At Sunday night’s Raw-exclusive WWE Extreme Rules event, The Miz defeated Dean Ambrose to become the brand new Intercontinental Champion; however, not without a great deal of controversy involved.
During the match, Miz told Maryse to slap him in an attempt to get Ambrose disqualified, which would have meant that, per the stipulation set forth, Ambrose would have lost the title. However, the referee did not fall for the ploy and ordered Maryse to leave the ringside area.
