Report: WWE WrestleMania 42 Plans ‘Up In The Air’ After Disappointing Ticket Sales

WrestleMania 41 benefited from having John Cena main eventing night two and rumors of The Rock appearing at the show, while this year, some of that star power is lacking in addition to wrestling fans and pundits being critical of the current product. It’s no secret that many have grown unhappy with WWE’s creative direction, including Reigns, who went viral after claiming the company hadn’t evolved in two years ahead of the Royal Rumble, and with the cheapest ticket available being $266.80 USD for WrestleMania 42, fans who agree with the “OTC” may feel that it’s not worth it to purchase a seat.

So how can WWE turn things around within the next two months? The most likely option would be to scrap plans and book the biggest matches possible on paper, which could be the current direction based on Meltzer’s report. Otherwise, with rumors of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin appearing in the near future, WWE could rely on some of its legends to get involved at WrestleMania 42, or give a last minute call to The Rock in order to boost sales. However, outside of disappointment towards creative, fans seem to be the most displeased with the pricing of all WWE events, which has increased due to the promotion’s partnership with TKO. Therefore, it remains to be seen if WrestleMania 42 marks a breaking point for WWE fans, who are starting to put their foot down when it comes to ticket prices.
