UFC Inducts Demetrious Johnson Into The Hall Of Fame

UFC announced during Fight Night 271 that Demetrious Johnson would be inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of the Modern Wing this year.

Johnson was in attendance for Fight Night 271 on Saturday, headlined by Israel Adesanya versus Joe Pyfer at middleweight, and was shown during the event alongside his family as his induction was announced.

“Taking his rightful place. Mighty Mouse becomes the newest athlete to join the UFC Hall of Fame,” the announcement read via X.

Johnson inaugurated the UFC Flyweight Championship in 2012, reigning for 2142 days until 2018 and setting a record for longest reign in the division, including 12 fights with the title on the line. He left UFC after being traded to ONE for Ben Askren in 2018, going on to win the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix and then the Flyweight Championship before retiring in 2024, becoming the first inductee into ONE’s Hall of Fame.

“Feels good. It’s been a long time coming… It’s about damn time,” Johnson said about his induction in a video posted to X.

“Demetrious Johnson is the greatest flyweight of all-time,” said UFC President Dana White. “Demetrious was a great champion who had one of the most incredible careers in MMA, and his streak of 11 consecutive title defenses is one of the most remarkable records we’ve ever seen in professional sports. It will be an honor to induct him into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer.”

Johnson will be the 18th member of the Modern Wing, dedicated to fighters who turned professional after November 17, 2000. He joins the fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk versus Weili Zhang at UFC 248 in 2020 in the UFC Hall of Fame Class of 2026, with that being the first women’s fight to receive the honor.

Kevin Nash: WWE Wrestlers Like Working For Paul Levesque ‘Because He’s Not Vince’

It’s all about the game, and how you play it. And for Paul Levesque (Triple H), he played it well, after taking the reins following his father-in-law, Vince McMahon’s, departure. Going from one of the masterminds behind the development of “WWE NXT” and executive vice president of talent, live events, and creative to head of creative and chief content officer in 2022, “The Game” ultimately became the polarized babyface by turning around the Stamford-based promotion and its quality (well, depending on who you talk to). That said, Kevin Nash agrees that Triple H’s new position has given him a positive edge and a well-likeness among the wrestlers in the back.

“Paul is in charge of creative, but people don’t understand that Paul’s also the f**king coach,” the Hall of Famer and friend of Triple H’s said on his “Kliq This” podcast. “He has a room full of writers…There’s no way Paul is going to dictate ’cause he’s never been that way. He’s always been a darling for the guys in the locker room…They like working for him ’cause he’s not Vince.”

Since Triple H took over, there have been a lot of full-throttle decisions/moves. First, WWE expanded its market globally with several big promotional collaborations. Here at home, WWE established a multi-year partnership with former rival, TNA. He also went on to acquire Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide last April. However, there have been some mixed bag decisions made not just by him, but other corporate officials, like WWE moving its premium live events (PLE) from Peacock (in the United States) to ESPN and the company’s continued partnership with Saudi Arabia. His current project is working on how to draw more fans in to fill out the rest of the seats available at this year’s WrestleMania 42 on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

CM Punk Stands Tall After Destroying Roman Reigns On Raw

CM Punk Stands Tall After Destroying Roman Reigns On Raw

CM Punk and Roman Reigns took their rivalry to another level as Monday Night Raw at Madison Square Garden ended in chaos, with Punk standing tall after a brutal closing segment ahead of WrestleMania 42.

Reigns opened the segment by demanding that New York acknowledge him, but he was quickly interrupted by Punk, who stormed to the ring ready to fight. The two wasted no time, trading heavy shots as the crowd erupted. Punk gained the early advantage before Reigns answered back with a flying body block.

The fight spilled outside, where Punk sent Reigns over the top rope and crashing into the announce table. Officials rushed out in an attempt to regain control, but Punk kept the pressure on, slamming Reigns into the ring post and clearing off the announce desk.

Reigns fired back with punches and attempted to set up a powerbomb, but his attention shifted to the officials, taking them out instead. The chaos continued as officials prevented both a powerbomb from Reigns and a GTS from Punk.

Moments later, Reigns charged for a spear but missed, accidentally taking out referee Petey Williams. That opening allowed Punk to connect with a GTS. With the crowd firmly behind him, Punk assured fans he was fine before continuing the assault.

He then delivered the decisive moment of the night, powerbombing Reigns through the announce table in a direct response to what happened the week prior. Punk sat beside Reigns, taunting and striking him as the segment came to a close, before rising to stand over him as Raw went off the air.

The exchange evens the score between the two after Reigns previously laid Punk out in similar fashion, setting the stage for their World Heavyweight Championship clash on Night 2 of WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

D-Von Dudley Admits He Tried To Kill New Jack In Shocking Confession

D-Von Dudley reflected on the legacy of New Jack, describing him as one of the most unpredictable and intense personalities the wrestling business has ever seen, while also opening up about the deep personal bond they shared behind the scenes.

Speaking during an interview with DJ Vlad, D-Von explained that while New Jack’s in-ring persona was chaotic and dangerous, the man behind it, Jerome Young, was someone he grew to genuinely care about.

Their relationship, however, was far from smooth. D-Von admitted the two had multiple real-life altercations over the years, both inside and outside the ring. One of the most explosive moments came after WWE asked talent to contribute to a music project. D-Von decided to include a Tupac-inspired lyric that referenced New Jack, knowing how much he admired the rapper.

“I took a piece out of Tupac and put that in the lyrics, and actually put his name in it, and it pissed him off something morally. He went nuts and he threatened to kill me, shoot me, everything,” D-Von said. “I knew I got underneath his skin at that point.”

The tension between them lingered for years before the two eventually reconciled not long before New Jack’s passing. D-Von shared that they both came to realize how much they respected one another and chose to move forward.

“We both realized that we were two guys that basically really cared for one another, and we let something like that stupidness come in between us for so long, and we buried the hatchet,” D-Von said.

Their final interaction remains a meaningful memory for D-Von, recalling a heartfelt exchange at an independent wrestling event.

“I remember we both said to each other at the same time, ‘Love you, bro.’ And I was like, ‘No, I love you.’ He’s like, ‘No, I love you.’ And we separated and went our separate ways,” D-Von said.

D-Von also addressed one of the most infamous and dangerous moments involving the two, when he threw New Jack off a scaffold during a match. While the original plan involved a safer landing through stacked tables, D-Von admitted things did not go as intended, revealing it was done in retaliation.

When asked if the situation could have ended in tragedy depending on how New Jack landed, D-Von acknowledged that it could have been fatal. He also confirmed that, in that moment, his intent was to seriously harm him.

Despite their turbulent history, D-Von made it clear that the bond they ultimately shared outweighed everything else, admitting he still misses New Jack every single day.
