Trick Williams Poised for Push After Notable Upset Victory at Recent NXT Event – Over the weekend, WWE held two house shows in Florida for the NXT brand, gearing up for the upcoming NXT Heatwave special on the USA Network.
The Saturday night event in Tampa turned heads as Trick Williams achieved a significant upset victory over the prominent NXT star, Bron Breakker, utilizing a roll-up. This development coincides with WWE’s recent focus on promoting Williams as a solo performer, following his split from NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes a few weeks back on television.
On tonight’s NXT Heatwave special on the USA Network, Williams will battle Ilja Dragunov.
Wrestling Observer Radio saw Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussing the impactful win by Williams and the evident push he has been receiving.”
Meltzer: “They’re [WWE] giving Trick a pretty big push. He beat Bron Breakker at one of the house shows this weekend.”
Bryan Alvarez: “Really? They had Trick Williams beat Bron Breakker?”
Meltzer: “Yeah, they were in Tampa and Citrus Springs. I think it was in Tampa. Teah, impromptu challenge, and he beat him. For what they want, Trick Williams has a great deal of potential. He’s a great talker, he has a look, and the only thing is he’s not a great wrestler, but an athlete. I think the hope is that they’re not rushing him up in time, which is a good thing. If they brought him up right now, he’d be one of those guys who’d get a stigma of failure on him, so they’re not rushing him up.”
