Tony Khan Shuts Down Britt Baker Exit Rumors

Tony Khan Shuts Down Britt Baker Exit Rumors – AEW President Tony Khan has addressed speculation surrounding Britt Baker’s status with the company, firmly denying any talk of her departure. Speaking during the AEW All In: Texas media call, Khan confirmed that he has never had a conversation with Baker about leaving AEW, dismissing recent rumors claiming she was seeking her release.

“I’ve never had a conversation about Britt departing AEW. I like Britt a lot,” Khan said. “One of the things we’ve done really well with AEW is build a tight, focused show around a really strong roster… We haven’t used everybody, and there are some really talented people on our bench that we can call in.”

Baker, a former AEW Women’s World Champion and one of the company’s most recognizable stars, has not competed since defeating Penelope Ford on AEW Dynamite in November 2024. Her absence has sparked ongoing speculation about her future, with some recent reports suggesting she wanted out of the promotion. However, those claims were debunked by Fightful Select, which cited sources “vehemently” denying that Baker is pushing for a release.

Khan explained her absence as part of a broader strategy to manage AEW’s roster like a sports team, where not every talent is used every week.

“Just like in pro sports, when you have some really talented people that aren’t necessarily starting every game, that doesn’t mean they won’t be starting in the future,” Khan said. “It makes sense for me to look at the AEW roster like a sports team and try to manage the minutes and rotation.”

Khan reiterated that Baker remains an important part of the promotion and could return to television when the timing is right.

“Britt is a great example of somebody that is very talented and we could utilize in AEW with the right situation and at the right time.”

As of now, there is no confirmed timetable for Britt Baker’s return to AEW programming.
