final on March 14, where he faced off against the two El Grande Americanos and La Parka in a four-way match. He is reported to have originally thought it was an injury and not a tear when he injured himself in the “NXT” match, which turned out to be incorrect, as he had, in fact, torn his tricep. Unfortunately for him, the tear will require surgery, and he is set to undergo the procedure on Thursday.

The Mexican star re-signed with WWE in October after becoming a free agent, after initially being reluctant to continue his run with the company due to creative frustrations. The former NXT Cruiserweight Champion has been used sporadically on WWE television over the last year and has, in fact, not wrestled on WWE television since re-signing. He wrestled a few “NXT” house shows in January, including the aforementioned clash with Dr. Wagner Jr., while featuring in WWE’s sister promotion, AAA, earlier last month and earlier this month.

Recent reports have claimed that Escobar isn’t very happy with how he is being used in WWE, while some wrestlers in AAA haven’t been impressed by his showing in the promotion as well.

Jacob Fatu Says Promo Strength Comes From WWE Letting Him Be Himself

Jacob Fatu has opened up about his thought process behind his promos and credited WWE with giving him the freedom to go off the cuff.

Fatu has a unique character that has captivated the WWE fanbase, with one of the most compelling aspects of his gimmick being his promos. WWE requires its performers to stick to promos that its creative team has approved, but it seems that Fatu is one of the few in the promotion who has been given the leeway to improvise on the spot, which he detailed in a recent interview with “TVInsider.”

“Nah, the improv … yeah, you know they [WWE] can hang with that. They are still trusting with the process, but it’s also something I love about WWE. They are letting me be who I am. They ain’t here to change me. I’m going to say it again. They ain’t here to change me. They ain’t doing none of that. They are letting me be me and tapping into what people like me. Just to let them know anything possible. It has been going good,” said Fatu.

Fatu, who debuted in WWE in 2024, came into the promotion all guns blazing, making an immediate impact. The switch to WWE, after spending years on the indie circuit, has helped him learn and grow as a wrestler.

“It would be learning. Learning from family. Learning a lot from Solo [Sikoa]. Learning a lot from “Big” Jim. A lot from Jey Uso, Roman. It’s really about learning a lot from others,” he said. “You’re never been in the game long enough to act like you know it all. So, I think learning the game, structure, all of that.”

Fatu has had a lull period following his impressive start to his WWE career, but he could regain his momentum in the next few weeks as he heads toward WrestleMania, where he could face former world champion Drew McIntyre, with whom he is currently in a feud.
