Shayna Baszler Opens Up On WWE Status, WrestleMania With Becky Lynch, And Ronda Rousey’s Future – Shayna Baszler sat down with Chris Van Vliet on Insight with Chris Van Vliet for an in-depth interview covering her current relationship with WWE, her WrestleMania experience against Becky Lynch, and the possibility of a future Ronda Rousey return. During the conversation, Baszler offered detailed insight into where she stands professionally and reflected on some of the most defining moments of her WWE run.
When asked directly if she is currently working for WWE, Baszler clarified her status while explaining how her behind-the-scenes involvement began.
“I’m not officially hired, but I have a good relationship with them. I’m officially guest coaching when the opportunity comes. I don’t hate it. I actually like it a lot more than I thought I would. So how that all came about is that Daniel Bryan, it was during COVID, and Daniel Bryan was always the guy sitting in Gorilla… If you ever get a chance to sit in the truck or sit on a headset, it completely changed my wrestling. I feel like my wrestling went to another level, because you get to see what they look for, and how they call things, and the time it takes.”
Baszler was also asked whether she feels her career as an in-ring WWE Superstar is finished. She made it clear that she is not ready to close that door.
“Never say never in this business. I mean, weirder things have happened, right? If I get over with something crazy on the Indies or something, and I get an offer… I’ll always feel like I can go.”
Reflecting on her WrestleMania match against Becky Lynch, which took place without fans during the pandemic, Baszler spoke candidly about the emotional weight of the moment.
“I remember pulling up to the PC that day for my WrestleMania match… and being kind of down. This is my WrestleMania match… I had gotten [my nieces] all tickets… They were going to be there and see this… And then they couldn’t.”
Despite the disappointment, she expressed pride in what they accomplished.
“I am proud of the match that we had… because it was at a time when nothing else was going on in the world.”
Baszler also discussed Ronda Rousey’s final WWE match and potential future. She confirmed she knew SummerSlam would be Rousey’s last appearance due to her contract ending and plans to have another child.
“So I knew, because I’m very close with her… That was the last date on her contract.”
On whether Rousey could return, Baszler remained open-minded.
“I never think Ronda is done… CM Punk came back. Ronda Rousey can come back.”
