NXT Viewership Declines for August 26 Episode

NXT Viewership Declines for August 26 Episode – NXT experienced another dip in viewership for the August 26 episode, which aired live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

According to Wrestlenomics, the show averaged 616,000 viewers, marking a decline from last week’s 675,000. The 18-49 key demographic also slipped, drawing a 0.12 rating compared to last week’s 0.15. Both numbers reflect a week-to-week decrease in audience engagement for the developmental brand.

The episode opened with Ricky Saints addressing the crowd and calling out NXT Champion Oba Femi. Instead, Josh Briggs answered the challenge, leading Ava to set up a match between the two to decide Femi’s next challenger. Saints went on to defeat Briggs, securing his title opportunity, before trading verbal shots with Femi later in the night.

Other highlights from the show included Lexis King scoring a controversial win over Myles Borne in a blindfold match, using underhanded tactics to secure the victory. In the main event, Lola Vice teamed with Zaria and Sol Ruca to face Fatal Influence in six-woman tag team action. The trio emerged victorious, closing the show with momentum in their corner.

The drop in numbers comes as NXT continues to build toward its next premium live event, No Mercy, with several major matches beginning to take shape. Saints will now move forward as the number one contender to Oba Femi’s NXT Championship, while Lola Vice also has a championship match confirmed for the event against Jacy Jayne.

WWE NXT Ratings & Viewership Report: 8/26/2025

“WWE NXT’s” Heatwave premium live event wasn’t enough to keep viewers’ attention as the summer comes to a close, and WWE’s developmental brand saw a dip in ratings compared to the last few weeks. “NXT” had posted some of its best numbers for the year in August, drawing over 700,000 viewers in back-to-back weeks, but viewership dipped for the August 26 episode from the previous week’s 675,000 viewers.

According to Programming Insider, this week’s episode of “NXT” drew 615,000 viewers following Heatwave. The episode earned a 0.12 rating in the ever-important ages 18-49 demographic. The episode was down nine percent in viewership from the August 19 episode and 13 percent over the trailing four weeks average of 704,000 viewers. In the demographic, “NXT” fell 20 percent from the previous week and 25 percent over the trailing four weeks.

The episode saw a blindfold match pitting Myles Borne against Lexis King, which was announced previously by “NXT” General Manager Ava in a backstage segment with King during Heatwave. Ricky Saints defeated Josh Briggs to earn a shot at Oba Femi’s NXT Championship at No Mercy at the end of September. The main event saw six-woman tag team action with Lola Vice, the new number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship, teaming up with Sol Ruca and Zaria to take on Fatal Influence.

While two titles changed hands at Heatwave, including Jacy Jayne losing the TNA Knockouts Championship to Ash by Elegance and Darkstate capturing the NXT Tag Team Championships from Hank & Tank, the moves didn’t appear to affect the ratings in a positive manner.

WWE HOFer DDP Hospitalized Following Atrial Fibrillation

WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page is recovering in the hospital after suffering from atrial fibrillation during a recent workout. Page shared the news, alongside a video of himself recovering and stretching in his hospital bed, on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday. Page said he posted “minutes after waking up from a successful cardioversion,” or a procedure to get his abnormal heartbeat back to normal.

“Last week, I went into AFib,” Dallas explained. “I normally wear a heart monitor when training, but for some reason didn’t this day. I pushed myself too hard, felt ‘off’, dizzy, and heart racing… and well, here we are… This is my 2nd time with AFib (irregular heartbeats) in the past 3 years. I’ll have a cardio ablation next month and should be good to go.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, cardiac ablation is a minimally invasive procedure using heat, cold, or short bursts of energy to create scars to stop the electrical impulses that cause irregular heart rhythms.

Page said that he promised his wife he would never forget his heart monitor or his Apple watch while working out again. He told followers if they are over 50 years old or have enlarged hearts that they should also wear heart monitors. He threw in a mention to his DDP Yoga account. In the video, he joked he could “always do DDP Yoga stretches” and stretched his leg into the air while mentioning his hamstrings were tight from working out, all while attached to beeping monitors with IVs in his arm.

The 69 year old’s last appearance in the ring was in a six-match tag team match alongside Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall on a January 2020 episode of “AEW Dynamite.” He appeared at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in April to inducted Lex Luger.

WWE HOFer Kevin Nash Details Unexpected Way Tariffs Are Impacting Pro Wrestling

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has never shied away from voicing his opinions on politics, despite the way his audience might or might not feel about the figures he criticizes. However, Nash recently pointed out how the current international tariff situation between the United States and other countries has impacted pro wrestling fans in ways they might not realize.

According to Nash during an episode of his “Kliq This” podcast, someone he knows in the wrestling collectible action figure industry claims that tariffs have been hitting that aspect of the industry hard.

“It was like, it cost him, the manufacturing was 30% from the figures that he’s done,” the veteran claimed, adding that the person he spoke to has manufactured several notable figures for wrestlers like Randy Savage. “He told me that it was like unbelievable, the amount that he’s having to pay in tariffs.”

Nash hasn’t only addressed the real-world implications of politics on his podcast before, and once expressed who in the wrestling industry would make a great United States President. Naturally, the veteran went with his long-time friend, Paul Levesque, explaining that the WWE CCO is level-headed and has several leadership qualities in the industry that would translate perfectly into politics. Interestingly, Levesque recently made an appearance alongside sitting US President Donald Trump at a White House event where the President signed an executive order focused on expanding his council on sports, focusing on fitness and nutrition, as well as reviving the Presidential Fitness Test in public schools.
