Update on Jacob Fatu Following SmackDown Angle – Following recent reports about Jacob Fatu being written off television due to non wrestling related reason, new details have surfaced regarding the real reason behind his absence. According to PWInsider, the belief among talent backstage is that Fatu is currently recovering from a dental procedure. While this has not been officially confirmed, several wrestlers present at SmackDown reportedly cited that as the explanation for his short-term removal from TV.
The segment on the October 17 edition of SmackDown featured a mystery attack angle used to write Fatu out of storylines. Cameras showed Fatu bloodied backstage before his scheduled number-one contender’s match against Drew McIntyre. WWE officials, including General Manager Nick Aldis, were seen checking on him, and McIntyre went on to claim victory by forfeit before an impromptu match against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes ended in a disqualification.
Despite previous speculation suggesting that Fatu could be sidelined for a significant period, there is optimism within WWE that his return may come sooner than expected. Multiple sources within the company reportedly feel that Fatu is “overdue” for a bigger spotlight on television, given his strong performances and growing fan support since his debut.
Before his recent TV exit, Fatu had been active in dark matches and live events. His most recent televised bout occurred in August, when he teamed with Sami Zayn and Jimmy Uso to defeat Solo Sikoa, Tonga Loa, and JC Mateo—three of his former Bloodline stablemates.
If the recovery goes as expected, WWE is likely to resume the Fatu–McIntyre feud once he returns to action.
