The Rock Talks SmackDown Appearance – The Rock made an unexpected and electrifying return to WWE on the September 15 episode of SmackDown. His surprise appearance added a jolt of excitement to the show.
During his return, The Rock entered the ring and had a memorable confrontation with Austin Theory, who had interrupted Pat McAfee. The Rock delivered his iconic move, the People’s Elbow, to Theory, leaving the crowd in a frenzy. Later, he shared a heartfelt backstage moment, hugging fellow WWE superstar John Cena.
Taking to Twitter to reflect on his comeback, The Rock expressed his gratitude and excitement for the incredible reception from the fans. He mentioned that the crowd reaction during his return was among the top five loudest in his illustrious career.
“I was – I’m still – completely blown away by this crowd reaction in Denver this past Friday night on SMACKDOWN.
“My appearance was a 100 surprise to everyone and this crowd of 14,000 erupted with the road of 100,000 strong. Top 5 loudest crowd reaction of my career (which I was like “holy shit” when I walked out)
I’m so grateful and humbled by this. I never take it for granted and “coming home” will always be sacred to me. Thank you my guy PatMac, the talented Austin Theory, WWE family backstage, Team Rock behind the scenes – everyone who joined us to go ALL IN.
But most importantly, thank you with all my love, gratitude, and respect, to THE PEOPLE. Our connection is real. Electrifying.”
The Rock’s appearance on SmackDown marked his first time live on WWE TV since the SmackDown on FOX premiere in October 2019.
