The possibility of bringing WrestleMania to Ireland continues to gain attention, although a new update suggest the idea is still considered a long-term project rather than an immediate plan.
Interest in hosting WWE’s biggest annual event increased last week after Kilkenny Councillor Maurice Shortall told the Irish Mirror that Ireland is in a strong position to submit a competitive bid for WrestleMania in the future.
A new update from Fightful Select provided additional insight into how the situation is being viewed behind the scenes. According to the report, people close to the proposed project believe Ireland hosting WrestleMania is achievable if the Irish government continues positioning the country as a destination for major international sporting events.
However, there are still significant financial hurdles involved.
The report stated that Ireland would likely need to match at least the $6 million site fee paid by Las Vegas in order to seriously compete for WrestleMania hosting rights. Sources within the Irish wrestling scene reportedly view that figure as one of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of the project moving forward.
Despite those concerns, supporters of the idea reportedly believe the event could generate a massive economic boost for the country. Estimates suggest a WrestleMania event in Ireland could bring nearly €300 million into the national economy through tourism, hospitality, transportation, and related spending.
Croke Park Mentioned As Possible WrestleMania Venue
If WWE were to bring WrestleMania to Ireland, Croke Park is reportedly viewed as the most likely location for the event.
The Dublin stadium can hold more than 80,000 fans, making it one of the few venues in the country capable of hosting a show on the scale of WrestleMania.
However, Fightful noted there are still logistical concerns surrounding the venue, particularly because Croke Park does not have a roof. Irish weather conditions during WrestleMania season could potentially create complications for WWE if the event were held outdoors.
The report also addressed concerns regarding local opposition from nearby residents. Last year, there were protests connected to the NFL hosting a game at Croke Park, but those close to the WrestleMania proposal reportedly do not view that as a major issue moving forward.
Recent WrestleMania bids highlight just how competitive the process has become. Las Vegas reportedly paid a $6 million site fee to host WrestleMania 42 after previously paying $5 million for WrestleMania in 2025. Nevada tax incentives reportedly increased the overall package value to more than $10 million for 2026 and over $9 million for the previous year.
Meanwhile, Nashville has reportedly submitted a $3.5 million bid along with additional tax incentives in an effort to secure WrestleMania 44 in 2028.
Although Ireland hosting WrestleMania remains far from official, discussions surrounding the possibility continue to grow as WWE expands its international reach and governments increasingly recognize the economic impact major events can generate.
