AEW’s Claudio Castagnoli Set For CMLL Title Rematch Against Lucha Libre Legend

Despite only holding the championship for a smidge more than three months, AEW’s Claudio Castagnoli has put his stamp on the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship, successfully defending it five times, just two behind previous champion Gran Guerrero’s seven successful title defenses over three years. And Castagnoli won’t be slowing down at all, as he gets set for his sixth title defense against a lucha libre legend and a foe that’s a tad too familiar.¡Un desafío de otro nivel!

This will be a familiar challenger for Castagnoli, who made his first defense against Guerrero back in December, defeating the long-time CMLL sar in just a little under 13 minutes. Still, Guerrero should be a formidable opponent for Castagnoli, having previously held the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship twice for a combined 2,037 days and 26 defenses, and serving as one of CMLL’s top stars for nearly 30 years.

Before he faces Guerrero, Castagnoli will have to deal with another former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion in Hechicero. After Hechicero prevented Castagnoli from uing the CMLL World Heavyweight Title as a weapon on “Collision,” the two will be on opposite sides this upcoming Wednesday, with Hechicero teaming with Don Callis Family member stablemate Konosuke Takeshita, while Castagnoli backs up AEW Continental Champion and Death Riders leader Jon Moxley.

Booker T Explains How Danhausen Fits In WWE: ‘Could Become A Merchandising Machine’

Danhausen is popular-hausen. Not even two weeks since his WWE debut at the Elimination Chamber PLE in Chicago, and many are already invested in seeing what the “Very Nice, Very Evil” mastermind has up his sleeve. Hoping to not be on the receiving end of Danhausen’s “curses,” Booker T believes a character like his can be showcased well on both the main roster and potentially elsewhere, including one of WWE’s recent acquisitions.

“He could be used on AAA shows,” the two-time WWE Hall of Famer said on his podcast. “They got a lot of gimmicks over there…so he’ll fit right in, you know, in the AAA mode. How far is he going to go on the main roster, you know? Who you gonna match him up with…What are we really trying to get out of the Danhausen character? It definitely could become a merchandising machine…if marketed right.”

Already, stars on the main roster are feeling the magnetic pull of Danhausen. Speaking of AAA, the current Mega Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio was recently cursed by the demon-possessed star, which cost him his WWE Men’s Intercontinental Championship, and flourished Penta’s career in the company with his first championship victory. Now, The Miz might be next in Danhausen’s cursed clutches if he doesn’t help the newcomer obtain his requests.

UFC Inducts Its First Women’s Fight Into The Hall Of Fame

Wrestling Inc. is expanding its coverage into MMA. Here’s some of the latest news we’ve been working on.

UFC inducted its first women’s fight into the Hall of Fame over the weekend.

During UFC 326, a package played to announce the induction of Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili’s fight at UFC 248 into its Hall of Fame ‘Fight Wing.’ It marks the first time a women’s fight has received the honor.

The fight served as the co-main event of Israel Adesanya vs. Yoel Romero, taking place on March 7, 2020, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Zhang was entering as Strawweight Champion on a 20-fight win streak, having beaten Jessica Andrade to become the first Chinese UFC Champion.

Jedrzejczyk entered the bout as the challenger with wins over Andrade and Carla Esparza, and although she did not win and take the title on the night, she certainly earned the respect of everyone after going the distance despite severe hematoma swelling.

Zhang was declared winner by split decision after 25 minutes, and after their fight won several awards a rematch was booked for UFC 275 on June 12, 2022. Zhang removed any doubt from her initial victory with a KO win in the second round.

The UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony is slated to take place over the summer.

AEW’s Jim Ross Says Late WWE Director Kerwin Silfies Belongs In Hall Of Fame In 2026

Last month, former WWE Director Kerwin Silfies sadly passed away at the age of 75. Known for playing a key role in WWE’s programming for over 35 years, Silfies directed many of the company’s weekly episodes, Premium Live Events, and crucially some of the first editions of WrestleMania. Having worked in a backstage role, many fans were unware of Silfies’ contributions to the the promotion, but in a recent episode of “Grilling JR,” WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross provided insight on the former Director’s impact on the wrestling business and his career.

“Very hardworking, very skilled. He was a big asset for me, me going there and being new and coming from the enemy, so to speak. But Kerwin was always very polite, very nice. We had a lot of fun having a cocktail here, there, and yon, but I had a good rapport with Kerwin, and he’s going to be missed.”

Ross continued to explain that he wishes he could’ve spent more time with Silfies, as he fell out of touch with him over the years, but claims that he absolutely deserves to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame.

“I just think it’s a no-brainer. I think that he’s earned his way into the Hall Of Fame, and looking at the Hall Of Fame list, some names you’ll see on there that kind of surprise you. But Kerwin’s name on there, it wouldn’t surprise me or anybody that’s been around very long. He deserves every accolade that he can be bestowed upon.”
