Rhea Ripley captured the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42 Sunday, defeating Jade Cargill in a competitive match that marked a shift in the division.

The match began with a tense exchange before both competitors locked up. Early momentum went to Cargill, who used her strength advantage to control the pace with a shoulder tackle and slam. Ripley answered with quick offense, including a dropkick that sent Cargill to the outside.

Cargill regained control by targeting Ripley’s back and using the ringside area to her advantage. She followed with a powerslam and later connected with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Ripley continued to push back, showing resilience and refusing to stay down.

The middle portion of the match saw both competitors trade offense. Ripley landed a double leg takedown and strikes, while Cargill responded with a spinebuster and a thrust kick for another close near fall. Attempts at finishing moves were repeatedly countered, with Ripley escaping Jaded and Cargill blocking the Riptide.

Interference became a factor late in the match. Michin appeared at ringside and distracted the referee, while B-Fab attempted to assist Cargill. The referee caught the interference before it fully impacted the finish.

Moments later, Iyo Sky made her way to the ring and neutralized both Michin and B-Fab, clearing the ringside area. The distraction allowed the match to return to a one-on-one situation.

In the closing sequence, Cargill connected with a bicycle kick and nearly secured the win. However, Ripley countered a follow-up attempt, regained control, and delivered Riptide to secure the three-count.

With the victory, Ripley becomes a two-time WWE Women’s Champion and adds another accomplishment to her career, which already includes multiple world title reigns and major tournament wins. Cargill’s reign, which began in November 2025, comes to an end.

The result establishes Ripley once again at the top of the division following WrestleMania 42.
