Top Female Prospect Draws Interest From WWE and AEW

WWE and AEW are reportedly expressing interest in Mariah May, a promising up-and-coming talent from the UK.

The 25-year-old May has been building a following over her approximately 4.5 years in the wrestling industry. According to Fightful Select, both WWE and AEW have taken notice and are considering bringing her on board.

It’s worth noting that May participated in a WWE UK Performance Center tryout in 2019, shortly after she embarked on her wrestling journey. WWE has reportedly kept an eye on her ever since. However, recent reports suggest that AEW is also emerging as a potential destination for her.

While there’s no confirmation of ongoing discussions or contract negotiations between May and either WWE or AEW, she is currently in Japan where she’s been engaged in a busy schedule with Stardom. Her recent match against Artist of Stardom Champion & NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Giulia on August 8 garnered attention, with many considering it one of her best performances out of over 80 matches she’s participated in since January 3.

Speculation has arisen that May might be concluding her time in Japan to potentially move on to another promotion she has aligned with. Adding to the intrigue, she closed her Big Cartel store in August and shared a reflective tweet highlighting her experiences in Japan, accompanied by a video montage that included the message, “I will never forget this time of my life. Thankful.”

Although there isn’t definitive confirmation of May’s signing with AEW, reports indicate that there’s substantial interest and momentum surrounding the possibility.
