The April 6 pisode of WWE RAW delivered a surprise as Rey Mysterio made his return ahead of WrestleMania 42. After missing last year’s event due to injury, the Hall of Famer is now set to compete on the biggest stage.
RAW took place at the Toyota Center in Houston, where fans witnessed a six-man tag team match. Los Americanos faced Je’Von Evans, Penta, and Dragon Lee. The bout ended with Evans scoring the pinfall victory for his team.
After the match, Mysterio made an unexpected appearance. He entered the ring and addressed the competitors, first congratulating Penta on his current title run. The moment quickly shifted as Mysterio pointed out that the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania was missing a key name.

Mysterio revealed that he had spoken with Adam Pearce, and the decision was made to include him in the match. With that announcement, he officially declared himself as the latest entrant in the high-stakes ladder bout.
The return is notable given Mysterio’s recent injury. He had been out of action with fractured ribs suffered during a match against Austin Theory on the January 26, 2026 episode of RAW. His recovery now places him back in position to compete at WrestleMania.
The Intercontinental Championship ladder match is now set with six competitors. Mysterio joins JD McDonagh, Dragon Lee, Je’Von Evans, himself, Rusev, and Penta. The updated lineup adds experience and star power to a match that already features a mix of styles and high-risk offense.
With Mysterio officially back, the WrestleMania 42 card continues to take shape. His inclusion adds another layer to the ladder match, which is expected to be one of the standout bouts on the show.
