With most of the WrestleMania 42 card seemingly in flux, many have been left wondering what will be the fate of several wrestlers when it comes to the “Showcase of the Immortals.” Among the most popular wrestlers fans are speculatin about is LA Knight, who has no clear direction after coming up short in the Men’s Elimination Chamber and having issues with The Vision over the last several months.

In an appearance on “The Coach’s Corner,” Knight was asked if he could give any details regarding his WrestleMania plans. He revealed there was no reason to worry about any details, because Knight himself is currently unaware of what he’ll be doing at WrestleMania himself.

“I know about as much as you do,” Knight said. “And people find that hard to believe, but in all honesty, that’s just wrestling. You know, when I came up in wrestling, I’d say most of the times I was going to a show, I’d never even met my opponent before. So I’m meeting him 2 or 3 hours before showtime before we, you know, learn anything. With that being the case, I don’t know a lot. I’d like to know more. 

“But all I know is its going to be, of course, as it always is, it’s going to be a gigantic week. It’s going to be a gigantic success. You’re talking about people coming from all corners of the world to Las Vegas for, you know, essentially what’s our big bash, our kind of send off party for the year, where things come to an end and things kind of start blooming into the new. I’m just looking forward to that whole environment, and what that turns into in that whole week and weekend.”

Since Oba Femi was called up to the main roster at the beginning of the year, the opponent that fans have been itching to see him stand toe-to-toe with is none other than seven-time WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar. In December, it was reported that “The Beast” plans on retiring this year, and during a recent interview with “TVInsider,” Femi hinted at the idea of being the one to end Lesnar’s career.

“What a run for him. He had two separate runs, and they’ve both been fantastic. It would be really cool to face him. I know the fans have been asking for that match. It’s going to happen one day soon. What a run he has had the UFC champion, multiple time WWE champion, Royal Rumble winner, dominance. What a way to cap it off by facing “The Ruler.”‘

Last month, Paul Heyman announced that Lesnar will be holding an open challenge at WrestleMania 42, and Femi has been one of the rumored opponents to answer the call. In the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, Lesnar is scheduled to appear on several episodes of “WWE Raw” where he’ll be waiting for anyone brave enough in the locker room to step inside the ring with him. 

Additionally, it remains to be seen if Femi will be Lesnar’s final opponent, as this year’s SummerSlam will take place in the former UFC Champion’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the speculated location for his retirement. Lesnar’s most recent match in the Men’s Royal Rumble this past January, where he and Femi were face-to-face for the first time in history.

The road to WrestleMania 42 seemed to get a bit clearer this past Friday on “SmackDown,” when Cody Rhodes put an end to Drew McIntyre’s Undisputed WWE Championship reign, winning the title for the third time. The victory now puts Rhodes on a collision course with long-time friend Randy Orton for WrestleMania, though the path WWE took to get there has many speculating that this was not the original plan WWE had in mind.

As it turns out, the original plan was for McIntyre and Rhodes to settle their differences at WrestleMania instead of “SmackDown.” PWInsider Elite reports that Rhodes vs. McIntyre in a Hell in a Cell match was the original pitch for the Undisputed WWE Championship match. The idea behind the match was to “play off” the injuries Rhodes and McIntyre had suffered in their past Hell in a Cell bouts against Seth Rollins and CM Punk respectively, as well as Rhodes and McIntyre’s January cage match as part of Three Stages of Hell, where McIntyre won the title from Rhodes.

Ultimately, WWE instead made the call to pivot back to Rhodes as champion in order to face Orton, while McIntyre is now expected to face Jacob Fatu, whose involvement in the “SmackDown” match helped cost McIntyre the championship. It was further noted that WWE’s ongoing restructuring of the WrestleMania card due to various injuries helped influence WWE’s decision to go with Rhodes vs. Orton over Rhodes vs. McIntyre.

On Sunday’s “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Dave Meltzer echoed the idea that Orton vs. Cody and McIntyre vs. Fatu were the WrestleMania matches. However, he stopped short of saying the card wouldn’t change again, revealing he had “not been told that 100%” that the matches were happening. 

This past summer, WWE color commentator and former NFL kicker Pat McAfee announced that he would stepping away from the broadcast desk after experiencing burnout due to his multiple responsibilities in the sport media world. With WrestleMania 42 on the horizon, many believed McAfee would’ve returned by now, but according to the 38-year-old himself, his journey in professional wrestling may be coming to an end.

On Sunday, McAfee was responding to questions on his Instagram story, and when asked about his future with WWE, he explained that he will not be returning anytime soon.

“I don’t think you ever say never, especially with the WWE. But right now it doesn’t feel like something that’s supposed to happen. It doesn’t feel like – it feels like that business has kind of passed me by a little bit. I grew up loving it. Dreamed of working it. Feel honored that I had the opportunity to work alongside the GOAT Michael Cole. But I feel like the business is in a good spot without me. I’ll continue to watch.”

Just weeks before announcing that he would be stepping away from professional wrestling, McAfee competed in his first singles match in two years when he entered the ring with GUNTHER at Backlash. The former football player was also on the call for WWE Wrestlepalooza in September, which is his most recent appearance at the broadcast table. McAfee has been heavily involved at WrestleMania throughout the past four years, whether it be in a commentary or in-ring capacity, but due to his latest comments, it remains to be seen if he’ll make an appearance at this year’s event.

It was a sight to see this past Sunday, as Charlie (formerly known as WWE star Dakota Kai) made her in-ring return at EVE Wrestle Queendom 8 in London, 10 months after her WWE release.

In her return match, Charlie challenged the current EVE International Champion and former AEW Women’s World Champion, Kris Statlander. Despite earlier leverage on Charlie’s part, “Big Stat Daddy” retained her championship after executing three straight Saturday Night Fever tombstone piledrivers. Even though she was unsuccessful on Sunday, the reception she got from colleagues -former and possibly future – was enough for Charlie to feel like a champion. Some of those thoughtful messages came from former two-time WWE Women’s Champion Bianca Belair stating, “So happy you’re back in the ring! Wrestling needs you! [kissing emoji], and former-two time AEW International Champion and working producer/creative member of EVE, Will Ospreay, agreeing with a question proposed to him on whether Charlie should join the AEW women’s division.

Charlie was one of several stars who was released in May of 2025 from WWE, concluding her second tenure at three years. Her first return came at SummerSlam in 2022, where she joined Bayley and IYO SKY under Damage CTRL. Never a single’s women’s champion, Charlie conquered the women’s tag team championships both on the main roster (twice) and twice in “WWE NXT.” She and Raquel Rodriguez were the first to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship five years ago to the day tomorrow (March 10, 2021). As of this report, Charlie hasn’t signed with any other major company outside of WWE yet.
