More than two months after his debut in the WWE Royal Rumble, Royce Keys is officially set to make his first televised appearance on WWE SmackDown.
WWE has confirmed that Keys will debut on this Friday’s episode, which takes place at the SAP Center. Although he has competed in multiple dark matches since the Royal Rumble, this marks his first time appearing on WWE television since January. The location holds added significance, as the show is being held near East Palo Alto, where Keys grew up.
To build anticipation for his arrival, WWE released a video package highlighting Keys’ journey, focusing on the challenges he overcame and the support system that helped him reach this stage. In the video, Keys spoke candidly about his upbringing and motivation.
“Not a lot of people can make it out of here,” Keys said about East Palo Alto. “I just want to do my part. This is all I ever wanted to do, this is all I know, this is what brings me peace, this is what motivates me. This is it. I refuse to be defined by where I’m from, but instead by where I’m going.”
Keys, formerly known as Powerhouse Hobbs, ended his six-year run with AEW earlier this year before signing with WWE. Following his Royal Rumble appearance, he also sat down with Stephanie McMahon on her “What’s Your Story?” podcast, where he discussed his background and long-term ambitions, including winning championships and eventually contributing behind the scenes in WWE.
During the Royal Rumble match, Keys made an immediate impact by eliminating Damian Priest. The moment sparked speculation about a potential rivalry between the two, though WWE has yet to confirm if that program will continue.
Friday’s SmackDown marks the second-to-last episode before WrestleMania 42, adding further importance to Keys’ debut. The current lineup for the show includes several key segments and matches:
- Cody Rhodes responds to Pat McAfee
- Pat McAfee addresses the WWE Universe
- Drew McIntyre vows to expose Jacob Fatu
- Sami Zayn seeks payback against Trick Williams
- Royce Keys makes his SmackDown debut
With momentum from his Royal Rumble showing and a strong personal story behind him, all eyes will be on Keys to see how he performs in his long-awaited SmackDown debut.
