New Report Reveals Tons Of WWE-Related Details On Vince McMahon’s 80th Birthday Party

Given McMahon’s ongoing situation, questions have been asked regarding talents that did attend. Several sources weren’t surprised to see that, with one WWE wrestler noting many in the promotion still feel they owe McMahon, while another believes talents are waiting to see how the Grant lawsuit turns out before severing ties. In the case of Lawler, a source in contact with him said the former WWE announcer was essentially “ride or die” with McMahon at this stage, and would continue to be so regardless of the accusations.

That was not the case for everyone, as at least one wrestler admitted to feeling morally conflicted about attending, though they didn’t elaborate on why they decided to do so. While some wrestlers didn’t attend due to the overseas tour, others noted the hypocrisy of the situation, as most believed that, had they been accused as McMahon has, they would’ve been fired and blacklisted.

As for McMahon’s current state, one attendee revealed that the former WWE Chairman was looking very much his age, describing McMahon as far more frail and moving slower, a stark contrast to his time in WWE. While talk of McMahon resurfacing in WWE has grown louder since Brock Lesnar’s return, WWE sources say there are no talks of McMahon returning, and that those atop WWE have “no desire” to bring McMahon back at this time. As a result, McMahon’s party with several WWE names in attendance may be the closest McMahon will get to a WWE reunion.

WWE Clash In Paris 2025: Hyped Or Hate It?

With recognizing that Logan Paul is a freakishly good athlete who has taken to professional wrestling better than any of his haters would have expected, we hate that “The Maverick” is going one-on-one with John Cena for a variety of reasons. One of the biggest reasons is the one that’s being echoed around the internet amongst the IWC: this feels like a wasted match on Cena’s retirement tour.

Following Clash in Paris, Cena will have just nine dates left throughout the rest of the year, with six of those already being announced that include other premium live events and his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. The cries of the IWC about his match with Paul is something Cena himself brought up during his last promo on “WWE SmackDown.” In addition to addressing the fact many fans think it’s a wasted match, he brought up other names who he’d like to face, that we’re sure fans would agree on, like AJ Styles, Jacob Fatu, Dominik Mysterio, and more. It made sense in the promo, but it also feels like Cena highlighted the fact this absolutely feels like a waste.

In addition to this feeling like a wasted match, it also still slightly reeks of Cena’s failed heel run. He and Paul teamed together back in May at Money in the Bank and now, they hate each other (though Cena has mentioned he respects Paul as an athlete) enough to have a match on a PLE. It makes sense that WWE is likely using Paul, who gets mega heat, to babyface Cena’s character back up, but that’s not really something that needs to be done. Fans were cheering Cena throughout his heel run anyway.

The fewer dates left on the tour, the louder the cheers, especially in places like Paris where fans haven’t gotten to see Cena in awhile. You don’t need to use Paul as a heat magnetic at all, and a fan-favorite like Fatu or Styles could have taken his place. At this point of Cena’s retirement tour, WWE needs to realize fans don’t need to necessarily see him go up against a heel. Fans just want those remaining dream matches, with a bit of build and story behind them.

All other thoughts and feelings about Brock Lesnar aside, we also really believed that he was going to be Cena’s next opponent, and Paris seemed a possible location for that match due to any potential negative crowd reaction in the US. While “The Beast Incarnate” could still very well make an appearance in Paris to cost Cena the match or beat him down after, the strong setup to that match at SummerSlam makes Cena’s match against Paul, now, feel a bit strange and definitely flat — possibly because it’s not nearly as big of a match after the huge return by Lesnar.

AEW’s Swerve Strickland Reveals He’s Undergone Knee Surgery Following Forbidden Door

After it was revealed last week that Swerve Strickland has been dealing with a torn meniscus for years, which was recently aggravated during a match, the AEW star has seemingly undergone surgery on his knee. Strickland posted a picture of his bandaged leg on his Instagram Story this morning, less than three full days after losing to Kazuchika Okada at AEW Forbidden Door. The wrestler also shared an image of Solid Snake, protagonist of the Metal Gear video game series, recovering from an injury.

The initial report on Strickland’s knee stated that first tore his meniscus while working out at the WWE Performance Center in 2019. He opted for rehab instead of surgery, but his meniscus seems to have never fully healed.

Strickland had been working with the Jacksonville Jaguars medical team to see what could be done, as AEW owner Tony Khan’s family also owns the NFL team. Though Strickland was cleared to work the match against Okada on Sunday, it seems he’ll step away for the foreseeable future as he heals up.

Unfortunately for AEW, Strickland isn’t the only top star that the company will have to do without for the time being. His former (temporary) tag team partner Will Ospreay is dealing with a neck injury that’s slated to keep him out for an extended period of time as well. Recent months have also seen the losses of “Switchblade” Jay White, Nick Wayne, and Adam Cole, who may not be able to return due to his history of concussions.

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon Files Motion To Throw Out Reckless Driving Case

Vince McMahon is reportedly moving to dismiss his reckless driving lawsuit.

McMahon was cited on July 24 for an accident involving his 2024 Bentley colliding with a 2023 BMW 430 then a guardrail, with debris from the incident affecting a third driver in a Ford Fusion. No one sustained any discernible injuries from the crash, though McMahon’s car was written-off with irreversible damage to its front. McMahon was due in court on misdemeanor reckless driving and following too closely resulting in an accident.

McMahon’s attorney in the case, Mark Sherman, has confirmed to Wrestling Inc., as first reported by TMZ, that he filed a motion on his client’s behalf on Tuesday to suspend and dismiss the matter. He said if the motion was granted, it “would ensure a complete dismissal of the case but still allows Vince to convey contrition and concern for the other drivers, which is his top priority.”

A hearing has been scheduled for mid-October. McMahon himself has yet to publicly comment on the situation.

McMahon is embroiled in further legal action in Connecticut with the sex trafficking lawsuit filed against him by Janel Grant in January 2024, but also in Maryland for the lawsuit filed against him and Linda McMahon for their alleged part in what became known as the “Ring Boy” Scandal. He is also fighting a lawsuit in Delaware with plaintiffs alleging that he had pushed through the sale of WWE to Endeavor for his own personal gain as opposed to doing what was in the best interest of shareholders.

Roxanne Perez Hits Finisher On CM Punk At WWE Live Event

In the main event of the third WWE Clash In Paris house show tour last night, CM Punk, Sami Zayn and Penta entered battle with Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh of The Judgment Day in a Six Man Tag Team Match. Although the babyface team would emerge victorious, Punk was nearly pinned by Mysterio after Roxanne Perez shockingly attacked the “Best In The World.”

On Tuesday, a fan took to social media to share a video of Perez delivering her finishing move Pop Rox to Punk while the referee was distracted, which almost led “Dirty Dom” to secure the pinfall.

“cm punk just took a pop rox from roxanne.”

Earlier in the night, Perez and her tag team partner Raquel Rodriguez failed to recapture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships after losing to Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. WWE’s tour of the United Kingdom has been rough for The Judgement Day, as every member of the group has yet to score a victory on the house show circuit thus far. Perez and Rodriguez both lost to IYO SKY in singles action on separate occasions, while Mysterio, Balor and McDonagh have failed to defeat Punk, Zayn and Penta in three consecutive matches. Although Perez is not featured on the Clash In Paris card this upcoming weekend, Punk will look to regain the World Heavyweight Championship when he challenges Seth Rollins, LA Knight and Jey Uso in a Fatal Four Way Match.
